Excellent food, We had the sauteed Captains platter & added 2 smoked oysters they were very large & awesome, They could use better cut of fries, The ones we got were small thin cut & they overcook real easy. Just ask for fresh fries or pass on them. Service was great and a good homey feel.

We just happened to be hungry and driving through the city and we decided to pull over and try this place out.
So glad we did! The food was so good and hit the spot. There might be a bit of a wait, but you won't be disappointed.

On our way to Montana we stopped here because we saw the mountain of oyster shells by the BBQ. I watched as he BBQ'd the oysters, unbelievable the way he prepped them. My only regret was that we only ordered 12. By far the best oyster experience I've ever had, that includes Tomales bay, Half-moon bay, SF, Eureka, and Monterey.

OMG! Everyone should make sure to drive through South Bend and stop here even if it's somewhat on your way. Best oysters I've ever had. You can tell they were super fresh too. Which the owner also mentioned. Had pan fried, 'on the grill with everything' and sauteed oysters. Wow wow wow. The owner also smokes ribs, but it was too early in the day. He said those would be no earlier than 3:30pm.

Wife loved the oysters and the Inlaws had bbq oysters and said there absolutely amazing and it's super cool to watch everything made the way your grandma and grandpa would at home, everything about this business is absolutely stunning and everything is fresh daily

Owner is an interesting character who takes pride in what he does, cook food from scratch. Honest about what he has and does and makes no excuses or apologies. We were looking for a local joint on our epic road trip and decided to stop here and we weren't disappointed with the authentic local feel of the place. No chain restaurant stuff here, everything is made from scratch. The food was OK for the most part with the exception of the grilled oysters which were fantastic. If I could give it 3.5 stars I would.

We happened upon River View driving from Long Beach with 3 adults & 4 kids. We had a delicious dinner and the best grilled oysters we've ever had! We had the homemade clam chowder and a Captains platter that were all gobbled up. Highly recommended!
