City Slicker Cafe

I have to start by saying I usually do not leave bad reviews for any business or anyone; I do not hold grudges. However, my experience at City Slicker today was not good. Their food is spot on A1 always, in my opinion. It is the customer service I have an issue with today. I ordered lunch online for pick up. I took my time getting there to be on the safe side. When I get there, the doors are locked, and I can see an entire staff of people in there. I look at the business hours, and sure enough, they are supposed to be open. I knock on the door, and no one acknowledges me. Their chef walks by as I knock, makes eye contact, and openly ignores me. At this point, I'm like, WTH?! I go to call the restaurant to cancel the order altogether, and that is when they come and open the door. I asked them what that was all about, and one staffer said, " I didn't see you" then everyone started to chime in that they did not see me, and then they began to say, " we were busy!" When they said they did not see me, I responded by saying I made eye contact with the chef. At this point, 2-3 of the staffers and I are going back and forth, which is crazy. Communication is a big deal. All-City Slicker's staff had to tell me is to wait a minute, and I would have waited, no problem; instead, you would rather stand there and argue with a paying customer that enjoys your food!

This place used to be my favorite. I moved away from Somerville 6 months ago, but used to regularly order the sweet potato melt. It was always delicious, perfectly cooked, and on some type of focaccia or ciabatta bread. I was in the area today, and decided to swing by for that melt, and was very disappointed. Prices went up, and the quality went down. The prior tasty focaccia / ciabatta has been replaced with flavorless, dry french bread. The sweet potatoes were undercooked and crunchy. A little disappointed with the experience I had.
