Shige Sushi

Great sushi option! A lot of their rolls seem to have fried components, and we love the Godzilla roll. Excellent salmon sushi, and the sashimi salad was delicious as well. Every piece here has been delicious! I wish there was a little more seating space, but at least less people inside generally means fast service.

A charging sushi restaurant with excellent sashimi and rolls. I came here on a Thursday night, looking for a quick bite with a couple friends. Shige showed up as a good option and I wasn't disappointed. We had the large plate of sashimi which included the chefs special fish for the day along with some rolls including the chefs surprise. Everything was excellent, and the short sake list had some fabulous options. When in Sonoma looking for a low key, but very good sushi restaurant, I will eat here every time.

I’m pleased to say, I don’t have to go into the City to experience an authentic taste of Japan. I had the Bento box lunch plate, with Karaage Chicken, not teriyaki! I wanted to try something new. Karaage is something I have never had before. The portion was generous and the chicken was juicy and tender with a spice and flavor that to me was unique. The description on the menu said “spicy” but it’s not hot, more of a gentle tangy taste. But not sweet! Very flavorful with a delicious dipping sauce on the side. Excellent service and a pleasant atmosphere. A nice selection of wines, beers and sake. I forgot to order Miso soup and California roll. I liked the house made cheese cake. Yet, I was disappointed that it wasn’t made with Anko or green tea ice cream or maybe even Japanese persimmon. Next time I visit I will try the beef Teriyaki and maybe some Udon.

What a nice little surprise on our trip to sonoma to stumble upon this gem of a restaurant! The fish is fresh and high quality, the tempura and chicken udon were crispy and my kids gobbled it up. My sukiyaki hit the spot on a chilly evening. My husband’s nigiri omakase was fresh and delicious. The entire family had a great meal, we definitely plan to come again!

I come from San Jose with my wife. We have been trying to have dinner in Shige for two times. (11-25&11-26) The first night I just checked the outdoor and didn’t read the announcement outside the restaurant. The second night we came again and I saw the announcement. Even we haven’t had chance eat in Shige, I still have a good feeling of this restaurant. Happy birthday Shige.
