Kona Grill

I have a gluten allergy so I typically shy far from sushi places, since sometimes it can be a pain. I contacted the restaurant ahead of time because I knew I’d be going there for a friend’s birthday celebration. I was informed that they have some gluten free options, which are labeled on the menu. They were right, but I feel “options” is kind of a stretch. There were two sushi rolls, one dish, and one appetizer that were gluten free. I asked our server if any of their 40 sauces mentioned on the menu were gluten free, and she pleasantly replied that she’d check. She brought gluten free soy sauce and informed me that none of their other sauces are gluten free. I think it’s unfortunate that not one of their 40 sauces are gluten free. I may be getting nit-picky here, but I ordered both of the gluten free sushi roll options and while the rolls themselves looked pretty, the plate was extraordinarily boring. Since it’s a high quality restaurant I had expected a nicer looking plate design. Overall, the food and service were good. I just wish I had more options, since I don’t think it would be hard to do.
