The food was good. However, it wasn't as we ordered. The side of regular fries were missing for two of our meals. We later checked the receipt and noticed the cashier didn't put it on there. The misunderstanding ran both ways because the cashier spoke way too fast. We inadvertently added more than $4 worth of extras onto our South Philly cheesesteaks thinking the options the cashier was flying threw were free. I almost asked her to repeat what she said more slowly, but the line was long at the time and I didn't want to come across as rude. In the end, the two extra side order of fries weren't needed because the sandwiches were more than filling.
Great food and staff. Really clean inside and out. All protocols for Covid were practiced flawlessly. Also had great memorabilia from around the state's and they import their bread from a local company in Philly. Great place to take you friends and family for food and fun.
Good quality sandwich with good bread also. I got the South Philly with provolone and it was pretty good. A little dry... Likely because I passed up the "wiz" but at 10 dollars for a medium I was underwelmed. I gave an extra star for the quality of the food itself.
Great cheesesteak. I wouldnt get anything else. My girlfriend is from philly and she says its pretty close. But the hogies for the sandwiches just weren't as soft as for the cheesesteak. They probably use the fresh bread for cheesesteak and the older hogies for the sandwiches.
Overall delicious. Had the cheese steak with Cheese Wiz and onions, Philly Fries, tots, and pork roast sandwich. Fast and friendly service all at a great price with big portions. The restaurant itself was pretty big inside as well and plenty of parking. Will definitely be returning.
My wife and I loved the cheesesteaks! We also had the cheese and steak fries. You’re guaranteed a good meal here that you will love.
One of the best Cheesesteak joints in Tucson. Coming from Australia, I had no clue what a Cheesesteak was. My first introduction was through Philly's Finest, but when I first went to Frankie's - my mind was blown.
Fantastic food and fantastic service. The late Frankie Santos was a wonderful man - everyone who walked in was family. I've attached a rather unflattering picture of 12 year old me with the man himself. I regret that, being in Australia, I was unable to see him again before he passed.
Thankfully his legacy continues through his restaurant; again, the food is ALWAYS excellent and the service is top notch.
With freshly sliced angus beef, home made peppers, quality cheeses, Philly imported amoroso bread, I can confidently state that Frankie's is my favorite restaurant in Tucson. Finding a cheesesteak this consistently good (I'm a 10 year customer) is nearly impossible to find, even in Philly! It is certainly an order of magnitude than the staples: Pat's, Geno's, and Jim's in Philly.
My go to order: 12 inch with onions, half wiz half american, and both peppers. The cheese combination allows you to enjoy the creamy nature of the whiz mixing with the meat and the classic flavor of white american cheese. The sweet peppers are mixed with the meat, complementing the flavor profile of the meat+cheese, where the spicy peppers give it a unique bite.
Awesome philly chesse steaks. Gotta say it, BEST in town..
This was my first time coming here and I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised. The staff was friendly and polite. The restaurant was clean and tidy. I had a 6" cheesesteak with mixed peppers and onions, which was wonderful. I will definitely come here again, but next time I will order a larger size.
