Mexicali Mexican Grill

I was a little nervous after reading some of the more recent reviews about the food and portions going downhill, but that was far from our experience tonight after ordering take-out. I always get the Mexicali burrito with carnitas, and it was excellent, it was so big that I could only eat half tonight, and the presentation was on point, I wish I took a picture because it looked amazing!!! The best part was there was extra sour cream, guacamole, and salsa in the bag!! Super happy!!! My husband asked for extra chips which they happily delivered on. Oh, and it is worth mentioning that every one of the employees had their masks on! Great job, Staff!!

If you want fruit flys in your drinks, cold food and terrible service then this is the perfect place to be disappointed. Would be so much better if their employees actually cared about the people who bring them business. Hopefully management will turn things around sooner than later because this restaurant has so much unmet potential.

The wait staff was professional and attentive, food was good enough to almost lick my plate before my girlfriend reminded me we were in public. I was about finish this review before she had shown me the dessert menu (pictures included). Only complaint, If you sit out by the front windows during the winter months it can be a little chilly. See pictures of our entrees for the evening, enchiladas trio, the enchiladas rojas(not shown), and of course the apple cinnamon dessert burrito. We will be coming back 💚

We have recently moved to the area and for over 10 years went to a Mexicali in Webster so we were excited to be moving to Spencer and carrying on our tradition of margaritas and goodies. WELL that was short lived! We have tried to make it a go but after tonight we give up and will go some where else. The food I have to be honest is up and down and could be tolerated but the incredibly horrible rude hostess can not be overlooked. When we go in to pickup our orders for some reason we always get the most unpleasant blond young lady, who for the life of me after sitting and watching how she speaks to customers, I can not understand why she has not been fired. I can only surmise that she is management’s daughter and that is why she is allowed to work there. Tonight we were on the delivery end of her distasteful rude behavior. We had to call because when we got home part of our dinner was not in the bag. I called the restaurant and was greeted “yah hi” I had to ask is this Mexicali? “Yah” I politely said we came home and are missing an item from our order “ yah so what do you want” is rudely snapped at me. We would like to come back and get the item please, “ok” slam went the phone. When we came in there was a young pleasant girl with dark hair who I explained I called in and was picking up a missing item, which she presented to me. I also decided to inquire about my online request for additional flour tortillas and that young rude girl with the blond hair and all the rings in her face, who I dread seeing comes over and snaps at me “we don’t give that away for nothing” I politely ignored her rude behavior and asked the pleasant your lady if I could pay for the extra tortillas and did so. The rude one stormed into the kitchen came back a few minutes later and threw them on the counter…not handing them to me but threw them. My mother voice wanted to say what is wrong with you? If you hate your job so much, please for all of the customers sake go find another job! So it was then that we decided as much as we love Mexicali we will not pay good money to be verbally assaulted by some 20 something year old who clearly is not suitable to be in any customer service industry…..so moving on!

I have eaten here countless times over the years since they've opened. My favorite night to go though is on Taco Tuesday. They feature $1 tacos that day, your choice of chicken or beef. The food is always of the highest quality and fresh and the service is fast and friendly. It's nice to have a great restaurant like this in the area. Never have I had a bad meal here and I see myself returning many times in the future. I would highly recommend this place if you're in the area and looking for good Mexican food.
