Newly remodeled. Very clean. Fast and friendly service. Their bbq egg rolls were very good. I ordered their smoked turkey. Very good and not dry at all. Will definitely be back. My husband ordered the brisket grilled cheese. He loved it. Really enjoy Sonny's everytime we go.
In general, I like Sonny's BBQ. The food is good and the service is almost always excellent. Such was the case when we visited this location in Starke, FL.
We were traveling through the area and hit Starke right ahead of the lunch rush. So, we pulled in and grabbed a hearty lunch before getting back on the road.
As it turns out, we were the first customers seated. I've been in a number of restaurants that seemed unready for the first customers of the day. That was not the case here - from the minute we walked in we had perfect service and a great meal.
We ordered a number of the BBQ sandwich options and all were tasty. Plus, they were ready very quickly.
This location has been updated, so the booths, lighting, floor, decor, etc have all been refreshed. It's a great looking spot.
The parking lot is a bit odd, but worth navigating for the food and service. We'll be stopping here again!
Kudos to the waitress who was setting the door, busting tables and waiting on guest. I watched this woman run non stop Sunday when I visited ( it was clearly busy) and still greeted people with a smile. I didn't get her name but hope she gets recognized. To the server with the colorful sleeve tattoo you rock! I'll definitely return and ask for her
Stopped in for dinner, was a bit busy but was seated immediately. Very friendly staff and helpful. The food was really good too. Started with wings, they were very flavorful. Next for our meal we had Pork 3 ways and a Whole Hog big deal. Great meal and they even serve cocktails now.
Pulled pork was great, the kid working the window was very sweet. He was obviously under supported because he was pretty much the only person I saw for the 45 minute take out experience doing everything for both take out windows while trying to bag all the orders. I understand staffing shortages, however I would try not to let my team struggle like that for that long. Maybe something to keep in mind when scheduling in the future.
After a couple weeks of seafood and salads a barbecued sandwich sounded good. And it was. The air conditioning was cranking so if you're prone to chills, you'll enjoy a cover. We didn't have alcahol this time but there is local brew and such. The pork was had by the four of us and it was tasty and moist. One had and enjoyed the old fashioned banana pudding. Sauces are on the table and the huge iced teas were willingly refilled. Anna was pleasant and ready to serve. Good stop.
We had a wonderful meal at Sonny's in Starke, FL & our server, Traci was awesome! She explained everything and was great with us in customer service & friendliness! She felt like family! Would definitely eat her again for the great food & be taken care of by Traci!
