Celebrated a belated Birthday here tonight, first time dining here for me. After reading reviews on TripAdvisor, I called to make a reservation and was asked is this a special occasion and we were delighted to see the chalkboard out front welcoming Peter on his special day! Nice touch! The atmosphere is charming and not unlike an English Inn. Hannah was our server and did a magnificent job - a properly trained server adds so much to fine dining - well done! We all ordered beef entrees and all were positively perfect! This is the best restaurant in Ottawa County. As a longtime member of the industry and a chef myself, hats off to Arboreal! Can’t wait to return!

A truly fine dining experience. We love the ambience, and the food is excellent. When we arrived and the hostess could not find our reservation, the owner immediately found us a table and we had great service. It has been a few years since we’ve dined here, but after a memorable Valentine’s Day dinner, we won’t wait so long before coming back!
Loved eating here!! We had a great meal, they cooked everything to perfection! The staff was nice and this lil place is a cute as can be! Really nice place to eat!! We will go back!
This was our first visit here in over 28 years. That means probably a couple of new owners over the years. The meal was 5 star. Great presentation of all items. Topped off with their signature Carrot Cake. It was nothing we'd ever had. The wait staff was superb. It was like a mother with eye's in the back of her head, always there a the perfect time.
This is one of the Lakeshore’s best kept secrets. We love the Arboreal. Never go wrong ordering the whitefish
We had dinner here last night and everything was amazing! Food and service was impeccable! Highly recommend!
Beautiful place! Excellent food! Great service!! I highly recommend going.
We have been customers for about 1 year. The new owners and Chef have recreated a masterpiece for dining. Have not had 1 bad meal there. Lovely and going this weekend again.

There were six of us celebrating my birthday on Saturday evening. The service was outstanding and the food was delicious. This is our go to restaurant when we want to enjoy a delicious meal.
Great food and service every time! I would highly recommend.
My husband and I had dinner here for the first time recently. We didn't have reservations, but we did show up at 5:00 when they opened and they had a high top table available in the bar. We mentioned that it was my husband's birthday and they brought out a free birthday dessert, which was really nice. Their wine selection is great, however, they don't offer too many wines that you can purchase by the glass. My husband had the Delmonico steak special (not always on the menu) with a cheese type sauce and au gratin potatoes that was perfectly prepared. I had the champagne chicken that was cooked to perfection! Their cocktails are made well and they offer bread with butter before the meal. The ambiance was nice, not modern, but old style elegant. We highly recommend it!
I'm only 2 years later with my review..better late than never haha
It was my anniversary, our name was on the front board as we walked in. Our server was so friendly and knowledgeable about the wines and foods. Our meals were just incredibly delicious! We haven't been able to make it back again yet, but we most definitely will!
It's formal but yet casual if you like. I know I wore jeans and a nice blouse and my husband had jeans and a button up on, but there were guests with nice evening dresses and suits as well.
Came in September 1st to celebrate the wifes birthday after hearing great things from coworkers about The Arboreal Inn and this was one of the best experiences we've had in dining. Everything from server, drinks, food quality, taste, presentation was top notch and on par. Wife had calamari appetizer, beer cheese soup, delmonico steak with fingerling potatoes and asparagus and the key lime pie. I ordered the southern shrimp appetizer,
lobster bisque, parmesan crusted Halibut with au gratin potatoes and asparagus and Crème brûlée desert. The owner also made rounds to check on the guest as well which was great, he's a very friendly face that makes you feel even more welcome. I really can't stress enough how great the server was also, it enhanced the experience sevenfold. I'm exited to come back soon, this is going to become one of our go to places in west michigan.
Update 8/31/23 I really can't stress enough how great everything is here still
The atmosphere here was lovely and the service was excellent! The lobster ravioli was not quite what I was expecting, the lobster ravioli filling tastes a bit more like a fish-lobster blend than strictly lobster, but the lobster chunks in the sauce were good. The whitefish dip was good. The halibut was good for Michigan, but not quite as good as I have had in seafood restaurants in other states. As far as fine dining goes, this is one of the better restaurants in the Grand Haven area. The prices are a bit steep for the overall quality of the food, but the restaurant is out of the way and a nice place to go if you are looking for a romantic evening out.
My spouse and I just moved back to West Michigan after several years away, and decided to do a birthday dinner at the Arboreal Inn. Neither of us had been there. We had tenderloin tips as an appetizer that were prepared medium and were served at the right temperature and consistency and were absolutely delicious with the Gorgonzola sauce accompaniment. For our mains she had chicken and I had a full rack of ribs. Both were outstanding, and the au gratin potatoes served with them were equally great. Food wise -- if there was a weak spot, it would have been the vegetable medley -- it looked like something from a package, and was not up to the quality of the rest of the meal. That said, the wine and dessert was fabulous.
Our server, Heather, really made our evening and provided impeccable service. We are looking forward to going back at some point in the future, and trying the seafood. All in, with tip, we paid $130. For us that seemed like a good value given the steak tip appetizer, big mains, alcohol, dessert, and tip. For comparable in Grand Rapids, we would expect to pay $200 and would be hard pressed to exceed the quality of the food we had at the Inn.
The one zonk I might give it is the ambience. It is an open room of tables in a mostly monotone colored room with wall sconce lighting that reminds me of the 1970s, and no background music or anything else. It looks nice, don't get me wrong, but it reminded me a bit of being at my father's country club growing up, and was stuffy. It also got a bit noisy with people talking rather loudly, and not much to break up the sound or voices. We listened to the guy next to us talk endlessly to his date about his admiration for the brilliance of Elon Musk.
We liked the Arboreal Inn overall, and would recommend you give it a shot if you want really good food, healthy portions, good service, and a night out in a setting that hearkens to a different era. It's all those, and a good value.
We had the Wagyu NY Strip and Lamb Rack. They were both delicious. The waitress was also very good and very friendly. The manager could be seen making sure people were doing well, including us, all dinner long. It's very comfortable and has a nice setting to it.
When there's a full house it gets very noisy and hard to hear your table mates. Waitress could have been more prompt to pick up dirty dishes and forgot to bring our bread.
My wife and I celebrated our wedding anniversary at The Arboreal Inn this past weekend. I had called to make a reservation a while back, but there was a mixup with the dates and we got put on the wrong weekend. Despite being incredibly busy, the manager was accommodating and made room for my wife and I. We were able to enjoy a fantastic dinner together when we very well could have gotten turned away due to having dates mixed up. The food was delicious and the service was fantastic!
A true fine dining experience! A must try!
Diverse menu, great wait staff, ambiance was fantastic. Special touch was the owner stopping at our table to chat. Highly recommend this hidden gem
I’ve had many special occasions here and they never let us down. Food is always delicious and cooked to perfection. Atmosphere is so relaxing. Highly recommend.
My wife and I were looking for something nice and special for our 34th Anniversary on Friday June 30 and Arboreal Inn hit it out of the ballpark! The atmosphere was pleasant and the food and drink and service were spectacular! Thank you Arboreal Inn and thank you to our waitress Brook for making our evening extra special!
Unique and special little place here. Don was a very welcoming owner and the Atmosphere was magical. The food, drinks, and desserts were very good and we will definitely be back next time we are in town
It's pricy but worth it. Good staff and Don the owner gave us the history. We started out with drinks and bruschetta appetizers. Then soup, lobster bisque for me and tomatoes basil for my wife. Main course pork chop with garlic mashed potatoes and shrimp scampi for my wife. We finished with a split of chocolate lava cake with ice cream on the side.
Came at 7:30pm on a Friday and was able to get a table immediately. Place was busy but service was very good. We both had the whitefish (they're noted for it) and it was very delicious and the soup was great and the augratin potatoes were delicious 😋. First time here, and we will be back. Good times.
The decor is charming and the staff are amazingly helpful. The menu had many delicious options😋. There were 8 in our party and we all agreed that the portions of the vegetable and potatoes were a bit skimpy for the amount you pay for the meal❣️
Spent my anniversary here last night. The food was excellent. The service was amazing. Everyone made us feel special. Definitely will be back.
We recently celebrated a birthday with friends at the Arboreal Inn, which was our first time eating there. It was very nice. The food was very good (king crab, steak and whitefish), the service was really good and the owner was present making sure everyone was taken care of. I would recommend it. The crowd was a bit older so we felt really young….. bonus! 😂
Great food. Service was a little slow, but we weren't in a hurry. Great break from chains.
