This was some of the best food I have eaten in a long time! My partner and I ended up here by chance when the first two restaurants we tried had hour long wait times. I had never even heard of Michael's but I immediately loved the intimate atmosphere and the nice touch of fresh cut flowers on each table. We had to try the crab cakes as the menu described them as #1 in Tampa Bay and they certainly met expectations as such. We also stated with Jeff's fried Brie and the dish more than exceeded expectations. The flavors we're perfectly built. The Brie was crisp, not greasy. The pepper in the crust complimented the slight spice in the strawberry habanero sauce. The dish was sweet, savory, spicy, and perfectly textured. I can't wait to go back for more. For dinner we decided to share an entree since we weren't terribly hungry and we went with the steak au poivre. The filet was perfectly seasoned, melted in your mouth, was perfectly cooked, and had a wonderfully textured crust. The rustic mash and even the seasoned veggies were perfectly seasoned and cooked. The food was so amazing and for the price, you can't beat the quality and flavor of what you're getting here.
The wait staff was attentive and kind, and the manager (possibly owner?) was there helping out and talking to tables, making sure everyone was having the perfect evening.
A hidden gem! I'm honestly upset that I did not find out about this restaurant sooner because I have lived in the area for awhile and will be moving away soon. I will definitely be returning at some point during my last two weeks in Florida!
MICHAELS GRILL is a unique restaurant, beyond the ordinary, in the Tampa Bay area where family and friends come together for brunch, lunch and fine dining with in an elegant British pub atmosphere. Hosted by Andrea and Michael since the turn of the century. Simply the best with great food with amazing presentation, awesome service in there sincere way, and exquisite hammered steel place settings tha matches the decor. Whether dining inside or Al Fresco under the stars, enjoying a bottle of fine wine or a handcrafted cocktail, MICHAELS is the place to see and a place to be seen. Truly, A Culinary Delight!

We made a great discovery today. Michaels Grill is now open for breakfast everyday at 8am. Try the Brioche French Toast.
Generally pretty good. We normally go to Michael's for brunch/lunch on the weekends and on average the food is quite good, particularly if Michael is doing the cooking. The wait staff usually includes a set of regulars who are excellent, but there have been some significant issues with new staff in the past.
Amazing food!!!. The best crab bisque ever! Never disappointed. Desserts are delicious and food is amazing.
Quiet, Cozy, and Romantic. Excellent, high-quality (but moderately authentic) food. Splurge on a lunch with your partner at Michael's if you want to feel pampered and warm.
Generally a fine dinner. I visited Michael's Grill with two others tonight for the first time. We arrived for an early dinner. I ordered Southwestern Pork with a Caesar Salad and a side called Chef's Potato. Entrees for my dinner guests were a shrimp and pasta dish with the interesting name Falling in Love, and Steak Oscar. The bread we were given at the beginning of the meal was pretty small and standard. My salad had a slightly unusual taste I could not pin down and was just a little spicy (likely pepper as part of the dressing). I liked it. The Southwestern Pork, which I had expected to have a little kick with its spicy pepper cream sauce, was too bland but ok. The pork tenderloin itself was very good. The chef's potato was a baked potato stuffed with a blend of sour cream, bacon , chives, topped with cheese, and of course, potato. Not something I ever really order so it was a nice treat, and the best part of my meal. The vegetables that were included were healthy / basic.
The person with the Steak Oscar thought the meat tasted a few days old. She got the béarnaise sauce on the side so had a nice sampling of just the meat. The third person did not fall in love with Falling in Love, but said it was very good.
Service and atmosphere was fine, not perfect but good enough. There was no delay in getting our food. While it was not an evening to rave about, it was generally a fine dinner.
We've been eating at Michael's almost every week for more than two years. This has been a family favorite. However, over the past few months the quality of the service and the food has really declined.
What A Find!. We ordered through Jenn's Wine Shop (right next door to Michael's Grill) b/c we were getting very hungry and noticed that other wine customers were dining on some pretty nice looking food. First, how nice is it that a server from Michael's came by, set our table, and took our order and delievered it to us, all while we sat in another business? Second, the food was upscale with clean, simple bistro flavors. This wasn't the run of the mill delivery food. It was fantastic!
The Steak Au Poivre was awesome. The peppercorn crusted top was made with 3 different types of finely ground peppercorns, so the flavor was a subtle heat and the pepper cream sauce that the steak rested on was a nice velvet texture that enhanced the richness of the meat. The entree even lends itself to being split by 2 (which is what we did) due to the fact that it has 2 4-oz. filets instead of 1 large 8-oz. steak. We substitued the starch for more veggies, asked for the salad dressing (delish!) on the side, and ate relatively light & healthy but were completely satistfied with the dinner.
Good job, Michael's Grill!
Carrollwood's High End. Michaels Grill last night was as outstanding as ever. Food, service the desire to please cutomers. Michaels Grill has it all!
Best Steaks In Carrollwood!. Michael's is one of those quite, cozy and unique places you always want to find, giving you a great place to enjoy a quality upscale meal without the hype or BS you might find at upscale chains. The food here is all top notch and well worth the dinner reservation. They also have fantastic lunch specials and can provide that needed pickmeup we all experience in the work week, oh say around Wednesday or Thursday by providing a terrific upscale lunch at a reasonable price. My personal favorite dish being the Filet Au Poivre....so tender and excellent. The crab bisque also being excellent along with any of their pasta or beef offerings. Whether it's date night, a power lunch or an anniversary you really cannot go wrong with a visit to Michael's Grill.
Perfect!. My wife and I go there all the time. Her favorite dessert is chocolate truffles and the owner makes them herself. Their fillet with aupoure sauce excuse my spelling of the sauce was better than the best steakhouses in Tampa. They can makea great drink. We look forward to going there again.
After a day of negativity we came here to unwind and get centered again. Food service and atmosphere was amazing we will be back!!! No wonder they have been open for 23 years 😏 waitress was a sweetheart
This was such a pleasant surprise! I have never been here before but I met my hubby for lunch and all I can say is AMAZING! It’s an intimate and cozy spot with wonderful food! The menu options are great! The staff is pleasant and professional! We got our food quickly and the portions are more than enough!! I will definitely be back!
Great first time experience. Henry, our server, was outstanding and very informative. We will return!
What a wonderful French restaurant. It was quiet and romantic. They placed beautiful soothing music. Thankfully they sat us in the back away from the door, but there was also delightful outside seating.the waitress, Lady, was adorable, efficient, and attentive. The food was amazing. Every dish was delicious and gorgeous! We will definitely be coming back to this stupendous restaurant!
Made reservations here for my wife's birthday with some friends, this place did not disappoint .If you make it past the outstanding appetizers the entrees were fabulous . Fresh florida grouper, pork diana and the special red snapper were our favorites on this visit .For a special occasion or a night out this place is a must try you wont be disappointed.
It was our second times at this restaurant and it was great. Staffs were nice, professional and friendly. Nice atmosphere and decoration in side. There were room, one with open kitchen and other with a full bar. Also lovely outdoor seating. Food and drinks were delicious. We got bottle white sangria, great flavor, fresh chunks of fruit, top with mix cinnamon & sugar. Started with chef smoked fish, main course Little chicken with pasta, London scallops, desert chocolate mousse and they were all so tasty. A little pricey, but it worth to eat here. Nice place for romantic dining and enjoy the food and drinks.
We come here every time we want fresh & deliciously prepared fish!! You’d think in Tampa there would be many good places to find FRESH fish that is not fried but there’s hardly any (& we’ve tried many places). we’ve had the grouper and tuna, both prepared perfectly each time. We’ve had their steak as well which my husband said was good. The service is always friendly. The menu is slightly pricey (entrees are $30-$50) BUT there’s a lot of value - you’re not paying high prices for a mediocre small meal, they have great portions and it’s high quality.
Holly was the best besides the food. The only way I can describe the fried Brie and the salmon with key lime dill sauce….TASTE EXPLOSION! We came back for lunch and had the lobster roll and other delicious entrees. We will definitely come back to Michael’s Grill the next time we’re in Tampa. Thanks again Holly for your excellent service and recommendations!!!
The restaurant is amazing. The food is amazing. The staff is amazing. This place is a clinic for any restaurant in all realms of product and service. And it’s honest. There are not many places in Tampa that has all these qualities.
The only negative part of the experience is that it is adjacent to a wine place that has outdoor live music and you are at the mercy of the talent who, on my visit, was singing songs with cursing in it. You are also at the mercy of their cigars outside. The smell is offensive.
The hostess and my server were great. The other servers seemed to be doing really great for their customers and the other patrons seemed very pleased.
I ordered chicken Mac and Cheese which was tasty. The bread and spread was satisfying. Red Sangria the best I’ve had. And I ordered the The whipped cream topping, strawberries and blueberries were refreshing.
I've been here twice, in three years. I can happily tell you that they're still cranking out excellent food. The French onion soup was fantastic, with fried onions on top. I had the chicken Julie, which was a grilled chicken sandwich, sandwiched between a thick cut of fried brie and a pear chutney. Very well done. Highly recommend this lovely little spot.
