Anise

Finally we got ourselves to this restaurant after a recommendation several months ago. The afternoon £15 for 3 courses was too good an offer to miss so we opted to go for lunch. The waiter was amazing.. friendly, chatty and funny but certainly not intrusive. The food was top notch. We had 6 dishes between us, too many to go through in a review but none of them let us down. The stand outs were probably the soup starter and chocolate dessert - but everything was great. The vegetables were crunchy, as they should be - everything was seasoned perfectly and all the ingredients tasted like they were bought from good sources. The waiter confirmed they buy local. We will be going back, maybe tomorrow for the English roast with a Mediterranean twist. But if not, certainly for dinner soon so we can choose from their full menu!

What a fascinating experience. From the casual atmosphere juxtaposed with the charming and attentive service from front of house to the unusual yet well cooked, seasoned and presented dishes, each fusing cuisines of multiple Mediterranean regions of origin on one plate. The food was tasty and appetising. Service was timely, accommodating and attentive. I will be delighted to make a return visit anytime. Thank you for a lovely evening.

Lovely evening, menu was well constructed to the point that I found it difficult to whittle down the options. Food was great, combination of flavours clearly well thought of and well balanced. The ambience was extremely easy going and the front of house is extremely personable and very helpful. Cannot wait to go back to experience the rest of the menu.

I have visited Anise for lunch on 3 occasions now and loved it. I am not easy to impress but the menu here is totally different to the standard pub/restaurant food and absolutely delicious with lots of vegetarian options too. Not silly prices, well worth a visit at £15 for 3 courses, must try the evening where they have a 5 course tasting menu for only £25 really good value.

I am a vegan and I had a menu especially created for myself, by the chef/owner Richie, which was totally unexpected. Oh my I thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of my starter, main and dessert. You would never of believed it was vegan. Thank you so much for the experience and I will be definately visiting again.
