Totally worth the wait even during the busy times! Strawberry mimosas are amazing and the Ultimate Bloody Mary! Chicken and waffles are SO good and the service is always excellent!

We had to wait for 30 minutes for a table, which is usually take as a good sign. But, I feel like our food was rushed. The service was good, however and they do offer hot coffee and iced water complimentary while you wait, and I thought that was a really charming touch.

Decent breakfast spot with a bright, colorful staff and ambiance while maintaining a homey feel. The food was great! I was a bit sad that the chicken in the chicken and waffles was more of a premade patty. But the syrup was delicious. The tacos had a great flavor and were a decent portion. A bit difficult to eat as a single tortilla falls apart so easily. There was a variety of seating areas and service was quick. There was a decent line ahead of us, so I’d recommend calling ahead.

Have heard about this place since I moved to South Bend. Almost never am I downtown when they are open. Today I wanted breakfast somewhere different. So I went to Peggs. They did not disappoint. I got the breakfast tacos with hashbrown with bacon and cheese. Delicious! Everyone was cheerful and I could not help but smile. If you find yourself in downtown South Bend for lunch or breakfast, do yourself a favor and goto Peggs!

Today was my first time visiting in years. The last time my family and I dined here, they were called “Le Peeps”. It’s still run by the same person/company.
I will say my rating is biased because of the negative experience I last had at this establishment.
My previous visit, my party of three was told there was a 10-15 wait. We were fine with it and sat down in the waiting area. Not even two minutes passed and a party of two walked in and were promptly seated at a table meant for 4. I walked up to the host and asked why they were seated before my party and I was answered, “Oh, it’s because there’s only two of them and you’re three.” I retorted with, “Why would that matter? You still sat them at a table meant for four. Weren’t you going to seat us at a similar table?” That’s when he and another employee looked at the seating chart with a confused look on their faces. That’s when I instructed my family to leave.
We were stopped outside by a blonde haired lady (presumably the owner) and was told she could seat us right away. There was no apology for the mix up. We decided to go back inside to eat since we were already hungry.
Again, today was our first visit back.
I’m afraid the last previous experience we had with this restaurant will forever filter any present or future experience we may have with them.
The food was ok. The service was ok.

Decided to check Peggs out based on recommendations of a few friends. It did not disappoint. The California Benedict was very good. The sauce tasted great, the eggs were perfectly cooked and the avocado/bacon complimented this dish well. My wife ordered a build your own omelet and loved it. Combine the menu with unique weekly specials and are many great options to choose from. This is a terrific place for breakfast in downtown South Bend. I look forward to returning to try some of their other dishes and specials. The only thing keeping this from 5 stars was a bit of a long wait for a hot drink. Other than that highly recommend. We will back again!

Not great...
I waited for a outside table and was seated within 10 minutes. I ordered immediately and unfortunately it took 30 minutes for my food to arrive. They were very polite and apologetic for the delay, but it was a Thursday around 100 so it wasn’t a busy time. Once my meal arrived I was very disappointed. The avocado toast was burnt! Nice staff but lacking in quality and efficiency.
