Shi Li Fang

Decided to have a simple cheap lunch. But... ... But we seem have to pay extra for this and that. Still not expensive but feels like I am a tourist oversea. Food still good. Meats still ok and fresh. Instead had a hearty meal in the end and not that cheap nice soup lunch that initially planned. Missing star - pricing not transparent. Food ok.

Affordable ala carte steamboat. Portion and taste of meat and vegetables are decent as well. Soups were rather oily, especially the tomato soup. Overall a pleasant experience. The price was reasonable. The handmade noodles were good. Atmosphere was ok, there were fans and can feel the aircon. May visit again if we are nearby.

Before going down, I checked the website and it stated that they open at 10am. I reached the shop at 10.42am and a lady said their soup is ready yet. I asked her what time would it be ready and she said 11am. When i was digesting what she said, she told me to come back later or to sit in the shop and wait with them 🙄. I was just wondering why would their website indicate opening hour at 10am but the shop is not ready? There was a price hike where some of the usual set lunch went from $9.90 to $10.90 or $12.90 which doesn't include the sauce. The sauce cost $2.10 per pax. In my honest opinion, haidilao would be a better choice with a top up of about $20. You could choose your own preferences rather than a basket of vege and much better service/attitude of the staff.

A strong smell of Ma La at the entrance. After some time, I got used to it. I consider Shi Li Fang (SLF) as a popular chain restaurants. Even on Wed 8pm plus, there was a good size of diners. It is important to mention that they practise safe distancing. To be honest, I find the restaurant squeezy. Due to Covid -19, the chilly sauces were prepared for us and brought to our table. There was a bottle of hand sanitizer on our table. Plus point. When we requested for ladders for each of us, the things were provided as requested. These are commendable points. The best thing about this SLF is their price. Each of us paid $15 with no drinks but we had a hearty meal. A set of $9.90 - $11.90 comes with a plate of meat, a plate of vegetables and mushrooms (add $0.30 for the mushrooms) and a serving of chilli. I am not sure if I paid extra for the chilli but I believe that I paid extra for a pot of 4 types of soup. We were satisfied with the taste of the four soups. Only one friend commented that the chicken soup was not rich enough. We could choose from 4 types of chilli and we loved it. One of my friends requested to have her own choice of ingredients in her chilli and it was done for her. I like such flexibility. The meat and vegetables were fresh. My friends ordered the 肥牛 set and the beef tasted good. It is SLF specialty to let us choose a plush TOP as a free gift at the end of the meal. Honestly, I did not find the plush toys nice but their spirit of wanting to win customers over won me over. I like SLF for providing sincere and good service yet priced affordably.
