Is the place to be. We visit once a week and love the laid back environment. The drinks are great and the onion rings are amazing! I highly recommend going for dinner and drinks! They support local food businesses around and always have great specials. ❤

Okay, I don't want to gush like a teenage girl here, but I had a magical time at the Birchwood Inn. The bartender, wait staff, owners, and even random patrons we're beyond friendly. Welcoming atmosphere would be a gross understatement. The atmosphere and decor is unique and very special. The menu has plenty of items that I would actually want to order. Not a common occurrence. I selected meatloaf wrapped in bacon with a side of gravy from the owners mother's recipe. The entree and the sides were delicious. My two companions absolutely loved their meals as well. One entree was a zucchini pasta that was thoroughly enjoyed. The history of the the place would require another whole review. Worth going way out of your way for.

The Birchwood inn catered our company holiday party. Appetizers and meal were was fantastic and dessert was amazing. They were pleasant to work with, on time, and adhered to masking and social distancing guidelines. Highly recommend!

Always a great time eat ing here. They are right down the road from us which makes it great convenience but it's worth the trip if you're looking from further away. Not your typical dining room from big chain restaurants so you may want to call ahead make a reservation just in case. Looking forward to many more meals served up with the friendly service we've always had. Keep up the excellent work!

amazing little gem tucked away from the main drag... quiet and charming in its own manner. the food was delicious, and plenty for the next day(must have the french onion soup and spinach and artichoke dip). Matt knows ever inch of mt monadnock and a great person to talk to before hiking. Amy and Eileen were personable and great hosts as well. Will definitely be back... as early as this weekend, since they were able to find my gf some horseback riding!

Five stars strictly for Sunday brunch. I typically do not eat breakfast out anymore as I am generally disappointed in something. We stayed at the Birchwood (I have a separate review for that below) and Sunday brunch was included in the room rate. Nice! They have a great menu you can order off of (I hear that their corned beef hash is quite delicious). I was going to go that route but honestly I was not very hungry. I ordered two eggs over medium, toast, sausage links and it came with hash browns. The waitress came back and told us that they didn't have links but they had patties today. I wish I was hungrier because everything was top-notch and I think it was the best breakfast I've ever had. I think I read somewhere that a lot of their eggs and other ingredients are locally sourced and you can definitely taste that difference in quality. I'm not a huge sausage patty fan but these changed my mind, they were spiced perfectly and cooked perfectly and you could tell they were fresh. Hash browns were nicely seasoned and cooked how I like them, not too light not too dark. The room: Four Stars This was a very last minute reservation so I understand that the weather has been hot and obviously a hotel at this age with no central air conditioning is not going to have rooms be perfectly cold for your arrival. When we arrived at about 7:30 it was 84 degrees in the room again totally understandable. However it didn't really ever cool off enough to be comfortable and the air conditioning on high was probably a little bit small for that room and quite noisy. I hope in the future they can put wall units in and not tie up a window. Anyway the decor in the room was quite nice and had more pillows than I think I've ever seen, most of them decorative. Probably something women love and men not so much. There was a mini fridge with half and half, a microwave, coffee maker and some cups etc. Amy did explain to us an issue with Comcast that has been going on for about a month and has yet to be resolved with the cable TV (just in this room) but she did offer us some movies. Probably not the most current selection, but we were able to find one we hadn't seen before. Unfortunately because of the air conditioning being so loud even with the TV up to 100 we still couldn't hear it so we just tried our best with closed captioning. It was fine for a night but if I was staying longer I probably wouldn't have been as flexible. I was hoping we would hit the pub but we were pretty exhausted. The mattress we found very comfortable as well as the pillows. The shower in our room was a bit small so for future/longer stays I would probably investigate that a little bit more. Again, this was all very spur-of-the-moment last minute and a weekend. The grounds are quite lovely with beautiful perennials and a really nice looking vegetable garden. You can tell that there is a lot of pride in ownership here. The location was also very convenient to our destination and very easy to find.
