The Mission Restaurant is 5 out of 5 for atmosphere and a 3 out of 5 for food. It is a beautifully recreation of a Mexican restaurant and Mission INSIDE an old Church. The service was excellent and out waitress was great with our 8 and 11 year-old children and very accommodating.
The food in general was a 3 out of 5. The standout dish was my son's puerco pibil burrito. The flavor was spot on with what we had in the Yucatan. The achiote taste to the pork was exactly what you would expect from a Yucatan dish.
We also had the Carne Asada and fish tacos. Both of which were good but not great. They both tasted like what a person who never traveled THOUGHT the dishes should taste like but only followed a recipe. Both were good dishes but only passable.
On the downside was my wife's the margarita. It was just about the worst margarita we've ever had. It tasted like a margarita mix that was not mixed correctly with the top much of the concentrate and very little tequila.
All in all, I would recommend going to The Mission Restaurant for the ambiance, service and the puerco pibil... Maybe for a date night...

You'll pay for every little add-on and there are no complimentary chips & salsa... However, everything was delicious and you can tell it was made with fresh ingredients. Overall, would definitely recommend! Extremely good. Nice Syracuse spot.

Great little place! They have a brunch menu on Sunday. Had the sweet potato chorizo hash. It was awesome! They won an award for that dish in 2018. If you need a accessible entrance, go to the left if you are standing in front of the building.

The restaurant is just opposite Columbus circle and hard to miss. The internal decoration is very warm and will shift your mindset. The menu is quite good to select some delicacies and price wise pocket friendly. A must visit for anyone visiting Syracuse.

I enjoyed their Carne Asada in Mushrooms & Demi Glaze,
The Mrs. had the Pork Shoulder although the previous Chipotle butter Steak was Phenomenal!!!
I hope they bring it back as well as their Fried Avocado...

High quality food, big portions, great service, and it’s in an old church, what more can you ask for?

Server was a bit disorganized and didn't know with menu selections we're available. Burritos and salad we're delicious, will be back.

Excellent food. Tortilla soup was so different than any other. The homemade salsa with their own green sauce was amazing. Waitress was so well informed about the restuarant and it's food. The authenticity of the church was also incredible. Not from the area, but will go back when in town.

Did you ever hear of a Mojito made with a wine based alcohol? I was skeptical but the Mission does not have a liquor license so the drink selection was limited. It was EXCELLENT!!!!!!!

We went there for brunch and were not disappointed. From the amazing place to the great food, we had a blast. Good mimosas, we all loved our food, our waiter was nice and we felt like we were back in Santa Barbara for a minute. A restaurant in an old church? Amazing. And it gets better when you walk in. Don’t hesitate.

Bar tender doesn’t pay attention to the customers to busy trying to fill orders from the seating area and her phone. All food was delicious. The server we had was very good and did a great job. For a small menu they have the turnover time should be better. Saw one one the cooks tasting food with his fingers and that grossed me out glad it wasn’t mine

“Our favorite family dinner!!”
Every time we go to Lemongrass, it is excellent! The food is always fresh with lots of seafood options, creative specials & nice size potions! The restaurant does an excellent job with gluten free options as well. Service is always great and reservations are managed very well. Can't wait to go back!

I have been here three times. If you go for dinner, the food/service is ok.
But for Sunday lunch, we waited over an hour for our food. The food was cold and the service was slow. In my opinion, the brunch menu is limited and the portions are way too small for the price paid.
Growing up on Mexican food, this place is a sad replica of what real Mexican food could be. Sorry Mission Restaurant, try again.

We walked in at 11:30 am and we were the 2nd table to walk in. We asked to sit away from the door, and the guy told no...we had to pay for our own chips and salsa, which was a cup of chopped tomatoes.
We ordered a bottle of wine and the waiter dropped the bottle wine and said here you go, and walked away. No presentation now did pour the wine.
I order the stew and asked for a large bowl. I was told I could only have a medium bowl, because they didn’t have enough....I was one of the first customers in the restaurant. At any rate, they did me a favor...the stew was salty. I took a few bites and pushed it away.
That was my experience, it will not be going back.

The food was tasty however nothing special. It was clearly previously prepared and thrown together to order. They seem to want to portray a more upscale restaurant with the menu and the price structure but is is essentially a taqueria with a glossy atmosphere. There is much better authentic Mexican food out there and for better value but it is a pretty place being housed in a former church.

My friend and I asked for chips and salsa (because it isn't free?), and were given a cup of chopped tomatoes, and then we asked for a different salsa we were given like literal tomato sauce or something. The waitress messed up my order (probably because she didn't write it down) but I was already mad about the service so I didn't say anything. The food was decent - if you're used to really amazing Mexican food.. this isn't gonna do much for you. A few days after coming here, I was charged again for my meal but this time at a different price. I've asked several times for a refund and never got one. I call and the manager doesn't call me back. I was told I'd get a refund one morning and never did.

Love this place. Great atmosphere and great food. The sangria is awesome. Definitely a place to try if you are downtown

Had an absolutely incredible dinner at The Mission last night (9/15/16). Our server Doug was one of the best server's we're ever had. Period. And we travel and dine in restaurants multiple times per week. Doug made wonderful recommendations about the menu, presented the specials in detail and with enthusiasm. He anticipated what we needed before we even asked and made our experience wonderful. Not to mention the food was absolutely delicious. The soup of the day was amazing and everything was fresh and beautifully presented. Will come back more often now.

I love the Steve Mo! Great ambience, great vibe, great food, and great attentive service from Miss Jess.
If you hafta go to church on Sunday? Go to The Mission for brunch in the sanctuary of Yummiosity.

I thought the whole concept was fantastic! Great vibe when we walked in off the street into a cool Mexican villa, with great authentic food, friendly and cool servers (Liz), and good music and drinks. My kids loved it and so did my wife and I. The mole sauce was my favorite. Thanks for making our first visit to Syracuse memorable. My 12 year old son led us there on his phone on foot!

The service was stoic, not overly friendly. Served by two different people who weren't communicating. One drink, a margherita, came within a few minutes and had no alcohol in it. The other drink ordered at the same time, a simple beer, took another 10 minutes. They served the wrong dinners to us. The food wasn't any better than Mexican fast food. Previously had good experiences here, but not this day.

So my wife and I typically like going to the Mission, though you are limited to beer, wine and wine margaritas we like going here for it’s cool atmosphere and good Mexican food. Yesterday, during the Arts and Crafts festival, we took our friends who we use to work with in Faneuil Hall in Boston at the restaurant Serendipity3, who recently have moved to the area. We talked up the Mission, hoping to get them more excited about the area. Well, sadly we waited for a bit to be seated, and when someone finally acknowledged us, they did so without a smile, without a hello or salutations, just a “How many?” Making all four of us feel we were a major inconvenience. We were then sat and then ignored. No one approached us, or greeted us or even acknowledged us to say they’d be right with us. This is not the experience I was hoping for my friends first time checking out a restaurant in downtown Syracuse, their new home. We decided to leave, once again no one acknowledged this or tried to encourage us to stay... the hostess and waitstaff at Otro Cinco were happy to accommodate and went out of their way to bus a table outside so that we could sit there. Being former restaurant people, this is our expectation. Every employee should welcome a customer into a restaurant with kindness and respect. Waitstaff and bartenders can make or break a restaurant even though they have great food. My friends, new to the area expressed sadly, that they will most likely not give it a second chance. Hard to overcome a poor first impression.

The owner is the chef and he prepares wonderful dishes. It’s always presented beautifully as well. Great atmosphere!

I'll keep it simple. I've been a faithful customer over 10 years....my absolute favorite is beef burrito with black beans and papaya habanero salsa. Love the food, love the owner Steve
