Food was AMAZING, I haven't been here in years and when I walked in I was shocked to the updated space, everything is new and everyone very friendly. The only thing that did sorta bum me out was I looked at the online menu before coming, and chose what I wanted to eat so I could order imediatly when I came in. But when I was sat I discovered that at lunch time they do not have the whole menu, they have a special lunch menu only they serve from. But I was able to pick something off the lunch menu very quickly and it was still amazing. So they should update that on the website, showing the lunch menu also. But either way, this just means I have to come back for dinner now :) which I will be soon ! I suggest you try this place out .
Absolutely amazing. I've been here twice now, once for lunch and tonight for dinner. The food is the best Thai I've ever had and the presentation is top notch. Plus you can't beat $3 mixed drinks that did not disappoint. The service is a bit slow but honestly, it's worth it. We will be regular customers!
First time in awhile. The buffet was gone and table service was perfect. I had the Bangkok Chicken, absolutely superb lunch for $8.55! I will be back a lot to try out their other lunch options. I highly recommend. The Real Allen Thompson 6-27-2017
Just ate a wonderful plate of chicken fried rice. Everything was cooked and seasoned perfectly, I love the presentation. Really happy I followed my cousin's suggestion to try this restaurant!
Chicken Pad Thai was so good. I love their high ball glass for Thai Tea with whipped cream on top.
BEST Thai food and Sushi in Tallahassee, no doubt! The flavors are SO fresh! Try the Tom Yum Goong soup... unbelievable you taste all the fresh ingredients! The sushi rolls are beautiful, large, absolutely delicious! Service excellent, atmosphere is cozy, yet very nice!
What a relief to finally find an authentic Thai restaurant in town! We've lived here for a year and this was our first time trying Bahn Thai. The drink specials and service were fantastic. Crab Rangoon and Pad See Ew were on point. That plum sauce was a perfect pair with the crab Rangoon. We will definitely be back
We love the food here, especially the avocado rolls and fried tofu. They are great about accommodating for Vegan dishes. Everything we’ve had is delicious, we go there regularly.
The service was great and the food was excellent. Highly recommended.
The best authentic Thai food and sushi around!! New owners that have brought fresh and superb Thai food to Tallahassee!
Awesome! The best Thai food in Tallahassee! Bring your friends and family you will not be disappointed. Modern interior decoration. Cozy and friendly. Perfect for any outings. Great food, excellence service!
I'm a Tallahassee native and am ashamed to say I tried it for the first time. I was missing out on life!!! The presentation of the dishes is beautiful and the flavors are fresh and complex. The best part is that if you have picky eaters as friends, they now have a seafood boil/fry menu full of southern favorites. The pineapple duck curry will make you cry tears of joy!!!
Extremely pleased every visit! Quick service and a great atmosphere.
Love this place. I usually get the red curry with chicken and Thai tea. My family ordered the pad see-ew and volcano shrimp with crab rangoon. Everything was delicious! The presentation of the food is so beautiful. The staff is always so nice and helpful when I have questions about the menu. The food does take a bit longer to come out, but I have overheard the owner say it's just him and his wife in the back cooking, so that's understandable. It's always worth the wait!
FYI- They do temporarily stop doing takeout when the inside of the restaurant is full. They are short staffed.
And at times some items on the menu aren't available. I'm guessing that may have something to do with staffing too, but I've never asked. Just be ready with a backup option.
Food were good in general. We ordered 3 dishes. Two of them were very good. The third was OK to me even though my kids like it. Thai tea drink was very good. Arrived around 8 Friday night. There was only one server. She informed it would be 40 minutes wait for food if we decide to stay. Not in the mood for other type of food, so we stayed. Appetizer came within 20 minutes, and main courses came 10 minutes later. So, it was quicker than expected. I felt bad for the server. She seemed having trouble with walking and had to serve 6 tables with food, drink, take order, and clean up.
My go-to Thai dish is Red Curry. Bahn Thai Restaurant has a nice curry with beautifully bright vegetables. I like my curry so hot my eyes sweat, but this was my first time at this restaurant, and the server suggested medium. He told me if it wasn't spicy enough, he could bring me extra chili. Medium definitely did not hit it for me. If you like it hot get hot. I added an additional 3 full scoops of chili. I wasn't sweating, but the curry had some heat and a nice flavor.
I also recommend getting the Thai iced tea. You deserve it!
This was my first time visiting Bahn Thai, yet it certainly won't be my last. I truly enjoyed the food, and the taste was so delicious. The service was great but wasn't too pleased with receiving the appetizer after the meal. The portions are very generous and worth the price. I will visit again, and recommend you try this place for authentic Thai food.
They warned the wait time for food is long but it’s always delivered fresh and seems like so much care and individuality is put into it. Everything is well worth the wait and delicious.
Lots of people think they’ve closed. Nope! In a new location on Apalachee Parkway, Bhan Thai is still yummy food for a good price.
I give the food (Pad Thai with tofu and medium spice) a real thumbs up. Delicious! The staff were sweet and attentive. I really appreciated them and their attention. My dining partner and I were only disappointed when, 30 minutes after we ordered, the kitchen was finally started our meals. So, it took about 40 minutes to be served. We were hungry!!
The atmosphere was warm and nice. The place was good and clean. The prices were darned good.
I live in California, where there's so many Thai restaurants. I'm in Tallahassee visiting with my daughters for Turkey Day and went to Bahn Thai day prior. My favorite Thai dish is yellow chicken curry, and Bahn Thai is a top Thai restaurant for me.
Excellent taste (almost authentic)! More sugary taste (the pad Thai) and a mild spicy flavor (the yellow curry) than the authentic ones, but a moreish and umami taste!
Food = delicious. Atmosphere = perfect for a date or dining alone. Customer service = flawless. Parking = ample parking spaces. Pricing = no complaints there.
I had their Thai tea, chicken spring rolls, and fried rice with chicken. Everything was delicious and cost me less than 30 bucks. The portion size of the fried rice was way more than I expected—which is a good thing. The hostess was was very professional and cute.
I'll be back.
Well our first visit we were turned away due to not having enough employees in the kitchen. Second visit, we ordered Pad See-Ew, Seafood Tom Yum & Yellow Curry. Thai tea beverage. I thought the food was tasty and delicious. Would I return? Yes, but (non-alcohol) restaurant. My visits would be more often over a cold Singha with my meal. Thanks...
Food: 5 stars
Service: "now hiring two servers."
tl;dr: Do order it. Order take out if you want it quick.
We stopped by at the end of a long day with travel. We ordered two Pad Thai Chicken, a Sweet and Sour chicken and the Avocado Spring roll, also Thai iced tea, and the Chicken Gyoza. The food was delicious and please note Thai style spring roll and sweet and sour are very different from the Chinese dishes. The spring roll wrapper is translucent and pliable, and the dish more akin to a wrap than a fried appetizer. Sorry about no pics, I was beat and ate then went to bed.
Unfortunately they only had one server working and she informed us that there would be a long wait time for the foods, something like 45 minutes. This was too long for our travel weary kids, so we converted the order to a pick-up/take out and came back after checking into our hotel. Not the server or the business' fault. They are advertising for two full time server positions.
I do recommend Baan Thai for their delicious dishes. If you want an extended dining experience, go in for sit down service. As I tell my kids: if you have to wait for your food, that means they are making it fresh. If you are interested in a quicker situation, order
My father who was raised partially in Thailand told me that an authentic Thai joint will have a picture of the king in it, as opposed to some ppl of another nationality peddling Thai food. As you can see from my pics, both the current and former kings are given prominent places.
The building has good parking, is located along a main drag, and the structure is a few decades old so it has that cool funky layout. The corner booth is a big circular deal with huge windows so a great view.
If you come here looking for a taste of authentic Thai food you will receive it. I would definitely eat here again.
I went to eat here not too long ago and I ordered the Chicken Pad Thai. From a Thai restaurant, I was expecting their spice levels to be pretty high, but I ordered Hot and it wasn't spicy. The Pad Thai was also super sweet and felt like I had dessert. I have had a lot of Thai food and this is the sweetest Pad Thai I have ever had. I'd consider changing up the recipe. The portions were really good, I just don't think I would order that Pad Thai again.
I stopped by while staying at the Tru Hotel across the street. The food was great. I had the Spicy Land and Sea.
so delicious !! went with a friend last night and we ordered the crispy chicken spring rolls, pad woon sen with chicken, and the yellow curry with steamed tofu. everything we ate was incredible, the pad woon sen in particular was really wonderful, and i had enough leftover to have for lunch today! also, i like that they have different levels of spice, i ordered my entree medium hot, but they have options for mild, hot, and thai hot as well. the restaurant was super cute and had a really nice atmosphere, nice place to sit and catch up with great food. the service was excellent also, i didn’t catch her name but the server we had was really nice and helpful with the menu and any questions we had. the portion sizes were extremely generous, great value for the price. definitely recommend !! will be coming back.
I came here and the food and ambiance was amazing. The crunch spring roll with that mango sauce is amazing . The pad Thai is definitely a great meal to have if your trying Thai food for the first.
Very good Thai food. Tried the snapper filet in panang curry spicy and the drunken noodles with tofu. Food took a bit long to prepare but was good and service courteous and efficient.
The outside looks like it is a small hole in the wall place...but then you step inside. The place has such a nice ambiance, the plates, the doilies, the cloth napkins sitting neatly on the table...then you order.
The Tom Kha is the best I have yet to have. I highly recommend it. We had the chicken spring rolls and while my husband enjoyed the Pad Thai I had the vegetable teriyaki with chicken. Make sure you come hungry or get a to go plate. Excellent food for a reasonable price. We will be going again. Highly recommend
Best Thai food in Tallahassee. Trust me. If you haven't, try the 4 hour Massaman curry braised beef. It's a hidden treasure and the best item on the menu I've ever had. Chicken panang is always staple and delicious. Avocado spring rolls and chicken gyoza are amazing appetizers 😋. Enjoy!
