Review Press Restaurant - St. Helena

This place was a complete surprise and even though they are only one Michelin Star, they manage to beat French Laundry and at half the price! Got the tasting menu. Skipped the wine pairing. The free dish they gave us in the beginning was so good. Geoduck on some frozen salty cucumber. Was blown away with the creativity. Their first dish is actually three separate things. Trout tartar perfectly salted, the crispy salmon skin with caviar is mind blowing good. The poached lobster was also great! The next dish showed how they are able to balance fatty rich flavors by providing some acidic flavors. The pork jowl is amazing. But so rich with the coconut sauce. But underneath is some acidic vegetables to the rescue. I’m not a cheese guy so didn’t care for the ricotta. But the mushroom and broth was intense. We also had the pasta with black truffles and corn. It is sweet and the pasta was al dente. Very rich. The halibut dish was ingenious with explosions of flavors. So good. Probably my favorite next to the salmon chip. The steak is good too with the smoky mushroom sauce. Next cheese dish I ate everything except the cheese. The last dish was the chocolate dessert with the olive oil sorbet. Very good. I highly recommend everyone give this place a try. Their creativity with their dishes were outstanding. The wait staff were all very good.

Food, service, drinks and atmosphere were impeccable. It’s truly a high end experience. I love how much they experiment with food here. The flavors, freshness and presentation of the food was so impressive. The wait staff and sommeliers on staff were so friendly and knowledgeable. While the price is high, it’s definitely worth the visit and you get what you pay for. Would love to go again. Will be thinking about this meal for a while.

Press is a high class establishment! Wonderful food. I highly recommend the NY Strip. The desserts were sensational. Nice cocktail list. 5 star service all the way.

We recently came here to celebrate our 9-year wedding anniversary and had such a nice time! The service was exceptional. I can’t even count how many people came out to serve us. Everyone was very nice and attentive to our needs. The presentation of the food was impeccable and it was all delicious! We did the four-course meal and ordered: green tomato, grilled lobster, braised Romano beans, ricotta gnudi, 45-day tomahawk, black cod, cafe au lait and brown butter maple cremeux. The vintage wine recommended by their master sommelier went perfectly with it all! The main dining area inside is bustling and loud. We were seated outside where the music was a lot quieter. At times it was a little too quiet and had to ask for the music to be a little louder but overall I think I’m glad we were in a more intimate setting for our occasion. The party was definitely inside lol. If I had to be super picky, it was a little disappointing to see people there with jeans and kicks. Hopefully they can be a little more strict with dress code to uphold the restaurant status and reputation. The restaurant has a Michelin star and they have a master sommelier on staff. There aren’t many master sommeliers in the world at all. It was nice he came by our table as well. So overall, world class wine paired perfectly with fine food. Can you beat that?

Pretty stellar food selection for the Prix Fixe menu - were pescatarian and the selection was quite good - vegetarian options as well were bountiful. Wine selection was as expected for Napa - we stuck with wine by the glass. I would say it overall earned the *.

I went to Press for my birthday earlier this week. My service was exceptional. Everyone was gracious and lovely and went above and beyond to make the experience special. The care and knowledge they have of their guests and menu is noteworthy. My server was Mathew. He was fantastic! The food was excellently timed and presented. The courses were well paired with wine. I left the choice up to them and I’m so glad I did. The dishes were plated beautifully. The quality was notable. The contrast and compatibility of flavors remarkable. I didn’t love all the dishes equally but I’ve included pictures of my favorites. The only thing I didn’t especially enjoy was the choice of music. To eclectic without consideration for ambiance, in my opinion. I read the less than favorable reviews before I went but it’s worth trying for yourself! I’m so glad I did. It was a highlight of my trip.

Food was absolutely fantastic. The Gnudi was delicious. We got the 7 course meal each. Great courses, wonderful flavours and excellent service. Definitely pricy but delicious food explosions for each course.

Chef restaurant with high-end dishes and great service. The place is beautiful with great design. The pretzel to start with was great. The chicken and the gnudi were yummy. Don't skip the dessert. They're delicious

Pound for Pound one of my favorite restaurants I’ve ever been to. Every single dish was mind blowing and there was not one forgettable item on the menu. The Ricotta Gnudi may very well be a top 3 dish i have ever ordered! Some other items that I loved included the chicken (don’t let the fact that it’s chicken scare you away) and the yellow tail belly. The service was phenomenal and the vibe at this restaurant is awesome. One thing I really appreciated was that it was not stuffy at all. This will now be a staple for our future Napa trips.

One of the excellent restaurants in Napa! Great service, great knowledge in dishes and wines we received from the server, Kahlil! Must come back soon.

From the service to the food and cocktails we had an amazing experience. Our server was knowledgeable about the extensive wine list and was personable which really contributed to our positive dining experience. We opted for the 4 course pre-fixe menu and each dish was unique and flavorful. I'd definitely recommend this restaurant to any friends looking for a recommendation in Napa Valley.

When we were too late to make reservations at French Laundry we came here and Loved the experience. We have eaten at Per Se btw.

A beautiful backdrop, a warm interior, outstanding service, and delicious dishes made our experience at Press one to remember. While the portions are small, the flavors were impactful. The wine pairings were also flawless. After dinner, we enjoyed a night cap outside on the back patio, sitting in front of a glass coffee table that had a fire inside (very interesting). The Michelin rating on this restaurant is well deserved.

Lovely atmosphere for dinner. The staff was very friendly in the restaurant had a peaceful environment. All of our food tasted great and the presentation was impeccable. There were lots of unique flavors and things I had never eaten before so it was a great experience to try new foods. My only complaint was that entrées were served around room temperature. If they were warmer, they would’ve been perfect. Portions on most items are small so you’ll need to order a few things if you’re hungry.

This place just received some Michelin star accolades, and I was pleasured to see why. I dined solo at bar and came without reservation immediately upon opening. No issues with accommodations, even though bar was filled shortly after. Every staff member was well-trained and proud of their venue. Being someone who dines in similar Michelin star restaurants, the customer service is on par with most. Power even went out sporadically during service and there was zero panic, and no beats were skipped. As much as I craved their tasting menu, it wasn't written in the stars. I just had a few appetizers with recommended WBTG paired with. The bartender assisted with spot-on navigation. The food items were soulfully presented and as well textured as flavorfully balanced. I had the yellowtail belly and fresh broccoli (separate items). Admittedly, not a fan of tablet wine list, but this one was easy to navigate. Although I had excellent wine with each course, would have like to see larger selection of wine glass selections. Wine vessels are perfect. Experiences like this is reflected from excellence at the top and trickles down. I'll be back with wife (if I can get in). Well done to the team.

Food was so good with most of it tasting amazing, I just wasn’t a fan of the chicken. The service was great and helpful.

We love coming here when we're in St. Helena. This last time was for NYE and they had a special menu. Favorite dish is always the truffle risotto. This place is most definitely a somm's dream. The place is littered with somms. I'm pretty sure there's more of them than there are actual wait staff. The wine cellar is always fun to visit, definitely check it out if you haven't yet.
