Review Ichiban Golden Dragon - South Bend

The presentation of the food is beautiful but every time I order, I checked the bag and part of my order is missing. I called to inform them of missing items in my first order and they told me that I would get those items with my next order. So, I ordered again(second time ever ordering) and mentioned that I’d like them to add the missing items from my first order. The guy on the phone said that they don’t replace missing items from previous orders! Sad and pathetic because this place actually has delicious food and beautiful presentation. I guess it’s true, “Everything that glitters ain’t gold”…….

I want to give them a higher rating but when you’re paying $45 for two poke bowls and an appetizer for takeout you would expect a more seamless takeout process. There’s a drive thru line and then inside an unorganized set up of writing down your order number and then sitting around while you wait with other delivery drivers for your name to be called. There is no one to greet you and you’re forced to wait for them to grab the notepad to be able to get their attention and check on your order. And I while I’m trying to be mindful of how restaurants have been hit hard with staffing issues since the pandemic started it’s going to be hard to consider this place again unless they offer better customer service.

Ordered on Uber Eats. Best mei fun I've had in a long time. Pork dumplings good. Shrimp dumplings my daughter and I didn't care for. Overall good. Would order again if in the area

Have eaten here twice since moving to the area recently, and my husband and I absolutely LOVE it!! The prices are not cheap, but the food is more than worth it. Both times we have gotten sushi for takeout, and it has been absolutely fantastic. The drive thru pick up window is very convenient as well, and they prepared our orders very quickly. The sweet tea is delicious as well. We will definitely be continuing to get our sushi here and maybe try some of the hot cuisine as well! After reading other reviews on here, we have come to the conclusion that if you are nice to people they will be nice back. I worked as a waitress somewhere years ago and people do think they can be very rude to the staff and expect you to just have to take it. So yes I still after reading plan on continuing to visit because for us it's been fantastic 👌

We ordered thru GrubHub and we will never order from here again!!!! 🤮 I ordered the sweet and sour chicken and was given orange chicken with no sauce. My roommate ordered the teriyaki chicken and it was soggy and nasty. Every other Chinese restaurant I've been to puts your chicken over brown rice... We got absolutely NO rice. Just soggy chicken with a few veggies thrown in. Worst meal I've ever had!!!

I can’t speak for everything on the menu, but I pick up the Poke Bowls from here regularly using the drive thru and I am always happy with what is provided. The fish and other ingredients in the poke bowls are always fresh and delicious. They’re a bit on the pricey side, and not quite as good as the (cheaper) Poke Bowls from Star Ginger at Notre Dame, but still great nonetheless. I’d recommend trying out the bowls at Ichiban at least once and see if you like them.

If you are looking a amazing chinese food in South Bend this is the best place. All meats are delicious, the pork fried rice is the best, there is a lot of meat in the rice and the pork egg rolls are super delicious.

I found plastic cooked into my General Tso Chicken. I actually bit into a piece of chicken where there was hard cooked plastic baked into it; in person you can see a cut off of a logo that was green white and red and the backside was hard and black, clearly chicken wasn't made fresh or just wasn't checked before sending off to a paying customer. When the sweet delivery person returned, he was told to argue with me that it was an onion.. like I don't know what a cooked onion looks and tastes like. When I opened the breading caked around the plastic (revealing more of the logo and black color, he finally agreed that it was indeed plastic. When spoken to the manager I politely asked for a refund and was told they will not serve me or my co workers any longer. Manager or owner is always rude and thinks complaints are not legitimate, not wanting to fix what was wrong to make things right. This is a follow up to the owner's response - I was never rude, cussing, or angry when I called and requested a refund. You must have me mixed up with someone else. Because I requested a refund, the owner was very impolite instead of trying to fix things. Your response to my review is the typical response about issues from this restaurant even though I've been a customer for 4 years. Scallops, unions, or bones do not look like what was in my food.. I would know. The inside of the plastic was black and I never mentioned that your logo was green. The logo inside of my chicken was green.

Love their sushi! I recommend the South Bend Roll and Twisted cake. So nice to have a place where I can get sushi and my kids can get sweet and sour chicken. And they have a drive thru😀

On the fence with this one.....ordered the PoPo Platter and a small shrimp fried rice for delivery. The beef skewers weren't bad but the chicken skewers were breaded and the chicken was a weird color and very dry. Cheese sticks and wings were ok but the fried scallops were terrible. The egg rolls, which I was really looking forward too were not very good. Way too many vegetables and very little shrimp or pork. I liked the fried rice but you were really skimpy on the shrimp. I had a 1/3 of the container left and the shrimp were gone. All in all not worth the $21 I paid which was disappointing, because the food was much better a year ago when I ate at the restaurant.

Ordered online and was ready when we got there. First Chinese place we have eaten at in the area to actually take our spicy request seriously. The food was hot (spicy) and flavorful. Will definitely try again and could be 5 stars if the food is constantly good.

I have eaten sushi all over, from Vegas to Orlando to Detroit, Chicago, etc. This place is hands down the best I have had. Service was unbelievably great and the sushi chef was unreal - the rolls/sashimi not only tasted great but were real works of art. If you are within a couple hours of South Bend this place is worth the drive, period.

I live over an hour away, and would make the drive just to eat here. The Red Snapper sushi and warm Sake are delicious!! The meal times, portions, and prices are very reasonable. The waitress was knowledgeable and friendly. As the 2015 Rose Award Recipient, I highly recommend the Ichiban Golden Dragon!
