Fred Chason’s Grandsons

Food was good but not as good as what friends have told me. Obviously buffet is no longer a thing but they've done a good job with having their people serve cafeteria style and yet keep it unlimited like buffets used to be. Deserts were sliced nice n small and prepackaged so we could try more than 1. Waitresses keep it very clean in between tables and wipe everything down well between people leaving and entering.

Stumbled upon this restaurant! So glad we did! From the moment we walked in the door, we were happy! Friendly employees. 8 full buffet lines. With all the veggies and entrees you could ask for. Country food. Seafood. Delicious mac and cheese. Bbq. Even soul food. Dessert bar was good. I loved they cut pie in slivers. Gives you room to sample several! We will go back.

Really good food! I didn't try everything but enough to know I liked it. I expect everything at a place like this to taste salty because it is country cooking. Actually the food was great. Pintos were my fav. Salad bar was good. Waiters and staff were all so polite. This was an excellent Friday lunch visit.

This is a great buffet for the price. However, It's always too cold in this restaurant for my taste. I've learned to bring a coat. The apple pie is made perfectly. The fried chicken is the best I've ever had: crispy on the outside and very moist on the inside. Good peanut butter cookies. Good green beans. Excellent shredded pork. Excellent steamed rolls. No one should go away unsatisfied with the selection.

This was my first experience eat at Grandsons and it was awesome! They had every type of vegetables and meats. The only I didn't see was steak and tenderloin but we eat that stuff often so I was happy to have other types of meats. Grandsons have something for every type of eater! The homemade cakes were awesome!! The fruit and salad bar was awesome!! The had one of the top two sweet tea I have ever had!! I am from Alabama and when I say its really hard to impress me when I eat soul food. Grandsons get a 10!! My husband ate two plates and normally he picks over his food when we go out. We agreed the next time we can not figure out what we want for dinner Grandsons will be our to go to place!

Live about 15 miles from this restaurant and have been intending to give it a try...today was that day. What a great experience. To start, the variety and quality of the food on their buffet is excellent. Great selection of Southern dishes prepared just like mama used to cook them. Really nice staff...especially our waiter who frequently checked-in with us to make sure everything was to our liking. He kept the beverage glasses filled...he gets a huge plus with me for that. I really appreciate the very reasonable price...an even greater value when coupled with high quality food and pleasant, attentive service. There is ample parking, and the restaurant is clean, comfortable, and well-organized with plenty of seating and private banquet space for larger family gatherings. One of the best Sunday lunches I’ve had in quite some time. My only complaint is with myself for having waited until now to try Grandson’s Buffet in Smithfield/Selma. You owe it to yourself to dine with these nice folks...you wont regret it. This restaurant goes to the top of my repeat visit list!
