Sergeant Hainanese Chicken Rice

I grew up eating chicken rice and this one is average in terms of rice and chicken. The rice is fluffy but not fragrant enough. The chicken meat is average. Chilli is so so and there's no dark soy or ginger condiments given. There are many better tasting ones around our area but with that said, Sergeant is my second grandson's favourite chicken rice stall. Taste is indeed subjective. I'm sure we will be ordering it time and again even though it's not spectacular, it's decent enough for lunch.

My review is for Feb 2021. 1 Word = Average. I don't find it very delicious nor good. Average at its best. Don't know what is so special about this chicken rice stall. I have ate so many chicken rice stall in my whole life, and i can tell you confidently for this kind of price it is NOT worth it. Somewhere @ Golden Mile Food centre is DELICIOUS + Cheap price ! Minimum is $2.50 . Most of the time is long queue. But worth waiting. Affordable and simply delicious. Here at the ION Orchard food court, no thank you. The Chicken meat is abit hard and the taste is okay only. Rice quality is so so. Finally the chili is also disappointed. I can get better taste @ hawker centre or even coffeeshop.

I am in love with the Hainanese chicken served at this place. They have a range of options, allowing you to chose between a steamed / roasted chicken and small / medium / large portions. The chicken rice comes with a side of fresh cucumber and a clear, flavourful soup. It’s comfort food at its finest 😊

What a pleasant surprise! Comparable or better than Boon Tong Kee at Food Court price ($26.40). I had the Hainanese white chicken rice (half), chicken liver and Thai tofu. The chicken was fresh and tender. The soya sauce drizzled over the chicken had a tinge of fragrant sesame oil in it and it was topped with a generous amount of coriander (if you asked for it). The liver was fresh as well. Thai Tofu was freshly fried and soaked in a generous amount of Thai chilli sauce. I tried the curry sauce ($1 with potato) in it and I think that was so so. Definitely give it a try if you like chicken rice. Ps: I am reviewing the branch at ION Orchard (it seems to be a franchise) so I cannot speak for the other branches.
