Fantastic, low price brazilian steakhouse. I have now eaten at this restaurant twice, and each time has been exceptional. The first time was several months ago, and despite that, when we came in, both the manager and a server welcomed us back. I have gone to at least five different Brazilian steakhouses (including Fogo), and this one is my favorite.
Their salad bar is small, but has very high quality, interesting items on it. Yesterday, I enjoyed their fresh mozzeralla cheese, their green beans, asparagus, olives, and... some vegetable that almost tasted like a citris fruit that I could not identify and did not think to ask.
Like every Brazilian restauarant, when you are ready to get unlimited meat, you do something to indicate to your waiters. In this case, you flip a coaster from its red side to green.
As soon as you turn your coaster green, the side dishes arrive. Delicious bread bites with cheese inside, mashed potatoes that are tasty, despite being either overwhipped or from a box, fried plantains, buttered rice, and black beans. If we came close to emptying these plates, the servers would whisk the plate away and give us a new full version.
The servers were excellent. The meat came out medium, which was too rare for my girlfriend, so they went back and cooked it up to medium-well/well done, bringing her the results and putting almost all of it on her plate. They were also very attentive - on hearing that we don't eat pork products, they made a point to not even bring those to our table.
Their selection of meats was impressive. Last night, they offered: house special steak, filet mignon, baby beef (I have no idea what that means. They did not say veal.), bottom sirloin, lambchops, beef ribs, and chicken legs. All were excellent. The chicken was fabulous - crispy outside, juicy tender inside, and melt-in-your-mouth seasoning. The beef ribs were the least interesting, and even they were great. The seasoning on all of them lit up my senses and made me just close my eyes and go mmmm. My girlfriend enjoyed her specially-prepared cuts.
I also saw other meats go by - bacon wrapped filet, bacon wrapped chicken, pork ribs and sausages.
We each ate more than our fill, and when we turned our coaster back from green to red, they offered us dessert. I saw someone else get the desserts. The pieces were huge. We were so full of wonderful meats that we couldn't even remotely consider eating the desserts.
The price per person was $32.50, though it will be going up to $34.50 soon. Tradicao is not pretentious. You could go there dressed formally, but you do not have to. It is friendly and welcoming, rather than unnecessarily elegant. You can find a coupon to Tradicao on restaurant.com. It is a wonderful meal for a special occassion.
