Water Wheel Saloon

I don't eat pizza often, so when I do, it HAS to be awesome! The Reuben pizza(sub in garlic sauce) is crazy good!!! We have had this pie numerous times and never had a bad one. The bread sticks are cheesy goodness and they will give you lots of marinara for dipping. There are picnic tables outside for when the weather is nice and games to play at your table while you wait. Our family LOVES this place :)!

We come to the Columbia/Sonora area about 4 times a year and have been wanting to stop by the Waterwheel for pizza for at least the last 12 years, we finally made it there last night. The staff was extremely friendly and the pizza was delicious! We ordered a medium combination and a small order of cheesy bread sticks both came out hot and yummy!! We are looking forward to going back and trying their Ruben pizza. Price was very reasonable for dinner last night and lunch plus a snack for today.

Ordered online and was told it would be 30 minutes. I arrived early with about 5 minutes left. Pizza was done and sitting away from anything to keep it warm. He charged me for a medium instead of a large because it was slightly smaller than a large. (which was the only cool thing to happen) I paid and left and once I got home which was about 2 minutes away from the waterwheel started eating. They got my order wrong as I did not order white sauce on the entire pizza. I had to microwave it because it was cold like leftover pizza from the fridge. So deciding to take it back the man that made it and gave it to me told me that it was my fault it was cold as I didn't come to get it on time and that he made the order as it was written down. I did get my money back but only after a very rude and cold encounter. They didn't even offer a replacement. Definitely lost a customer as I will not be treated that way when all I asked for was a pizza to enjoy with my lady.

This may be the best pizza parlor in the Sonora area! The red sauce and especially the crust are both fantastic. It's more of a take out rather than an eat in place, but there are a few tables and a pool table, too. The Water Wheel Saloon is in a separate building with a large outdoor patio behind the pizza restaurant. We haven't tried it yet but it looks like a nice local place for a beer or two on a warm summer day.

We are interested in beers on tap. No dark beers here but I found Belching Beaver to be good. Mate liked 3 Weavers (or something like that). Ordered wings which were battered like moms fried chicken. Had to add sauce. Good price for 12 but not crazy about the batter. We will return because bar tender was personable and friendly as were some of the regulars. We hope they have some dark beer on our return.

Cool place covered in memorabilia, posters, and stuff to stare at while your drink you sorrows away alone. Each Wednesday, there is a real hidden gem of a jam session, more like an open mic for anyone to join in a band. No set list, not even full songs. Just step in and starting playing with the beat du jour. Beer is pretty good, some good ones and also your $2 PBR. I haven't had the pizza but I did watch than make one and it looked pretty darn good. Restaurant on the side is clean and looks like a nice place to have a bite. But the bar.... The bar is a weird, fun place to be.
