Review Cafe Wasabi - Tempe

This is simply one of the few sushi restaurants that gives the impression of an upscale cafe style food chain, while still setting a distinctness in it's comfortable modern interior and quality of food and service. The sushi is somewhat reasonably priced, though very fresh and well above average in taste, as the salads were as well. Beer and saki selection is awesome and the place is actually cleaner than most I've seen. Staff is really friendly (even after we realized we were keeping them from closing one night they still wished us well and were extremely friendly and courteous). Really my only issue falls on the price. This isn't the type of place to try different types of sushi without a small crowd. In fact it's more inclined to getting your own plate and maybe an appetizer, grabbing some off a friend's plate and maybe callin' it quits after that. The size and quantity of the sushi is very appropriate, though honestly expect to get full fast. I will say Cafe Wasabi is definitely high on the list for me concerning sushi restaurants in Phoenix simply because it stands out from your typical sushi bars.

The pictures help the non sushi eater find something delicious. The husband and wife owner are absolutely the nicest people ever. Love to support local shop owners and the food and saki bombers make a great combo. Also, not bad on the wallet ;)

I love this place, I go there roughly once a week. Since its family owned and employed, patience is needed if it is crowded, because the food is made with care and not promptly thrown together because there is a rush. The decor is phenomenal and very well put together. Makes Ikea look like a dorm room. The good is consistently good and the place is extremely clean. I recommend this place through and through.

best kept secret! this place may be small, but the options are very extensive and the food was great. will definitely be a returning customer. if you're thinking about trying it, don't hesitate! prices are fare, well worth it.
