If there were half stars, we’d probably rate Akita a 3.5, reason being that it is good, but not as good as it should be given the price and the hype. The food presentation was top notch, but the taste itself was very average and thus underwhelming. In fact, I think we’ve had better sushi at takeout or even ready-made. We also tried the ribeye, and like everything else, the presentation was good but the meat itself was underwhelming. It was chewy and tough, a very soft sear, and didn’t come with any sides. It was also oily which was unappealing. The octopus was surprisingly fried with a batter, which made it taste a bit like fried chicken. However, it was my favorite dish and the truffle potato fluff was delicious. The cocktails were disappointing and weak — my first one tasted watered down and my girlfriend’s tasted like juice. Far too expensive for what they were. The waiting staff were quite nice and attentive. They were very accommodating even when we arrived late so the service gets a 5/5. We will likely not be returning but if you want an upscale experience with mediocre food, then I would recommend it.

Incredible food. Incredible service. Fine dining at its finest. Prepare yourself to pay more then your typical Japanese restaurant however worth every dollar. Check out the Japanese whiskeys, sake and pretty much every dish in the menu was on point.

Fantastic experience! we did share-plate styles. I don't eat seafood but still 100% enjoyed the experience & seeing the presentation of the food itself. Will 100% return for the tacos! The group enjoyed all sea food items they ordered as well!

Food tastes okay (I guess) but I've certainly had much better sushi at a fraction of the price. $250 later my date and I were still hungry and went elsewhere after for more filling food. If you're in to taking pictures for the Gram or TikTok to look like you're cool, then I suppose you'll have a good time. If you're just a foodie like myself who thought a Michelin star would mean mind blowing food, set your expectations a lot lower.

One of my favorite spots for Japanese and Korean cuisine! Everything we had was 10/10. Crab fried rice was perfect, the back cod was amazing. The wagyu tacos are a must and the king crab was delicious! Fun rolls and signature drinks. No indoor seating at this particular time but the outdoor tent with heaters was fine.

Toronto has an impressive, if daunting, restaurant scene. It was hard to narrow down places we wanted to try, but I'm glad Akira back made the cut. Delicious from beginning to end, be sure to try all they offer, including their warm, cold, main, and sushi plates. Everything is good for sharing so this place is ideal for a group.

The food was good, we like the cold dishes more than the hot shares. Just stick with sushis and rolls, don’t venture out. The drinks and wine lists are great tho. The services were great, but somehow there was a lot of police presence when we were there. The patio is nice but can get quite loud with street constructions and traffic.

10/10. I love Akira Back. The food is consistently amazing. The service could honestly be a little better for such an expensive restaurant. The rolls are really good as well as the Tuna pizza (with all Tuna), Toro Caviar and Crispy Rice. I do wish that the dessert menu was a little better! I always find myself getting dessert somewhere else because the desserts don’t look as appetizing here.
