We stopped here for lunch on our way out of Springfield. We had heard this place's claim to fame is that they originated the corn dog. So naturally we had to try it out on our Route 66 road trip. The corn dog wasn't that great...I think a lot of a corn dog hinges on the dog. And this one was bland and mushy. Nothing with a good beefy flavor or snap. The breading was bland as well. The fries were both soggy and burnt, leading me to believe the oil was too hot? I think this place is great for a photo op but I wouldn't make it a destination to eat.

That has to be one of the best corn dogs I ever had. The food and the service was a 5 star. I hope to go there again this summer we loved it ♥️

This place not only had the best food but a great clean place! So much history here as well! The area corn dogs originated from! But trust me these are not corn dogs there better!..

Excellent representation of the route 66 nostalgia must are seeking. I want to say, I am not a big corn dog fan, so i want thrilled to come, BUT Cozy dog has changed all that!
Crispy, crunchy thin layer and boy was it delicious! 😋
Plus, how can you not fall in love with the decor! Pepsi can airplanes, route 66 decor and it definitely gives you that Midwestern cozy feeling inside and when your eating that yummy corn dog!
So glad we stopped and added one more place to the list of must try places.... and you will thank me for it too!

I love this place, it’s quirky and fun.
I had a chili dog and I didn’t understand the “chili”. It just seemed like cooked ground beef. It was dry (was I supposed to add ketchup?).
I wish I had their homemade bottled cozy dog root beer. It looked really good.
Everything else seemed great, I just wouldn’t order the chili dog.

We had seen multiple television programs highlighting this location as a historic, fun and good eatery along world famous route 66. Hosts of the program had mentioned how tasty the corn dogs were; which they are well known for. Upon arrival to the restaurant the inside has nostalgia all over the walls. The pictures and 66 memorabilia will give you a trip down route 66 memories. That's the good news. That's why this rating is two stars instead of one. After ordering corn dogs and a cheeseburger we sat down to bite into our food expecting a satisfying meal. That is not what happened. The corn dogs had minimal flavor and the cheeseburger had an odd flavor, very dry and a texture that I will describe as fibery (not sure that is a word). The food is not recommended, unless you live for the flavor of ketchup and toppings because that's all you will really taste. One other note, the staff at the front were in their teens, which is fine and expected. However, one word and one syllable answers seem to be the communication of choice. I don't think many of them want to be there. Take pictures outside and then move on to a restaurant you trust.

I love just knowing this place exists. I am not a huge fan of the food. It is ok. That is not why I came here. I came because it is an institution. Glad I came. Probably won’t be back but that’s ok! You should go if you haven’t. If you love corn dogs (or cozy dogs as they call it) then this may be your Mecca!
