A really good variety of different food items are served at this restaurant. The ingredients are fresh and always cooked nicely and served promptly and punctually at reasonable prices. Highly recommended.
A 'Go to' spot. One of my personal go to spots any day, closed Sunday BTW. Good solid variety of food. White fish great, prime rib on weekends usually great, very good steaks and great burgers and sandwiches. Oh ya, did I mention a great staff and good service. Daily dinner specials and fantastic soups in fall and winter months. Family owned and operated Dawson's on Main is now a Speedway institution.
The only good bar in Speedway. Dawsons is good, but other than the track, there's no reason to travel to Speedway. If you must go, stop by Dawsons. It's the only good bar in town.
Chicken Salad. I had a really huge chicken salad sandwich that was really tasty. The filling was 2 inches thick! The slaw was also very good and I enjoyed the slivers of cucumber.
Always great. awesome atmosphere, friendly staff, and great prices.
Good local place. Been here a couple of times, and although the service was pretty spotty the last time, this is a nice local place with a varied menu and well-prepared food.
New York Food in Indianaplis. The restaurant is simply decorated, understated, but comfortable. The waitstaff was attentive and friendly without being overly so. The first thing I said when I tasted by Salmon Oscar was "this tastes fancy." I've lived in NY for 30 years and have eaten in some of the fines restaurants there. The food at Dawsons is right up there. I was told they had a new chef last night when I dined, since this was my first time there, I had nothing to compare it to, however, the food was devine. The portion sizes are adequate, their unique twist on some everyday menu items was a welcome surprise. You absolutely must save room for their homemade carrot cake. I hate to sound like a cliche' but it was truly devine. I have never tasted carrot cake so fresh and scrumptous. Usually the cream cheese frosting makes the cake - not at Dawson's. The carrot cake had just enough frosting to hold it together because it was perfect.
Love the crab cakes!. Every time I go to Dawson's I get the crab cakes - they are AMAZING. But be prepared - the sauce is VERY spicy, so not for the faint of heart. I also love the Cobb salad and always order it with extra honey mustard dressing (which is to die for!) I have also noticed the "disdain" of the wait staff but the service is not horrible and the food makes up for it. I can't wait to go back to Dawson's.
Went there yesterday and it was very good food. I had ribs and shrimp and my fiance had the shrimp. Excellent food, good service and nice atmosphere. We eat out a lot probably more than we should and this place is definitely solid.
Weird place but good fish. So I visited here recently with my lady friend and overall we were pleased.
The service was fast but at times seemed to have more disdain than your typical wait staff. Also, the location was in the middle of a revitalizing speedway, which still needs some more work. This is just because we sat outside and it looked pretty rough at times not to mention for a up scale place i done think miller lite umbrellas in the best taste. I cannot speak for the inside of the restaurant because it was a nice day to be outside. However, with all these small problems we were blown away by the fish. The fish was very very good and more than made up for the weird vibes of the place.
ps. the famous ribs... not so good
Located within an eye shot of the Indianapolis speedway, Dawson's is truly ab excellent place to grab a meal. The service was great and the food far exceeded my expectation. The decor appears almost to be swanky but not overzealous. I had the oriental chicken salad and it was done to perfection. There sweet and savory sauce was on the side so you control the alottment and in turn the sodium and fat content. The chicken was good and the fseasame sticks added a decadent crunch. Every dish which passed my table looked delicious and given my meal, I'm convinced the other dishes would be just as good.
We went way out of our comfort zone to go to Speedway, Indiana , in May. We have talked about going here several times but usually road construction interfered. But it was really worth it. I have not been to Speedway in years and it is really a lovely community. Dawson’s sits on the corner of Main Street and some tree-lined picturesque street that to me has no name. I don’t recall. The joint was rocking at noon, but we were still able to get seats out of doors. The menu for lunch is rather large. Several appetizers, big salads, a dozen or more sandwiches and wraps and a few lunch entrées. One of the entrées was a breaded and fried Capensis. To non-fish groupies Capensis, also known as Cape Capensis; or poor man’s Orange Roughy is as delicious as it is hard to find. I have never seen it fried, but there is no reason why it can’t be, obviously. The fish came with french fries and coleslaw for $8.99. Since as we already know, Pat is a fried fresh freak that is what he ordered.I had to
Dawson's on Main is one of those great little surprises that pop up in my travels from time to time. I like it when the locals turn me on to little places that are just outstanding. And I thought the food, the service and the atmosphere at Dawson's on Main were all very, very good. I would put their breaded pork tenderloin against many of those I've had in Iowa and would probably beat a couple of the "Best in Iowa" pork sandwiches I've had over the past couple three years.
Excellent service provided by Jeremy! Very personable and knowledgeable of the menu. Food was great, prices fair. We dined on the patio. Great vibe especially in May. Interesting menu, something to please everyone. Across the street from IMS.
After visiting family in the hospital, we wanted to try something new for lunch. We wound up at Dawson in Speedway and what a great decision that was. The menu is unbelievable! We finally decided on chicken Parmesan for me and pot roast special and fries for hubby. Both were so very good. I got a slice of German chocolate cake to go and when I ate it later, I was amazed at the portion size….it was twice what you get elsewhere and oh so good! Our server Chad was the best…great personality! I would rate it at 10 out of 10.
The calamari steak was really good and seems to be pretty unique to this area. Their cocktail sauce was pretty good if a little mileld. The ribeye was pretty decent and the carrot cake was very tasty.
Visited 2/12/22
This place was cold, bring a coat if visiting during the cold months.
Food was good, wife didn’t care for it much.
It was good…
Still an excellent place for Dinner or drinks. We have been to Dawson's several times.
Nice bar, very good bartender who on this night was our Server. Like so many restaurants help is very hard to find.
Dawson's has a large menu, something for everyone on their menu.
Tonight we had the Fried Shrimp and the Beef Stroganoff. Both were very good and plenty of food is given.
Their Meatloaf is pretty good as well.
Went here a few weeks back on a mommy&son day with my 11 month old and we had a great experience. I had a perfect spot to park my stroller behind my seat and a high chair for my boy. Food was amazing and the waitresses loved interacting and entertaining my son whenever they walked on by. (He was being a big flirt lol) Which helped me enjoy my food greatly since he was distracted. I ordered the salmon dinner and calamari appetizer. It was so delicious! I couldn't finish it all so I had to take it to go and order more rice since it was so good.
Food was so good that I forgot to take a photo of it. But got some of my son eating his snacks while we waiting on the food.
Will definently come again with the rest of the family.
Hey, it was Tenderloin Tuesday and my cousin and Aunt we're wanting to go eat so I suggested Dawson's! I've been there before and so had they, but it had been a while! We all ordered tenderloins & fries, also an order of broccoli! Well, we weren't surprised, they were just as good this time as the last! Service was excellent and the ice tea was good! The restaurant was clean and was 75% full! That includes the outside dining, not bad for a Tuesday around 7:30pm! Before I go, the bathroom was also clean and well stocked! Enjoy, I know I'll be back, hopefully sooner than last time!
