Came here with my family and everything we ordered was exceptional. The Goi Cuon and the Curry puff appetizers were both amazing, and our waiter Joey couldn't have been more hospitable or accommodating. He even gave me extra peanuts and peanut sauce on my pad thai, which was also wonderful Great food and great service thanks to Joey for giving us such a positive first experience here!

The servers are so nice and prompt, but that's not even what makes this place. The food was excellent and stands up to Thai and Vietnamese foods high expectations.

Food was decent but a few items are not recommended. Pad Thai was too sweet and not very appetizing. Fresh spring rolls were decent but the peanut sauce wasn't tangy enough. Panang curry and peel 'em shrimp were very good. Service was only okay. It seems like they're more prepared for take out than dine in. We were the only patrons in the restaurant for a 6 o'clock dinner, which was also concerning. We'd try this place again though and hope for a little better luck with some of the entrees.

Wow. I had dinner with my daughter here last week. The food is delicious. I had sesame pork over jasmine rice with a few toppings. The sauces are terrific. The service likewise. My daughter had tofu over salad with toppings, etc. Cost of both meals plus soft drinks with tax was about $17.00 and we left full. Strange that what could be a nice sitdown restaurant is not taken advantage of? But, I'll be back.

I heard about this place through a friend on Facebook. He thought highly of the place, and mentioned Thai tea on tap.

Thai tea on tap? I had to try it out.

Let me start by saying I was impressed with the layout, menu, and the presentation of the food. I ordered the roast pork, with white rice, topped with sweet asian pickled carrots and daikon, roasted green peppers and onions, Thai cucumbers (sweet and spicy; delicious!), Sprouts, peanuts, and peanut sauce.

Let me say first that this meal was the most surprising mix of delicious flavors, sweet, a little spicy, without being overpowering.

This place has made its way into my weekly routine. It's inexpensive, absurdly delicious, and the staff is friendly and respectful. They let me try all kinds of meats and sauces without batting an eye.

Everyone I've shown this place to has loved it. If you haven't tried it, I highly recommend it!

A+ for Sate. Hands down my favorite restaurant around USF. If you like Asian food, then you definitely have to check out Sate. It's like an Asian Chipotle, where you can get a bowl of either rice or noodles as your base, pick a meat (Chicken, steak, shredded pork, or even tofu), all of which has a delicious marinade. They also have salads and sandwiches, with the same fillers. They have a large assortment of vegeatbles, such as pickled carrots, bean sprouts, and spicy or raw cucumbers. They also have a bunch of different sauces to choose from.

It can be a little daunting if it's your first time, because there's just so many options to choose from. But the staff is incredibly friendly, especially the owner, and willing to let you sample as much as you want in order to get a good idea of what you want.

The portions are humongous and I always leave feeling full. Most of my friends end up taking half of their meal home with them because they can't finish it. All of this for around $6-7 is a steal if you ask me. It's hard to find a place that has high quality, fresh food, decent portions, and is reasonably priced. Sate nails them all and you really can't beat this place as far as value for your dollar. He even gives a 10% discount for USF students and faculty.

The atmosphere is really nice and relaxed, but it maintains a classy ambiance. It's a perfect place to go for a casual lunch or dinner date. There's also free wifi, which is great for students or people on business.

If you like Asian food or are even just looking to try something new, I HIGHLY recommend Sate. Apart from homecooked food that my mother makes, Sate has the best Asian food around.

Also, despite what the page says. Sate does have wifi, as well as outdoor seating. Plus, from when I last spoke with the owner, he said he was going to start selling beer and wine soon, but I'm not sure exactly when that will be.

Amazing quality for the price, and the service was great as well. I'll probably be a regular when in town.

Billed as an Asian chipotle, which is a good way to describe it, a rather tasty and inexpensive option for a do-it-yourself Asian meal. I will definitely come back.

Recently I was invited to go to Sate Southeast Asian Grill. It’s a new Asian restaurant on Fowler, right next to USF. They’ve been open about six months but with USF letting out for the summer there has been a slight drop in business– but trust me, it’s not because of the food. Not at all. My first step in this process (as with any new restaurant) is to check on the menu. Sometimes it’s hard, as a vegan, to find new places to eat. So I sent a quick Facebook message asking the following:

My buddy Carlos, from Carlos Eats , asked me to come check this place out and what a interesting and tasty place! It is kind of like a Asian style Chipotle . You pick your type of dish, then each element that you want to go into it. I was a little over ambitious and got a sandwich and a salad so I only got through half of both. I love the different sauces, my favorite was the panang curry and bbq glaze. The unique flavors in the meat and sauces really brought something special to both dishes. This is a a place that can absolutely be made into a chain. I think it offers something different than a one type of cuisine focused spot. The only way I can describe Sate is an Asian restaurant. Their style comes from all over and for the price you can’t beat it! Menu Description Sate Sandwich - Sate Asian Grill, spicy cucumber, & penang curry- $6.55 Different, healthy, and tasty!- 9.0 Have you already been here? Bottom line, the food at Sate is delicious AND a good deal, especially if you’re in the area anyway. Postscript: We both enjoyed our food so much we returned the next night.

Carlos over at Carlos Eats works as a blog marketer for some local Tampa restaurants. One of the restaurants he represents is  Sate Southeast Asian Grill . When he asked if my wife and I would come by and try out some of what the restaurant offered, we jumped at the chance. Afterall, it was one of those places that we planned to visit on our own once her pregnancy food aversions went away. Sate is all about customization. It is like the Asian version of Chipotle (or Little Greek or Your Pie). You, the customer, get to dress your Asian bowl (or Banh Mi) in whatever style you desire. Sate has five or six large boards posted above the counter. Here is where your customization begins. The first board provides you with your base options. You can go Jasmine Rice, Vermicelli Noodle or a Spring Salad if you are looking at a bowl. You could also go with the Sate Sandwich if you want to try out a Banh Mi. J-Fur went with her staple base of Vermicelli Noodle. I went with my staple base of everyth

Absolutely love this place. Feel it doesn't quite get the credit it deserves in terms of footfalls. I have gone there multiple times - with a friend for lunch and dinner. The chef is such a joy to talk to and by now he knows what we like in our food. I like that he is willing to customize the food to our tastes and is very warm with it. Personally, I feel the Pad Thais could be a ;little less sweet but otherwise, we simply love it here.

This place is so good! I'm sick today and all I wanted was good somewhat spicy soup... Yeah, tea, spring rolls and pad thai ended up joining the party. They're incredibly cheap and everything was made fresh, even the soup. I will most definitely be back very soon! I paid $17 for everything, before tip, and will be eating leftovers for the next day or two.

The pad thai was fantastic! I think the other reviewer caught 'em on a bad day. Ambiance was very nice, and staff was super friendly. Portions were definitely a good size, we had plenty of leftovers. Watch out for the heat, medium was plenty for me! Will definitely be coming back when the chance arises.

Great Thai place! Food here is really good and the price is very affordable. The service is a little slow but it is worth it. I tend to go off their lunch menu which only cost $7's, I have not tried their buffet before. Nice environment as well.

We came here on a whim, not knowing where we wanted to go for dinner and I am so glad we did. We will definitely be back! Our server was amazing - he took the time to explain the whole menu to us since it was out first time being there. He recommended his favorites from the menu and we ended up ordering almost everything he mentioned. Prices were great for dinner - we both took home heaping leftovers.

Food was Fantastic, The spice and flavor ratios were right on. My brother and I got to their door late, our first time here, and the owner let us come in anyways and cooked us food for carry out. Great Guy, fun to to talk to.

Best asian food around. Clean, fresh, authentic and delicious. Everything made to order and the owners/cooks are very friendly. This place does not get enough business but people will get terrible low quality dirty fast food chinese all the time for the same price. Support local deliciousness.

Nice place, clean, very nice atmosphere. Service was attentive. Both dishes that were based on ginger and shrimp could have used a lot more ginger and less red pepper flakes for heat.

An Asian version of Chipotle or Qdoba; you pick the base (rice, noodles, salad, sub etc.) the type of meat, the veggies and sauces, and sides. It's a bit of a fusion of Thai and Vietnamese, with spring rolls, summer rolls, peanut sauces etc. Overall, fresh, non-greasy food that's really delicious and you can feel good about. The lettuce and greens here are perhaps the cleanest and most pristine I've seen anywhere, really impressed. They also have thai tea/coffee on tap. They give a USF discount, and the prices are really good for what you get.

Delicious food! Freshly made and full of flavor. My 10 yr old ate veggies, chicken and noodles until he was stuffed. Makes a momma smile to see that!
