I was looking to try some local food outside my hotel and found this gem.
I had a burrito and chips and salsa. All of the food was fresh and tasted great.
The highlights for me were the salsa bar and very large selection of hot sauces to try. The Xtreme regret sauce definitely lived up to it's name 😂

Stopped into Tucson Tamales tonight. The food was absolutely spectacular! Every bite tasted new, fresh, and delicious. I was excited every time to take that bite. This IS my new comfort food. Next time I am craving Mexican cuisine, I will be coming here!
The atmosphere was warm and welcoming. We instantly felt like part of their family. The staff knew the regulars on a first name basis, as they walked through the door to the shop. This locally owned business makes their customers first priority. Jaycen and Nashara are hard working, and took great care of us. They are definitely beneficial to this Locally Owned Business. And a blessing to the customers experience.
I personally had the Loaded Nachos with cheese, pinto beans, tamale beef with green hatch Chilies, and a brownie. The brownie was soft, and sweet. It was a nice dessert. The tortilla chips (and regular tortillas) were fresh. We had salsa from their salsa buffet, and that paired great with the nachos. The beef was so full of flavor that I was salivating before each bite. The smell of the fresh tamales had my stomach growling for more, even when I was stuffed full.
I recommend this Locally Owned Business, 11/10!

Stopped in while driving through Tucson and I'm glad we did. Our family of 5 shared the family meal. It was just about the perfect amount of food. The kids liked the salsa bar and the chips were very delicious. I was surprised with how good the Mexican slaw was, but the tamales definitely steal the show. The service was great too, friendly and helpful. The wall of heat was fun to look through.
Excellent tamales and wonderful service. They offer a ton of different hot sauces to try with the tamales. The sell the hot sauces too.
What can I say? Most delicious tamales I've ever had, and probably the most impressive display of great hot sauces I've ever seen. Picked up some Ghost of Saffron and I am a happy guy. Thank you to the wonderful people that operate this place.
I always love coming here you can order for takeout or in the restaurant perfect for dinner or lunch with friends by yourself or if you simply got off work and want some thing to eat that will make your tastebuds tingle. They have a wide selection of tamales, both vegetarian and meat, lover options, which are a win-win for our household. They also make their own salsa which is extraordinary. You can expect to pay anywhere between eight to $10 if you get takeout and of course it’s going to be more if you eat in the restaurant. The tamales are amazing. I have to say my favorite is the green chili and cheese.
Great tamales. My abuela used to hand make her own tamales and always has an olive in them. Just a little detail that made me feel like the cared. Also, had a lot of different sauces plus a tasting section to find out before you buy what you like. Great service!
Some folks are going to really the tamales here and some folks aren't going to be impressed by them... it all depends on what you expect from a tamale... as their tamales do not have as much meat/vegetable filling as other places I've tried. I felt the corn masa they use is very good, much better than most other tamales I've had, and far superior to the masa of frozen grocery store bought tamales. If you can't handle a lot of spice or tomato paste due to dietary issues there are good options for you. I was rather impressed with the flavor and texture of their sides of cabbage slaw and their beans, I seldom get excited by sides at Mexican restaurants, but these were some of the best sides I've had at a Mexican place in quite awhile. Overall I enjoyed my meal but would have appreciated a fair bit more filling inside my tamales for the price.
We had really great service eating here as a family. They made sure our one year old got food he would like by letting us have a sample before we ordered. Overall a really great experience.
Wow! This place is phenomenal.
I pre-ordered tamales for 25 people with vegan/ vegetarian/ no pork or beef restrictions in the mix and based upon the numbers they selected 4 different tamales.
It was for a Sunday evening function and Frank rolled in on-time with fresh hot tamales, plates, utensils, and serving tongs.
Everything was really easy to arrange and the reception was A+
Thanks to the Tucson Tamale team. I cannot recommend this yummy food more highly!
