We really enjoyed this restaurant! The food was phenomenal and the staff were all so helpful. I highly recommend San Felipe Mexican Restaurant to anyone heading to South Port NC. I had the Arroz Con Camarrones which was grilled shrimp and zucchini on a bed of rice with queso sauce. Yum! Jay had Steak and Shrimp Fajita. Very, very good!
Stopped in last night. Excellent & Speedy service. Clean, friendly with the absolute best meal I've ever had. My new favorite place to eat.

I have been going here with family for years. Went there Sunday night for the first time since September. Never have I been so disappointed! Waiter was rude. Menu has changed a lot in recent years and now for the worst. What happened to combo dinners? Salsa was awful and my dish (which I have ordered for years) was mediocre at best. Had to beg for water! Such a disappointment! The bill for two was $35 including tip (which the waiter didn't deserve). When did this place become expensive Mexican?
Just great Mexican cuisine. I like their special combo platter. It has an assortment of items and each one is great. Atmosphere is fitting and always courteous waiters make it a pleasure to visit.
We love go every time we come! Great food and service, even with a crowd they get you in and served quickly.

Great Mexican food. The food is always fresh hot when served. Everything is cooked just right. Very tasty food. The restaurant is always busy at supper time. But i have never waited more than 15 minutes with a party of 10. The wait staff attends to your needs and responds quickly. I rarely ask for a refill on my drink or more chips. My family and I attend each year when we come to Oak Island for vacation. When we went there last year they had a Mexican band playing. That was a lot of fun. The restaurant itself is clean, nicely decorated with clean bathrooms. I highly recommend this restaurant if you're looking for a great Mexican restaurant.

Restaurant Review for San Felipe Restaurante Mexicano By OI Cuisine Commando. When to visit: Lunch and dinner seven days a week.
Type of Food: Mexican
Ambiance: Dark wooded southwest with a touch of the beach so Corona, Dos Equus, and Margaritas spoken here. The separate lunch menu can get you in and out quickly. Drink and food specials come daily and are usually displayed on a banner outside the building. This is one of several restaurants of the same name in North Carolina. As such, they have the standard Mexican fare of tacos, burritos, chimichangas and tamales. Most Americans would like the offerings as they lean toward the lightly spiced. I prefer more seasoning so ask for a bottle of hot sauce. Kids alternatives are scaled down Mexican options of taco and burrito, a Quesadilla with fries, and chicken nuggets.
Difference Dividend: Mexican is a nice break from beach fare, though technically San Felipe is in Southport and not Oak Island. It is on Long Beach Road. There is no Mexican restaurant currently on Oak Island.
Service: Lots of amigos on staff though my service was not as quick as the others in a restaurant.
Vegetarian value: They have a whole section of vegetarian combos on the menu which is a nice change from places that only offer vegetable side dishes. A section of seafood on the menu offers other meat alternatives.
Also try: The Huevos con Chorizo is a nice alternative for time other than breakfast, especially as I like the spicy pork sausage. Their seafood dip with shrimp, scallops, and melted cheese offers a nice starter for dinner.
Pay: On your way out.
Always check for business hours as many places close for the winter, close for a couple hours in the PM, or can't be found when the fish are biting.
Seriously the best Mexican food I have ever had and I love Mexican!! The chipotle chicken is really good and spicy and can be requested in lieu of the regular chicken if you want to spice things up. They will also add grilled jalapeños to the fajitas if you really like it spicy. Food came out super fast and was amazing!! Fajita taco salad was yummy and they make their own taco shells. Drinks were good and reasonably priced. Great friendly service!! I love this place!! Perfect score!!
Average Mexican food but the staff are always nice and we've never had to wait long for a table, our food, or anything else.
Perfectly Delicious!. There are only a few decent restaurants IN Southport and this is by far one of their best! The service is always prompt, courteous, and diligent, and the food is always fresh, delicious and hot and FAST..you can not find food faster in this area and it is really a great AUTHENTIC MEXICAN RESTAURANT! If you want hot, ask for it and you will get it, no one does it like San Felipe! No One! FAVORITE!
2018, Still the one place you can get Fast food that is Hot, Fresh and perfectly done! Margarita specials twice a week, and a Mariachi Band on Tuesday nights make this a Hot Spot in Southport.
The food was pretty good. It's an average San Felipe. The waitstaff were very friendly. It's clean and the service was fast.
Not gonna lie, we eat at San Felipe at home all the time. But this in southport was so much better. Different food items and drinks. Kids loved it as always and apparently they had mild and hot salsa. It was a great experience at one of our favorites.

Enjoyable place to eat, we received super fast service. Tasty fajitas combo of steak, chicken, and shrimp for two. Note the dish was almost like stir fried style preparation - thin pieces of steak, rather than strips of steak you might find elsewhere and how we make it at home. Thus the steak was cooked more than my normal preference for medium rare. On the positive side, the smaller pieces were more evenly distributed in every bite, rather than a strip that might pull out of the tortilla. Shrimp were whole small bay shrimp. When we make shrimp fajitas at home , we use larger shrimp lightly fried to give the shrimp a slight crunch. Lots of protein to less peppers and onions. So it was different than what we make at home, but very tasty. As we got to the bottom of the sizzling cast iron serving dish, a couple of tortillas were used to scrape the dish to get the last bits of the tasty sauce. Side plate of refried beans and rice were tasty. We asked for an additional serving of tortillas and still had fajitas stuffing to take home. We will return.
Best Mexican food I've had in awhile! 10 out of 10 and it's affordable. Here you get what you pay for and more. Flavor where explosive. We bought a little of everything...$100 order for two but was well worth it. When we come back this will be one of our 1st stops.

Family Mexican restaurant. Nothing fancy but good food, great service and a lively atmosphere. The waitstaff is friendly and attentive. The guacamole is fresh and tasty. The salsa and chips were bottomless and fresh. The San Felipe fajitas were excellent. There was sooo much meat! I tried the corn and it was cooked nicely and seasoned well. Both flour and corn tortillas were very good. I also tried the Pollo con crema. Again, portions were huge and the sauce was very good. Drinks are strong and well prepared. We will be returning!!!!
Fastest place to eat in Southport. Seriously. Faster than any of the drive thrus, better food, same price. I can honestly say I eat here 3 times a week because I know I can get back to work in 30 minutes.

Great little nook on a strip mall. The service was super fast and I thought it was original that you receive your own bottle of salsa to add as needed. Food came out very quick and was flavorful.

Food is on point and so was the service. Chips and salsa are solid. For a family Mexican style restaurant it was very much enjoyed. I had the Texas fajitas (chicken, steak, and shrimp) for two and the portions was plentiful. The flour tortillas were good. The blue ocean margarita was refreshing and not overt juicy, you could taste the tequila. Go here with family, friends, or both.
Out of town for a quick weekend get away and decided to try this place out. Excellent food and service and you definitely get your money's worth.

For someone who was tired, hungry and so ready to eat a stress free meal, this place did it all. The service was great, the food was good, and it was a relaxing environment. The food could have been a little warmer when it brought out, but the flavor made the experience perfect.
