Really nice place to eat. The octopus starter was good but the burrata crostini was a bit smoky. The gnocchi was very good and we liked the actual pasta a lot, the sauce on the pasta course was good but not great. Our favorite part of the meal was the entrees. The bass was excellent and was served over an awesome pea salad dish. The steak was also fabulous and came with these amazing fried potato gratin cube things, they were really awesome. We got two desserts, blackberry panna Cotta was not good. The actual panna cotta was bland and completely overwhelmed by a champagne topping. The white chocolate semifredo with strawberry gelato was incredible!!!! One of the best desserts I’ve had in a long time.
Really great service and all around really nice experience.

What an absolute neighborhood gem. Wonderful space/ambience. Staff is over the top with courtesy and knowledge. Food was timed perfectly despite being there on a Saturday at peak time. The kitchen had it all under control and the servers made sure everything got where it was going on time. Speaking of the food...WOW....such a unique menu and very blatantly designed by a chef with years of education and experience. Each dish was a combination of opposing flavors which came together to create a perfect harmony. You don't create these type of dishes by chance...there is some serious skill in the kitchen at Fat Hen. Wine list was superb, signature cocktails looked amazing but the wine list honestly spoke to clearly to my heart that I had to opt for a paired four course dinner. I was not disappointed. Rib eye and the scallop crudo stood out, but it was all simply decadent. 10/10 will be back.

The food at Fat Hen is delicious, well-balanced and offers a great variety. It's also paired with exceptional service and attention to detail. Having said that I would not call this an Italian restaurant. I came wanting to try the gnocchi and ended up going with the chef's whim 6 course tasting menu, but requested the gnocchi as one of the courses. Having the chef deliver and describe each of his creations shows his passion for the food.
The meal started with smoked bluefish which was delicate and presented perfectly. The next course was hamachi crudo which was my second favorite with a balanced sweetness from Meyer lemons and a surprise with the inclusion of chili oil. This was followed by foie gras which was a little salty until mixed with the quince and cocoa. The potato gnocchi was my favorite and worth waiting for. This dish was a contrast in textures and deep flavors. The rainbow trout was tender with a crispy skin and as much as I like bacon, it felt unnecessary. I was excited to try the NY strip steak which was cooked sous vide and then seared. While it was cooked well, it was missing the deep sear I prefer in a steak. The meal was completed with baked doughnuts which were delicious.
It feels like the restaurant and chef are using different influences and techniques to showcase their food, but are still trying to find a true identity. They have a small, cozy interior except for the large plate glass on one wall where the fluorescent street lights shine through.
Overall it was a very good experience and I look forward to returning and experiencing more of their ever changing menu.

We had an AMAZING dinner here. Definitely recommend doing the chefs choice. Every single dish was explained to us by the chef who obviously put a lot of time and thought into the dishes. We both agreed that this was one of the best meals we've probably ever had. Certainly will be coming back.

Small cute restaurant with a short but delicious dinner. The tortellini in brodo was to die for! Good service too!

The wife suggested it, and Prix fixe with wine pairing did not disappoint.

What a little gem. Tucked as a little sidekick of La Brasa, I walked past the place a couple of times and had to call them to find the entrance. So glad I sought this restaurant out. Ten tables arranged intimately in two rows and an unpretentious atmosphere plus a couple of friendly and super prompt servers set you up for some culinary greatness.
The first word that came to my mind when I took the first spoon of their chilled corn soup was "Wow!" and that was what I said to the server that asked me how the soup was. Next, the delicious bucatini was served complete with an egg yolk in the middle.
Then came the lobster with gnocchi. Served with romaine lettuce and pancetta, it had the perfect balance of crunchy and soft texture all on one plate, or should I say bowl.
Not a lot of creative choices for dessert, but the italian crepe was tasty enough to close the meal on a good note.
The prices of the a la carte dishes are reasonable individually, but may run up a bit if you are planning to go for the appetizer, pasta course and main course. However, they offer a great deal in their 4-course "degustazione" for $45. This is not a tasting menu in the traditional sense, but merely a prix fixe meal of the a la carte dishes.
Overheard another customer remark "Amazing!" as he headed out the door. I agree. I should have known though, since this is a brainchild of Daniel Bojorquez who used to work for Frank McClellan at L'espalier and the now closed Sel de la Terre, two of my favorite restaurants in the area.

One of the best meals ever! I’m over 60 and been to Italy 6 Times. Fat Hen is superb. Attentive, friendly staff, nice atmosphere and food to die for. Highly recommend the $45 price fixe menu. Squid, mussels and veal were standouts! Our table of 4 shared tastes. Dessert capped an unforgettable evening.

Delicious! The 4 course tasting (quattro piatti) menu is very much worth it. Fluke crudo and cannoli were standouts. I did sneak a bite of my partner’s gnocchi and that was on point too. My only suggestion is to add more lighting, as it is quite dark and we want to be able to see the beautiful food we’re eating!

Amazing! Not only was the food and wine beyond wonderful, it was just a happy environment and the atmosphere and design of the place is so nicely done. I love the led lighting. Chef Michael Bergin you got this!!!!! Well Done!

The staff is so lovely and the food is incredible and lives up to the hype. Get the bucatini. It'll change your life. So great to have good Italian in the 'ville. We will definitely be back!

Reservation at 7, sat at 8:30. Servers/ hostess indifferent, food not worth the wait. Too many better Italian places to frequent, do not waste your time.

Wonderful meal with a very intimate setting! I highly recommend it!

This is one of the best restaurants in Boston -- the food is authentic and made with love, the wines are so carefully curated, the hospitality is outstanding. GO EAT HERE! Everyone should eat here, but save a table for me!

I can't even begin to thank chef Michael for my experience I had tonight with my sister and husband. Although I'm on a medically restricted food plan, I agreed to join in hoping to find someway to follow my meat, salad and cooked vegetable plan. I was over the moon excited with what was presented. A lovely variety of fresh , colorful well thought out vegetables and more amazingly the boneless chicken made me feel so so included in the high level culinary experience . I have found a new happy place!!
