Delicious fried chicken. My standard for fried chicken in Indiana is offered by Nashville House in Nashville, In. This is just as good, or better. Mashed potatoes were also very good. Canned corn and green beans. Not so good. We loved our waitress who was very friendly, and efficient. I've visited this restaurant several times. Just wish the vegetables were better.

I worked here in the late 90's and ate there again after all these years. Though ownership has changed hands, the food, service, and setting is the same of not better. You'll get more did than you can eat. Their signature ribeye is outstanding and the fried chicken is terrific. You really can't go wrong. The setting is scenic and relaxing. This truly is a treasure of Owen County and a highlight of Spencer!

Took the family here for a nice meal as I'd heard good things. Steak was excellent and cooked to order, sides were fine. Fried chicken would have been excellent except there was a fishy taste to it, I suppose from the frier oil. It was still good enough we'll be back to try it again since if it didn't have the fishy taste it would have been the best fried chicken I've had a long time.
Service was good, we didn't have a reservation but we didn't have to wait super long either and the lobby is cozy enough that while you're waiting for your name to be called it's not uncomfortable.
The food was fantastic. You order your main dish like fried chicken, fried fish, prime rib, and much more then you get all you can eat sides like bread (outstanding), mashed potatoes with chicken gravy, green beans with bacon, corn, and salad. The service was good too. It's very clean and the ambience is really nice. I'll go back for sure.
The Hilltop is one of my favorite places to go. First, check their hours online because they are more limited than we are used to now a days. Secondly, make a reservation if you can because they get busy.
The food is served family style so the only thing that you are ordering is your entree. All meals come with mashed potatoes and gravy, a salad, green beans, corn, delicious homemade yeast rolls, carrots and celery, beets, and tomato juice! Everything is very well prepared and tastes like grandma made it. You are GOING to leave full. This does not even count their massive selection of desserts that include traditional favorites that are rarely found anymore such as persimmon pudding.
They also have an adorable little gift shop offering county style items and old time candy. Dress is casual.
This place is so awesome. All my years it's never changed. Service was great and the food is spectacular. Also the only place I know that serves persimmon pudding.
We went there for our anniversary. The food is all Homemade and very tasty. The service is always good. Very nice Place to go and especially nice place to take company. We enjoy it every time we go. And good prices 👍.
