Review Ball Square Cafe - Somerville

I was looking for a place to have breakfast, and once again thanks to the ratings and comments that people write about their experiences in different places, I found this restaurant. It is a not very big but very nice place. The decoration is simple and everything is very clean. It is a busy place and very well accepted by local people. Although there were people, the service was quite fast. The menu is quite extensive, and it is difficult to choose because all their food options are very rich. Everything that was ordered came to the table pretty quickly. Everything was very tasty. Maybe the only thing I didn't love was my iced tea, it tasted a bit like tap water and they don't have sweetened tea, I regularly order half and half. But removing that detail, everything was very tasty. It was a good experience. 😊

Mouth watering steak tips, soooo good. I have no complaints here. They have the best food and I love going here. Parking can be tough but it’s manageable. Just be prepared to keep an eye out for a spot.

Very good breakfast spot among many other breakfast spots in this little area! I had the smoked salmon omelet, banana Nutella French toast, and tried some of the steak and eggs. All of which were delicious!

Excellent place for breakfast and brunch! It was our second visit and won't be the last. That are quick, efficient and nice. Be sure to arrive early and be ready for a wait ouro. It'll move quickly and it's definitely worth it! Very large menu and reasonably priced. Probably a top breakfast place in the area!

So delish! Glad I finally made it here. Worth the hype. Did not wait long at all around 1030am just make sure your entire party is there. Fabulous service and food!

The food was DELICIOUS 😍 everything was amazing atmosphere, waitress, food !!!! Only had one complaint very exspensive for two people to eat breakfast almost $60 and we didn’t get anything that should be that expensive no steak tips . Fit for a king or queen & a veggie omelette so not sure but everything else was 😍

By far one of the best breakfast restaurants I have ever had the pleasure of dining at. I wish I could bring this establishment home with me.

I love it here! It’s so cozy, and I know people complain about the prices, but I feel it’s worth it. The portions are generous and it’s honestly one of my favorite breakfast/brunch places. The french toast platters are huge. The servers are also super kind and attentive. I am always recommending Ball Square Cafe to my friends.

I am obsessed with this place. I've gone 4 times with my boyf and the food is so fresh and delish. The breakfast menu is limitless. Eggs benny a billion ways!! Bottomless coffee and lovely self serve coffee corner! Mike, the owner, actively cares about his customers and it's so clean too. The staff is great. Th guy running the place this am (weds, he had glasses) was really amazing. Honestly. I hate writing reviews in general but I couldn't help myself in this case! :)

Our go to neighborhood spot! On the weekend skip the long line of college kids and order takeout if you live close by! I love that they have beef/pork alternatives for sausage and bacon in addition to phenomenally preparing everything!!!

Everything here is so fresh! The French toast and corn beef hash is the best I've ever had! By far the best breakfast place around!

Today, my husband and I went to Ball Square Cafe, for our second visit. Unbelievably great food!! Huge portions! Todd was our waiter....great service! Met the owner, Mike, who was greeting guests as old friends! Most definitely worth the drive from Peabody!

Visited twice from California and was blown away by both the food, hospitality and management. I rarely see all three of those in play at restaurants these days, I have serviced the hospitality industry for years and this place is what we all should think of if we even think we want to own a place and service the public. Mike made us feel like family, helped us while we waited (yes they will have a wait because it is so good) and connected with each guest at some point. You can drink coffee while you wait but if you love hot cocoa....YOU GOTTA try it! the homemade whipped cream with chocolate shavings is unreal. I have celiac disease and go Gluten free, this place had anything I could have been craving GF pancakes that actually taste like pancakes, waffles, toast and more. If your debating between Ball square and anything else you see on that street..save the brain space and stay in line. Be sure and prep for the weekend wait, and don't go if your starving as on weekends you will need to wait about 30-40 min. Its totally worth it. My only suggestion to Mike is expand that place! and serve more guests!

EVERYthing here is wonderful! Customer service, music, food, decor was ALL fantastic. Why hasn't this place been on Triple D (Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives)????? Mike, one of the owners, is very personable and truly loves what he does. Our server, Jason, looks like Ryan Reynolds! He was great as well. They serve Mighty Leaf tea. My hubby is a fan of this brand. We WILL be back to this joint! It is on point.

5 stars well deserved. I'm visiting from San Diego and just had the absolute BEST time at breakfast here today! The owner Micheal welcomed us with open arms... From the mini hot chocolate with homemade whip cream he served us while waiting in line, to the coconut macaroon French toast with raspberry drizzle, to the laughter inside... you can tell this place is filled with love and respect for his loyal following of customers. The food is fresh and every single bite is unreal - hats off to the chef! 100% worth the wait. No wonder people stand in line in the cold (under heat lamps) to get inside. It's clean and you leave feeling like you're part of the family. Wish they had breakfast spots this awesome on the west coast...Can't wait to come back!

Best breakfast/brunch EVER!!! We discovered this place a week ago and today will make our 4th time going there. I just can't stay away! It is so delicious and the staff is very friendly. They already know us because they've seen us so much in one week.. Gabrielle is great! The food is unbelievably good. I never thought I could love French toast so much but that whip cream is incredible!! The outdoor seating is great for enjoying the summer weather but the AC inside helps on those extra hot or muggy days. Found my forever brunch place ❤️... Getting ready to head there and order my French toast breakfast and indulge in all its deliciousness

coconut macaroon french toast is a must try, the portion size is huge

Everything was AMAZING. It was my first time in MA and probably the best breakfast I've ever had. If I ever come back to MA, I'm definitely going here again.

Absolutely wonderful service. My daughter wanted pasta (which was not on the menu), but the owner's family ran the restaurant next door. He went and had her pasta prepared there and brought it back in to her. I was floored!!! Bravo Sir!! If you want Super Service, this is the place to be!! Thanks guys!!!
