Review Fortune Buffet - Toms River

First time visiting Fortune, and I was quite surprised by the quality of the food and service . The staff was excellent and very efficient.

Since my first visit over a decade ago, this is the only Chinese buffet I will go to. It has an excellent variety and everything is cooked and prepared excellently. The staff is always friendly, as well. ****Update**** They no longer serve snow crab legs. This disappointed me very much, as that was the primary reason I went there.

I can't believe it but this place was very clean, the food was fresh, the service was very good. Everything was real good, the desserts were tasty, an great fruit an lots of choices. They were constantly bringing fresh refills. The sushi was great, fresh an delicious. Will definitely be back. Finally restaurant I enjoyed!!!!

Haven’t been to a Chinese buffet in so long but this really hit home for me! We came during the lunch special and it was only $24 for two people! So affordable and so worth it!! The meat was not dried out, the fish was fresh and not fishy, chow mein was so so good! And the ice cream there for dessert was the icing on the cake! I can’t wait to go back!

I have been to this buffet a couple of times, my first time was a few years ago and my most recent visit was June 27. We came a few minutes before the dinner buffet started, so we had the dinner buffet. I have been to the lunch buffet before, and I would say that both are worth it. The prices for the buffet are pretty reasonable, and they do offer senior discounts. The options available were great, and the staff was very attentive when it came to clearing out plates. Getting drink refills without asking was hit or miss for me, but it was easy to ask for a refill. I had a variety of offerings (picture captions will include what's on the plates), and was pleased with all of the ones that I tried. Some of the food such as the fried dumplings were a little cold, and the wontons in the wonton soup could have used a little more meat, but overall I enjoyed their offerings. They have food aimed for children, as well, such as chicken nuggets, french fries, and mac and cheese. The hibachi station was nice, though the offerings in that station were a little sparse when I went. I’m not sure if I did the station wrong but it appeared as if you have to add the sauce after it is cooked, which made for a soupy hibachi. I prefer mine cooked with the sauce so the flavors get infused a little better. They have a wide variety of desserts as well. I had ice cream and almond cookies. I cannot quite speak to the sanitary conditions of the place, it was pretty clean when I went, but buffets have a problem with items getting mixed into each other. Overall, I think that this place has a lot of great options for food, and the price is worth it. The service is satisfactory, and the experience is nice.

Hands down, the best buffet experience on the Jersey shore! All of their food is fresh and excellently prepared! One of the only quality post Covid establishments!!

Some of the employees there.... they step right in front of you and stop you in your tracks, they walk past your table that is overly ready for plate removal. Don't ask if like a refill on drink. Used to be nice. I always left a nice tip but not when they act like they do anymore.

Best Chinese Buffet around. They are priced better than any of the other Chinese Buffets within a 30 mile radius, and they have better food options as well. My only grief is their "take-out" option. They charge by the LB ($7.99 a LB for normal food, and extra if you get seafood) and the one time I got take-out I was charged more for no reason.

This is by far the best Asian Buffet I ever ate it!! My family and I come here at least once a month, often twice!!! My son and I hardly ever get past the very fresh, tasty Sushi!!! All the seafood throughout the restaurant taste like they just jumped out of the water!! The meats and salads are excellent also!! This buffet is always busy and a super-excellent value for a very reasonable price!! The restaurant is clean and colorful and the employees are very efficient!! This is my very favorite restaurant in Tom's River!!!

Wow. Food. Everywhere you look. From Mongolian bar be que, to ice cream cones. Prawn. Shrimp. Pork. Broccoli. Calamari salad. Calamari fried. Crab. Chinese style desserts to chocolate chip cookies. All you can eat..... All for $9.99/ person!! I've been twice. Both times the food was fresh and very good! (Just stay away from the raw bar.)

This is one of the better buffets that are still around. I was disappointed by them not serving crab legs like most others. The food was decent, but I found it disconcerting that most food items weren't labeled, especially any of the ice cream and sushi. The service was quick to clear plates. They didn't get us any drink refills or anything else without being asked. Typical buffet, but it was better before covid

Excellent. This is one of the best Chinese buffets I've been to. Clean, plenty of great food, Sushi bar with Mongolia Barbecue. Military 4 people $28, simply awesome!

Eh,. I really was not impressed with this place, which came highly recommended from friends, mainly for their sushi selection and price. It's a typical buffet with nothing to rave about, the kung pao chicken was dry, other entrees were greasy and dry as well. The sushi selection was limited to variations of fake crab, celery sticks, and avocado, I don't recall seeing one roll with fish in it, which was a huge letdown. Another reviewer mentioned east buffet and I would have to agree with it being much better, if anyone is looking for a similar place to eat, this is not it.

Dont know what the fuss is about. OK I have been there at leats 6 times diiferent times of day & on weekday & ends. Sorry folks I have NOT been impressed food isnt that good the east buffet in brick (unfortunately they went out of businees due to poor timig w/downturn in economy rightas they tried to go upscale featuring seafood at a higher price)

Wow. I'm not a big fan of buffets: long waits, people touching the food, etc. On the other hand, Fortune buffet was outstanding! I wanted to try it since its been recommended by my friend and I'm glad I went. They have cheap prices and a great selection of yummy food. To contrary beliefs, Fortune buffet is not dirty at all! It is well kept and the employees and very nice. I am so glad that I tried this place. I would give it 4 1/2 out of five stars.

VERY RUDE!!!. If you ever ate at Fortune Buffet you know at times they can get very busy with a long wait. My husband, mysleft and 2 other couples got there at 2:30 for lunch on a Sunday. On the weekend theyre dinner menu pricing starts at 3:30 - about $6 more per person than the lunch price. We got sat after almost an hour wait at 3:20- when the hostess stated that we will be charged for dinner prices! Believe me, I have no problem paying more if we had just gotten there or if it was past 3:30, but we didnt and it wasnt- so we all walked out!!!!!! It was the whole principal of being there since 2:30 (way before dinner pricing began) & them feeling they could get away with charging a higher price, when it should not have been. When leaving all of us made is known how dissapointed we were that in a time where customer service should matter most- this business definitely showed NONE!!

FORTUNE FUN. Fortune Buffet is perfect from the walk in the front door to the way you roll out the front when you overstuff yourself with the excellent food inside. My favorite part of the selection is the mongolian grill which gives you the ability to pick the amount of chicke, pork, beef, or shrimp you want to add to your plate. Then you can add an assortment of fresh veggies and spices to then watch it be cooked to perfection right in front of you. If that isn't your cup of tea, there is an always fresh selection of all types of chinese food, American type selections such as steak or pizza or some sort of fried chicken with maybe fries. There is a fully serviceable sushi bar, and after gorging yourself with all of the above you can choose from an extensive dessert bar, large choice of ice cream. Overall everything there tastes great, the service is friendly, and the assortment is always fresh! If there is one thing I would recommend they work on there is the parking lot is a little cramped, but other than that the bufet gets an A+++++.

Consistently Excellent. Fortune Buffet has quickly become my favorite restaurant. The crab legs, shrimp, mussels, clams and oysters are always fresh and delicious. I always go there when I'm in the mood for Chinese food buy I can't seem to get past the seafood. Well worth any wait.

Sushi smelled funny. Not nearly as good as Diversity Buffet in Toms River. Will not return.

WORTH IT. This buffet is worth every penny and they don't overcharge for children. Plenty of choices in the buffet and there is something for everyone. The bathrooms are very clean and the servers are extremely friendly
