Pub style food!

My husband and I shared a bread bowl broccoli soup and side salad which came with a a bag of potato crisps. It was very tasty - and perfect for a light dinner. The other meals looked amazing - enormous trays of tortilla chips and giant deli sandwiches. The prices are very reasonable and the portions are generous!

My my, couldnt be a better place to be for students. Cheap beers and awesome sandwiches. We used to start our wed, thurs and friday nights at this place. Electrifying atmosphere with not much music, but people talking screaming everywhere trying to speak loud so that the other guy can hear.

Basically a loud place but good food, atmosphere and above all cheap beers. A must place for people visiting 4th ave

OMG YES!!!. The food is great, the people suck but... they get the job done and honestly, I have nothing to complain about except that it takes FOREVER!!!! to check out so if you are going make sure to take cash, so you can just throw it on the table let them keep the change and leave.

Best sandwiches in town in my opinion. I love the half sandwich and half soup special. Bread bowls are amazing and they give you more than enough food. Best veggie sandwich I've had doesn't need meat. Spinich and artichoke dip is really good too.

Went here for lunch. Had the lunch special which is half a sandwich and a bread-bowl of soup. Taste of my sandwich was pretty but the clam chowder was only average at best. Still enjoyed the college atmosphere the place has. All in all, we'll have lunch there again.

The first impression when walking into.this place is a local dive bar. The mood is definitely a college one but the waitresses appear to be attentive and informative. On tap wasn't the best selection but they did have some good happy hour specials. My entree choice was the half and half combo. Half a bread bowl of their clam chowder and half of a pastrami sandwhich. The sandwhich was very good and the Chipolte mustard added a nice finish. The chowder was meh. My wife and I were very glad we tried this place during our stay in Tucson.

Miss this place. Bison Witches is one of my most favorite places to eat. I have traveled around a bit and have yet to find anything that compares to this place! I've moved from Tucson but I really do miss good ol' Bison Witches!

Cheese soup and bread bowl. I suggest the cheese soup and bread bowl when in Tucson. If it's hot out side cool down with a huge goblet of your favorite brew

Great bar food, sandwiches are huge. Oh, and for the guy wondering where the bison is... The restaurant's name means "Buy Sandwiches". Get it now?

Best sandwiches ever.. The wait can be interminable, what with tables of UA students lingering over one beer to watch TV and hang out with friends, but the food is absolutely wonderful. Best sandwiches in town, hands down.

15 years and still my favorite 4th Ave spot. I've been going to Bison Witches for as long as it's been open, est. 1995, well before I was able to drink (at least not in public places). The sandwiches are excellent - I suggest "The Tucson" or "The Wildcat".

Great selection of bottled beer, and pretty decent selection on from the tap.

Service has always been good-to-great, even during rush times.

I've never had a bad experience there. Highly suggest if you're visiting, or new to town.

I have been to this 4th Ave. stop-over many a time and each time I arrive hungry and leave happy and full (and usually with leftovers too). Reading some of the reviews that expressed confusion or disappointment over not "getting the hype" about this place has inspired me to share what I love about this place that keeps me coming back. 1) The food. There is nothing more satisfying than stepping inside to enjoy a large iced tea and huge sandwich after being outside on 4th Ave. during our 100 degree summer days. Forget Summerhaven, I want to go to Sandwhichhaven! 2) The bar. The entire place is situated around this horseshoe shaped shine to adult beverages. Even though i don't drink often, I like that fact that I can enjoy my intensely satisfying food and my escape from the heat, served with a side of - "And, would you like a Drink with that?" 3) The patrons are regular people!! While I do only go during the daylight hours, I can honestly say I have never been exposed to a messy/gross drunk person, nor a person/s who is incapable of NOT cursing, nor have I been worried about taking my 5 year old there to eat our during lunch (she said she loved her bread bowl)! In short, this place does not serve you "fancy", the servers do not have french accents, and the cooks probably don't even have those funny hats on when they are making your food. But that doesn't matter to me. What matters to me is that when I go in hungry, I always leave happy.

Not too bad. I ordered the wildcat (first sandwich on the menu). It was actually pretty big and pretty good. Nothing to write home about, probably about what you'd expect for the $7.75 price tag. I didn't realize you could go out the back door and sit outside, but I hear that they have a really nice patio to kick back and have a few beers on. I'll go back next time I'm in the area.

Where is the Bison?. I get really annoyed when restaurants appropriate the name "buffalo" or "bison" then not even have an actual item on the menu that contains bison on the plate. Not hard to to do Bison Witches!

The food is amazing! The chili bread-bowls are huge and great on a cold night! But what makes Bison Witches apart from the rest are their signature sandwiches! You better come hungry!

Keep coming back for more. I have recently moved from Arizona, but everytime I return to the valley I make it a point to visit Bison Withces either in Tucson or Phoenix. All their food is amazing; it's tasty and hearty. Not to mention, it's inexpensive and they have a great selection of beers to accompany their soups, salads and sandwiches. The simple menu also makes it easy for you to narrow down what you want to eat since there's so much good stuff to choose from.

I recommend starting off with the CCQ (chili con queso) that is a spicy cheese and jalapeno dip served with tortilla chips. As a vegetarian, I think their veggie sandwhich is one of the best because it includes a garden of gourmet vegetables such as artichoke, sprouts, avacado, tomato, olives, onion and includes cream cheese and cheddar cheese melted on one of their delicious breads. I suggest the rye!

I decided to visit this place on my 1st adventure in Tucson. I was staying around the area and what I caught me was the pictures of huge and juiciest sandwiches the make. We were 2 eaters. We decided to order a marbled bread sandwich and a potato bisque. I paired it with a Draft Local beer. The sandwich was juicy and tasty, the bread was perfectly toasted, honestly I am dreaming with this place since I visited it. The amount of food was perfectly enough for both of us. I will definitely come back. 🤩

A small hole in the wall is where you can find some of the best soups and sandwiches in the city. Do not pass them up if your on fourth Ave. Lots of places to eat, but none as good as this homemade soup and sandwich shop. Giant sandwiches, hearty soups in a bread bowls and drinks. Very happy with our current trip to eat. Had not been I a while and was floored by how good it was. Keep forgetting this hidden gem in the desert. A must for when it is getting cooler outside. Nothing warms you up like these soups.

Bison Witches has a full menu of different great options! They have good deals with 1/2 sandwiches and soup for those who want to try a variety of foods. I got the Reuben sandwich and it was the perfect mixture of ingredients! I’ve come back to the restaurant multiple times and each time the service, and quality of ingredients/meals has never disappointed me. The sandwiches were also huge for a small price(hand for comparison)!

Our first time back in Tucson in over a year and we wanted to try some new places. We also had our 19 year old daughter with us (she can't get into many places), so the goal was to find a place or two for snacks for all of us, drinks for the adults and something new. A friend of ours recommended Bison Witches and we were not disappointed. Before we placed an order, the portions coming out of the kitchen were massive, so much food. So we went with their Grilled Peanut Butter Sandwich. I wasn't sure what to expect, but it was for sure something new and loved it! Wow! Because we shared it, we also each got a bag of chips with the half of sandwich. It was a great deal. All of their food looked amazing and the staff was friendly and attentive. We will for sure be back, as we want to give their nachos a try! Maybe a bread soup bowl too!

This place came highly recommended from locals. We stopped in for lunch. Service was quick and friendly. The food was delicious. Large portions and fresh bread. Large beer selection. Wasn't a fan of the loud bison bell being hit every time an order was ready. Maybe if I wasn't sitting right next to it? For me, it took away from the atmosphere so I'm mentioning it.

Nice little spot! Food was very good although I wish I had more soup and less bread bowl 😊. The soup was delicious and staff super friendly!!!! If you are downtown Tucson you have to stop by and try the food and drinks!!!! Definitely a thumbs up 👍🏾

Delightfully divey, and just bohemian enough to feel homey without being grungy. Pretty packed for lunch, but the sandwiches are amazing and not just your average fare. Combinations that seem weird but really work when you taste them. Lots of good beer, too!

Wow!!!! Amazing soup and sandwich. It's probably one of the best sandwiches we've had in Tucson. The soup bread bowls are nothing to complain about. Our server, Aly, went above and beyond to go over the menu and offer amazing suggestions. Thank you, Aly! Mural by @by.alyseandra

The food here is absolutely fabulous and the service is always amazing as well! I like that they at least accommodate us smokers with the outside area out back. Bison Witches soup and sandwich is my favorite. It's a great place to stop and take a break when visiting 4th Avenue!

Great sandwiches and soup bowls! Generous portions, lots of choices. Each sandwich comes with your choice of bread: Wheat, white or marble rye & your choice of chips. The 1/2 sandwich & bread bowl soup combo is a good option. Friendly service, outdoor patio, parking in the back. Casual place with local charm.

This place never disappoints! They serve their soup in a giant bread bowl which was very cool. The Cali sandwich was good but then again, all of their sandwiches are pretty awesome. Huge portions and they have daily drink specials

I’ve been coming to Bison for a loooooooong time. Their sandwiches are big enough for me to save half for lunch the next day and still be FILLED. But honestly, their soup and sandwich combo is UNDEFEATED. Nothing is better than their soup coming in a soft bread bowl. My favorite is the Broccoli Cheddar soup and the Green Turkey sandwich. This place is such a local staple, conveniently located on 4th ave. Before/after your meal it’s always nice to walk along 4th and window shopping. Seriously though, If you haven’t had Bison, you haven’t visited Tucson!
