Stack 'n' Sizzle

Finally made it to the Stack 'n' Sizzle cafe on 49th Street (@ 4th Ave South). While the exterior of the building has not changed much on the outside (Except for the Sizzling Signage) the interior has had a major makeover since the last breakfast joint departed. I arrived alone for a late breakfast and chose a seat near the window. The new tables & chairs are a welcome upgrade. The menu is creative but I will always admit to being a creature of habit when it comes to eating breakfast out. I ordered the Country Fried Steak with two eggs over-easy, grits, toast, hash brown (cubed & fried) potatoes & an awesome cup of coffee. The entire breakfast was seasoned very well and to my taste. I really enjoyed the potatoes! The steak is tender and the gravy has real chunks of sausage in it (unlike canned gravy you might find elsewhere). My eggs were perfectly cooked over easy and I mixed one into my grits while placing the other on top of the steak. Let us not forget this huge cup of delicious coffee! I was desperate for coffee after a fasting labs visit at my doctors that ran extremely long... I can live without food in the morning, but do not delay my coffee! This huge mug of coffee goodness lasted for my entire meal without the need for refill. While you may not often think of this little place in a very tired strip center on 49th street, I suggest, if you are in central St Pete and need a good meal or a great cup of Joe.... Stop in to the Stack 'n' Sizzle.

One of my new favorites! Portions are plentiful. We never bring breakfast leftovers home, but we do from here! Always have extra homefries and they reheat in a frying pan well. Love the huge cups of coffee!! Also like that you get a slice of toast, homefries and choice of grits or pancakes with most egg dishes. My only complaints would be that my eggs have been overcooked each time i have gone in - tried an omlette, over easy and poached. But, overall the Yum factor out weighs my complaints so I didn't even knock them a star.

Update: Have been disappointed in the consistency of the food ever since the new management took over. The menu has drastically changed, we truly miss having Zach as the manager there. Not sure we'll be returning anytime soon. This is our new favorite breakfast spot, the portions are large, reasonably priced and the service is very attentive. Great asset to the 49th St S neighborhood. Continue on with the superb quality and service!

Very friendly atmosphere. Waitress was a sweetheart. Place is Very well kept. Food is very good. They remodeled the place & was well worth it. Cook has a heart of gold. Lindy is an awesome waitress very down to earth.They are very generous w/the food portions. Thumbs up all the way. Thank u for ur services.
