What a surprising discover. We chose to dine here primarily because it was the closest nice dining experience to our hotel, and had the best meal in Door County here! The food was so flavorful, sauces so nicely prepared and appropriately measured, ambiance of the room charming and the wait staff amazingly attentive. Highly recommend you add it to your list!
Such a romantic setting! It was the perfect place for our anniversary dinner. I tried my first oyster ($2 oysters on Thursdays. Raw or grilled). Our server went out of her way to accommodate both a gluten and dairy free diet for my husband. Thanks!
Adult beverage selections including creative cocktails are one highlight. The menu left me wanting nearly everything on the list. But what really makes this a 5 star dining experience is the staff. There are plenty of them and they move about rapidly but not frantically, and are very friendly and accommodating. We'll definitely dine there again. Although we were in one of several dining rooms, Lure also offers a very nice patio dining experience. The addition of parking in back is a welcome feature.
My husband and I had dinner here on out Honey moon. We had calamari as an appetizer. It was Delicious and we were pleasantly surprised with the portion size. We both ordered off the early menu, salmon and perch. Both meals were fantastic, soup was great, and very reasonably priced. Drinks were great and service was wonderful. We would certainly stop again next time we are in town.
Like my wife already posted, absolutely wonderful. They welcomed us and our Lab, Memphis, on their patio. Very accommodating! Zack took care us!!! Seafood pan roast, is to die for!! We'll be back!
I was drawn in by the lure shaped sign off the highway right away. I was hired to play a dinner show and received a free meal. I had the halibut (for the hell of it). Amazing food! Great staff! Strong selection of songwriting musicians all summer too! I’ll be coming back this summer when I’m not working.
Lure is a wonderful place to bribe. The ambiance , staff and food are all amazing ! Love the 5 dollar martini nights with 2 dollar oysters thrown in for good measure . The rack of lamb and the NY strip were cooked to perfection ! We are definitely coming back and will be telling our friends about it !
Exceptional food and service on a busy Saturday night. Our waitress Megan was spot on taking care of us and being friendly without being over the top.
Great place we stopped for their Martini & Oyster special. The grilled oysters with parmesan and garlic were fantastic.
Our waitress Dalia from Romania and Mihaly were wonderful and a great assets to the restaurant.
Had dinner there tonight. The seafood pan roast was phenominal and the service was outstanding. Zac was awesome. We also took our black lab. They are pet friendly on the patio and very accommodating. Will definitely return!
Had an excellent meal here with my mom! Started with the craft cocktails. I had the spicy cucumber gimlet that was to die for! My mom had the smoky manhattan and said it was great. I had scallops with mango salsa that had just the perfect amount of heat. My mom had the crab encrusted grouper and loved it. Can't wait to go back! Service was wonderful!
First time dining at Lure's. We have eaten at Chops and Pasta Vino and love them. We had a great diner, started with a cocktail (old fashion and perfect brandy Manhattan) swordfish and perch fry special we loved them along with a house Chardonnay . Finished with splitting a Irish Coffee watching it snow from our window view on the porch. A must try restaurant in DC. Thanks for a great evening. Rick and Barb.
Our party of four celebrated New Year's Eve here with an early dinner. Surf and Turf was soooooo delicious! Our server, Jason, was top notch!! Loved the atmosphere, will definitely be back!
Make sure you have reservations. Got there earlier and had a drink at the bar while we waited. Wife absolutely loved the blueberry lemon drop. We ordered the baby clams for an app. They were cooked in a garlic butter sauce. Crusted Parm Halibut and the seafood pasta. Very good!
did the early 3-course dinner, total came out to be around ~$38 post tip (they have a 4% surcharge for instability before tip?). nice atmosphere and seating. fish and lobster bisque was really good. key lime pie was interesting?
Simply amazing - down to the drinks, service, and food/dessert. My husband and I had the calamari, seafood pasta and the soy-ginger glazed halibut. Each dish was delicious and the fish was cooked to perfection. We will certainly be coming back!
We went here for dinner on a Sunday night after reading really good things online. It did not disappoint, with small areas for improvement. In short, I would highly recommend and advise not to miss out on the crabcakes!
For a more detailed review:
The food overall was delicious. Some of the best crabcakes I’ve ever had. The seafood, linguine and soy ginger glazed halibut were outstanding. Lobster bisque was the least flavorful, but only in comparison to the other food, so it was still very good. We were excited to try the guava cake as it was something different, but it was very dry and not great. It’s the only thing I can’t recommend. We did try the ice wine and it was delicious. Cocktails were tasty.
Atmosphere was nice as it was not overly crowded. Service was very good, but could’ve been more attentive for being an upscale place.
Areas for improvement:
-presentation on the main courses could have been much improved. The appetizers looked much better.
-offer free bread & more seafood in the dishes as everything is already pricey for the area. (We had to order bread as a starter on a $200+ bill for 2 people.) The sea food was delicious, but there was a limited quantity in each of the plates we ordered.
-have service pay attention to the little things like refilling water without being asked.
-improve or remove the guava cake
-Give a full lobster tail not just a half on the seafood pasta for $13 charged
We were seated on the porch which we loved. We chose the early three-course dinner and were very pleased. I started with the Calamari, which was excellent, and my husband had the Caesar salad which he enjoyed. My husband savored the salmon and I got the crab cakes. I thought these cakes were the closest to those in Baltimore for which I'm always searching to find. My husband ended with Cherry pie and my dessert was a key lime pie. It was more like a key lime cheesecake which made it extra yummy. I had a jaloma as my cocktail and if you like tequila, I'd highly recommend. This place is pricier but I found the meal and experience deserving.
Good atmosphere. The service was great and food was good. For appetizers we order Mussels and fritters, and the crab nachos. Mussels were fantastic. My husband order the Seafood pan roast and it was AMAZING! I order the Crab Crusted Halibut and it was good but rich.
Excellent food & cocktails. Staff was attentive, friendly, knowledge, and fast! Blackened salmon was awesome!
Star ratings. 1 bad. 2 below average. 3 average / neutral. 4 good. 5 excellent.
One of the few places that has ever asked how I wanted my scallops cooked. I was super excited as that meant they had a good chef. Food was great as was the service. Cooked oysters were good. Went in end of October so didn't need to make reservations way ahead of time but I would still suggest regardless of what season.
Edit. I've been here multiple times over the years figured I'd give it an update. Still a 4. Consistent food, service and pricing.
We thought the food was excellent. Went for my birthday dinner and loved every part of it. From drinks, apps (seriously how do you make that cornbread) to the dessert. Good stuff!
I got the halibut and it was so delicious. My husband got a steak and he loved it.
Nice restaurant with great service and delicious food. We enjoyed the prompt seating and outdoor eating area!
Absolutely love the food here. We ordered corn bread, crab nachos, lobster risotto, rib eye steak, crab cake, spicy tuna roll and seafood pasta and every single dish was incredible! I definitely recommend this place!
Amazing experience! Everything was fantastic-the food, service, drinks, and atmosphere! The seafood pasta is superb. The service was perfect. Our server was very attentive. Love the atmosphere. Will definitely come back.
Great food, outstanding service and wonderful atmosphere!
My tuna poke bowl was fresh and delicious. My husband's teriyaki chicken was perfectly cooked. We had amazing service at the bar from Julia on a crazy busy holiday weekend. Can't say enough about how great our evening was!
I had the seafood pasta, excellent. My wife had the grilled salmon from their early dining menu also very good. Service fast and good. Prices reasonable. Not a fan of the 4% service charge on everything and if you look at the suggestions for a tip the service charge is included. Lure needs to get rid of that additional charge.
Fantastic every time! The Halibut & crab crusted halibut is outstanding. Crab nachos are soooo good! Great service and ambiance. We love this place! Update: we come back every year on our annual DC trip. Still our favorite place!! My son had the pork katsu last night..deelish! The calamari is the best we've had, love the fried jalapeños mixed in!
Enjoyed a nice dinner in Sister Bay at Lure. Nice specialty cocktails, imaginative menu options, and good service - great stop for a special or casual dinner.
Lure is a fantastic option for upscale seafood and steak at the top of the hill near Sister Bay! We loved their cocktails. Service was fast and friendly. I couldn't decide between fish and steak, so I got their surf and turf! Perfectly cooked NY Strip and a tasty lobster tail.
