So if you didn't know the history of the place you would pull up wondering where the heck am I getting myself into because from the outside it looks very old but knowing the history of why it looks old is really cool all the steaks are prepared outside on the grill I have to say that we got the Cowboy steak "porterhouse "and it was one of the best steaks I've ever had very tender it is served with a big bowl of ranch beans which basically are kicked up pinto beans they were awesome and very good garlic Texas toast you can add corn on the cob or other size for an additional cost .overall the experience was awesome the bathrooms are really cool from the outside it looks like an indoor outhouse and then you push the doors and you go into a regular bathroom .The inside is decorated with cowboy type Decor signatures of people that have visited all over the wall don't forget to get a marker from them so that you can sign your name on the walls also.

I use to come here back when I was a kid. It was always for special events or celebrations (like getting good grades in school at the end of the school year). I always had a great time here. I've sense moved away from AZ and traveled all over the world and eaten lots of good food, but I still think of all the wonderful food and memories at this place. I can say with full confidence, this is a world class restaurant with amazing service, a great atmosphere, a long history and excellent food. Give it a try if you haven't yet.

Have been going to Lil Abner's since 1980, for the Gem and Mineral shows. The food, atmosphere, and staff cannot be beat. The only thing we miss, is the old time western band, that used to play there. Now they have solo acts. Would highly recommend that they bring back the band or something like it. The solo acts really don't cut it. Otherwise, the food is awesome. No better place for a meal.

This place is wonderful! We live in Chicago and are in Tucson visiting. This is our second year coming to this area and it was the first place we revisited. Food is fantastic and the waitstaff is great. We'll definitely stop in whenever we're back and will recommend it to anyone passing through!

Best steakhouse in Arizona.... My wife and I used to go there frequently, roughly once a month. Ambience, service, and food quality was always top notch. Although my wife has since passed 11 years ago, I have relocated to the east coast. I still dream of the fantastic beef ribs, cowboy beans, etc....best waitperson was our super friendly Sherry...my main question is, does the restaurant still maintain the greatness it had in the past?? I certainly hope so..planning a trip to the old Pueblo and Lil Abner's will be a def destination as part of my trip....thanks

So many memories I've had a Lil Abners. I started going there with my family in 1965, when we sat at a table next to Lee Marvin. It reminds me of my dad who's not around anymore. Excellent steak and atmosphere.

Ok, it had been several decades since I was here. I read some negative reviews and was really skeptical about taking my family since I had always talked this place up. We went on a Saturday night, were greeting an seated immediately, our waitress Morgan was really friendly and knew the menu and made solid recommendations. Our drinks stayed full, our steaks were cooked where we could see over an open flame, and to perfection. The beans and bread (toasted and buttered!) were surprisingly good, especially after reading a complaint about them. The cherry cobbler was out of this world. We waited for nothing, and our service was fantastic. Highly recommend!

Nice place. A little pricey for what you get. Cheeseburger is 18.00! But, its is delicious. The filet was excellent. Beef ribs were ok, fatty. I have had better other places. Baked potato had no bacon or cheese, only butter and sour cream. Service was outstanding. Overall a great place to try if you are ok with the higher prices.

Another outstanding meal with out of town friends. I've been coming here since the '70's...everything the quality of the food is better than the higher place establishments.

Great meal with the family on Friday! We sat outside and enjoyed the live music. Food was delicious, We had the Prime Rib, 1/2 chicken, and cheeseburgers with potato wedges, beans and salsa - Soo Good! Passed on desserts but they sounded amazing. Great service from the staff. Looking forward to another visit.

A Tucson Original! After a family gathering in Marana, we decided we would splurge and head to Abner's. The place has history. It is locally owned and operated by family and longtime loyal staff. Whether you are sitting at a linen draped high-end steak house or at Abner's, the price of beef does not change, and neither does the overhead cost of operation. So yes, you are going to pay for what you get. So sit down, let the service commence, and enjoy yourself. To note, we ordered our porterhouse medium rare. Within minutes of our steaks being placed, a touchback was executed. As the server approached the table, she was not only verbally checking in but observing. She immediately noticed a few steaks were a bit blue. She asked if she could return them to be brought to proper temperature. As a group, we looked at each other and said sure. This was a first, bring formally industry we never send anything back to the kitchen. Cooking red meat on open flame, you are not going to hit your temperature every time. The touchback was executed perfectly, and within a few minutes, we were enjoying the best steak in Tucson. A tip of the hat to Lil Abner's stay original.

Fantastic service. Courteous, respectful, and tentative. Never let our drinks run dry. Checked with us often to make sure all was well. Tucker did a great job. Food was very good. My rating of 4 would be a 5 but I felt some of the prices where a bit high. However o ordered the half rack of pork ribs which I paid 16.95 not bad. Some of their steaks are in the $40.00 range. Very rustic back woods atmosphere. Live music some nights. Overall enjoyed our meal and do recommend this restaurant if in NW Tucson.

One of my favorite restaurants I’ve ever been to. My family has been coming here since I was born. I love this place’s food and atmosphere. Going when the live bands are playing makes it so much fun!

The food was outstanding, I had the sirloin and it was cooked to perfection, husband had ribs and they fell off the bone, so good! The sides were delicious too. Our server was wonderfully patient with me as I asked lots of questions (I’m from the U.K.) and they were able to answer everything. We will definitely be returning.

Pretty overpriced but steak was pretty good once they cooked it to medium as I ordered. I like beans so the pintos were welcomed. The salad was pretty unimpressive. The garlic toast was good. Tough to get a good steak that is affordable. I don't think I will be back for as steak as I think if I shopped for one in a good meat market I would spend less and be much happier with the results.

Had a great celebratory dinner with the hubby. Our waitress was Connie and she was great. This was our 1st time here and it was unlike anything we ever imagined. We knew the food would be great however I was kind of skeptical because of the bearing reviews on both Yelp and Google; nonetheless we gave it a shot. I have to start off by saying that we both thought we were going to be walking into a pretty fancy place even on a Sunday evening. We were pleasantly surprised are the exterior up close, the old style saloon feeling inside and the super basic setup. We appreciated this, in every aspect of it and next time we'll come prepared with a big permanent marker so that we can document our presents on the wall with many others. :-) We both ordered a T-bone steak, medium-well, one with the baked potato, two salads, a bowl of ranch style beans and a basket of fresh garlic bread. Connie suggested dipping the garlic bread into the beans and guaranteed we'd love it. Sure enough, we did. Our steaks were cooked nearly well done versus medium well but were still full of flavor and rather tender. After we were done Connie convinced us to try their sundae topped with homemade cocoa fudge and again, she was right...to die for. Even the hubby ate half of it...mmmmm. So good. Kudos to whomever makes it! <3 Thanks Connie for your suggestions and great service. See you soon!
