This place is exceptional. Every aspect of your dining experience is thought out and executed flawlessly. A passing waiter opened the door and greeted is as we walked up, then we were immediately greeted by the hostess who smiled and directed us to a table on a well kept patio, under a tilted umbrella to block the mid day sun. We started with iced tea, which was freshly brewed and did not taste like tea bag. I usually don't mention my beverage in reviews, but I am a bit of an iced tea snob. I drink it fast too, and I never saw the bottom of the glass.
We ordered spinach dip, which is usually a greasy mess of cheese, but this stuff was different. Bright green perfectly cooked spinach and big chunks of artichoke bubbling in a blend of cheese that was just enough to make it a dip. This was served with a generous portion of fresh angle cut baguette, toasted and lightly seasoned with oil and herbs. This was outstanding.
Next I ordered the double cut pork chop. With bacon jalapeno Mac n cheese and mashed potatoes. My wife had the shrimp and grits. Let me just say that we both let out a tandem expletive when treating our first bites of what turned out to be one of the best meals we recall having in a very long time.
The pork was perfectly cooked, moist on the inside with a crispness on the outside that gave it a flavor very similar to fresh hot cracklins. The seasoning was spot on. Served with a side of the glaze to dip. I didn't know what to make of the dip at first because I am not usually a fan of sweet food. It complemented the pork and made me kind of emotional....
The Mac n cheese. Normally I don't get it. I feel like everybody does it, and it's been reinvented to the point of boring. But Jalapeno's always tempt me. Let me tell you, it was rediculous. Fresh Jalapeno's swimming in a gooey cheese sauce with bacon.... The mashed potatoes were great too.
My wife's shrimp and grits was... well, amazing... Perfect cooked shrimp, sausage, onions, cheese, spices, butter, man oh man. The only thing I would recommend if you are not a huge lover of grits would be to split it between a few people. It's very rich and the flavor, while amazing, gets old after a bit.
We didn't have deserts. The prices are very fair for the quality of the food. Go here. I am sure that anything you get will be a fantastic version of that thing.
I was introduced to this place by a friend. We had lunch and I enjoyed the Texas Veggie Salad. It was soooooo good! My husband and I had dinner there about 3 weeks ago and again another wonderful experience. He had chicken fried steak, jalapeno corn and bacon jalapeno mac and cheese. I had the TRG Top Chop (OMG) with corn bread and mashed potatoes. We also tried the crab cakes, mac n cheese bite and finished with brownie. All of it was AMAZING. Will be back for sure.

Our go to place, never had a bad meal....Always guaranteed a awesome meal. Love this place...
Loved the food and we received wonderful service by Madison. Highly recommend the coconut shrimp appetizer, Chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes, bacon jalapeño Mac & cheese, B.L.A.T (bacon lettuce avocado tomato) on the jalapeño bread and the sweet potato fries! Yum!!!
I have been here a multitude of times and it never disappoints. The food, the service and the ambiance are all excellent. The gumbo here is the closest to what my wife makes at home. When we have visitors from out of town this is the place we take them to for the most pleasant Woodlands restaurant experience. If there is any thing to complaints about, it would be the parking... This is a popular place and you will probably have to hunt for a parking place and wait to be seated.
Wow sitting at the bar in front of the kitchen food table it was amazing to watch. I've never seen so much food on plates come out of a kitchen so fast and so consistent for so long. Everything was great. Great salads, so busy on a Tuesday night just amazing, I thought it was Friday night.
The food is always delicious!!! The calamari is a great appetizer too. Always a good crowd there too!!
Enjoyed a great evening here. The food was wonderful - we had the scampi, top chop and the flounder. The highlight of the night was the service by Thomas. He made the night for us. Very attentive, personality plus and just was a lot of fun! Thanks Thomas for a great evening!!
We have been going to TRG since day one. Every meal has been wonderful and the service top notch!! It's the place "where everybody knows your name".
Cool bartender recommended a phenomenal chicken dish and drink. Live acoustic classic rock and 90s alternative in the background. Not much else I can ask for.
Food is always amazing, whether it’s for a business lunch or dinner with family or friends. You will not regret choosing this restaurant for either scenario.
The food and drinks are delicious. The staff is friendly and helpful. It's very busy for dinner on Saturday night because this place is amazing!
Excellent food and service. There were eight of us and we enjoyed entrees ranging from the chicken fried steak (all who ordered it said it was great), the pork chop was very good!!!, a couple of chicken dishes, shrimp and grits, and several orders of peach cobbler (yes!!!). It's about a 30 mile drive for us, but we will be going back (happy face)!
The food was so delicious. Every bite was so flavorful. It felt like heaven. This is by far the best restaurant I have ever been to.
Courtney was our waitress. She was super fun and knowledgeable. She made sure we were taken care of. I couldn’t be happier.
First time here and wow was the food great! Our server Chris had recommended a few items and boy are we glad we tried them. Will definitely be coming back in the near future.
Staying in The woodlands for a couple days and decided to give The Republic Grille a try. Not photographed was the spinach artichoke dip which was fantastic! My flounder was delicious and the grilled veggies were perfectly prepared. My husband had the (award winning) chicken fried steak which was our least favorite. Overall we had a great dinner and will definitely return when in the area.
Great food and great service! Large portions. The chicken fried chicken was fabulous. Perfect crunch and flavor. I will be back often! Very close to my job
First of all, our server Josh made the night. Knew when to let us keep talking rather than interrupt, knew that we didn't just want a robot dropping the food of at the table. A credit to the restaurant. Great all-round experience.
The food was amazing - the reason we came straight back here in the first night of this wee trip. Fish & chips that don't taste too oily, bacon jalapeño mac & cheese that's too good. Luckily I'm not on a diet! ;-)
And I know this isn't a budget restaurant, but I've got to mention how reasonable the prices are. It's not crazy - I've spent more eating way worse at The Domain in Austin.
The food was amazing, super tasty. Holden was great, and we found the best "3 leches" dessert in Woodlands. We will definitely return, super recommended.
Delicious. Recipes made with care and service was quick. Outside patio terrific and more casual on a beautiful days than inside (a little fancier).
Excellent! Our waitress, Peyton, was amazing, and all the staff were welcoming! I had a cup of tomato bisque soup and half the grilled cheese sandwich on TX toast. The perfect amount for a light brunch and the food was excellent! There's a full bar here, too. As good as the food was, the wait staff was even more impressive! Hannah was Peyton's trainer and was also lovely, and the whole staff was professional and polished. I recommend this restaurant!
