Review Il Palio Restaurant - Shelton

2.5 hrs for a couple to enjoy a night out. It's a place to take your time and enjoy the food made with quality ingredients. I like how they present the food and the style of their service. Must try the flat bread to get your appetite going. Yummy flavors

What a beautiful restaurant. The staff are all amazing. The food is delicious. The grounds are gorgeous. It made for a beautiful date night out for two busy parents! We thoroughly enjoyed our time and their hospitality. Highly recommend. We will be back to make more family memories here.

We enjoyed dinner very much. The bartender altered a cocktail for me .. it was delicious. It was quiet, dimly lit (this is not a bad thing, the little light on the table had a button to make it easier to read the menu.) Presentation was exquisite. Pasta was cooked to perfection, and filet of sole was as well.. Felt like a special dinner after a long week. Many times when I eat out the food is not better than I prepare at home, but I do not have to prepare it. This meal felt like we were being honored.

Initially the bar tender was a bit dismissive, but he redeemed himself. He was probably just under a lot of stress...I can relate. I got take out. The lasagna was good but lacked sauce. The salmon was great! Veal and calamari were just OK. If this was just a regular italian spot, I would give it 5 stars. However, I expected better food. It was a bit of a let down given the price. This is an expensive place. Maybe the dine-in experience is better. The food alone did not sell me. Maybe I need a different dish. I will consider going again.

What a venue! Threw a surprise party here for my dad and the event couldn't have went smoother. The event coordinator, Claudia, was a pleasure to deal with. Very helpful and made sure all my questions and concerns were handled prior to the event. Day of the event went great. We had the upstairs Contrada room and everyone from the manager to the waitstaff to the owner were so helpful, polite and personable. Claudia even helped me set up the day of the event. The waitstaff we so sweet and kept the drinks flowing all night. They also checked in with me constantly to make sure all my needs were met. A sincere than you for helping me pull off such a delightful event. I have had nothing but compliments on everything including how good the food was and the excellent service. This place is top notch, Would give it 10 stars if I could!!! I also had dinner here the night before with my husband and the hostess, manger and waiter were so nice and pleasant to interact with. Food and drink selection is awesome as well. If you have a private event and want a nice spot, I highly recommend choosing this place.

Wonderful food. Great apps, and main course was excellent. Atmosphere very nice and cozy. Prices are very good especially considering the quality of the dining experience.

My wife and I went here for a family wedding. The food was excellent in a beautiful atmosphere. Staff were professional and very attentive to every detail. This is a very upscale Italian restaurant. Dress business casual. $27 for Lasagna. $40 for salmon. $40 for filet mignon 6 ounces. $12 for 9 ounce glass of pinot noir. We had a wonderful time here.

My husband made reservations based on the reviews and menu; It did not disappoint. Beautiful, romantic restaurant. The staff was very friendly and professional and the food was exceptional. The 'best meatballs ever' live up to the name. As seafood lovers, we had to try the anchovys which were mixed with pickled vegetables and mussels that were juicy and delicious. My husband ordered the grilled filet mignon with fresh horseradish mashed potatoes and sautéed spinach topped with caramelized shallots and Barolo sauce. I had a few bites and the filet was grilled to perfection. My charred octopus salad with green apples, chickpeas, Yukon Gold potatoes in a lemoncello and Soppressata dressing was warm and delicious. Our waiter was pleasant and very attentive. We will definitely recommend Il Palio to our friends.

Oh my gosh !! 😋. Please don’t miss this place . My wife and I went the Friday after Valentine’s Day. Let me tell you what a great experience it was . I had the blackened Halibut and it was the best I’ve had that I can remember. My wife had the Filet and it was perfectly cooked and seasoned not to salty, some restaurants over season their steak. We have been to many fine places all over the U.S. and this place stands out . Loved it , can’t wait to go back for dessert and the mojito I missed because they did not have fresh mint .

Everything was perfect, from the greeting at the door to the delicious fresh pasta with shrimp and mushrooms, to the tartufo and cappuccino. The wait staff was amazing. I couldn’t have asked for a better experience.

We had our wedding IL Palio in mid August. Being an older couple, we wanted a small ceremony and an elegant dinner with family & friends. We were in the all glass Vetro room. We had around 40 people and everyone raved about the ceremony, venue, food, our musicians and overall evening. Krisztina was so helpful through out the planning and everyone at IL Palio made our wedding a night to remember. Thank you to everyone IL Palio.

100% awesome. The food was excellent. The small plates were a little small, server should have let us know that...otherwise perfect night.

We had our wedding reception at Il Palio in December(in the snow). Krisztina was very detail oriented and was a huge help putting everything all together. The staff that night was very attentive and made sure our guests were well taken care of. The food was amazing and our guests are still talking about it. The trees outside were so beautiful between the lights on them and the snow coming down. Made for some amazing pictures. We couldn't have been happier. Thank you again!!

Have been here before and was great. This time not so much. Slow service took forever for waiter to come take our order. Once we ordered food was not all that great. Husband had octopus not cleaned very well, our main dishes needed seasoning. The pasta was fresh and because of that was clumped together. Waiter never came over at anytime to see how things were. There was a head person walking around but he was only talking to 2 tables, one he must of know cuz I heard all about his child. Will not rush back here again. Not worth the money.

We recently dined at Il Palio for the first time after hearing rave reviews from many friends. I can honestly say that it was one of the finest dining experiences that I have ever had. From the moment we walked in, we were seated promptly by a friendly hostess, wished a happy anniversary and presented with a glass of Prosecco. The meal was spectacular and the service was just right. Staff appeared instantly to refill water and clear dishes, without hovering. I don't like hovering. I'm looking forward to dining at Il Palio again very soon.

Food tasted as fresh as if the vegetables were taken right from the garden and prepared for our dinner selections. Gluten free pasta cooked to perfection. Dessert was just as good, a wonderful combination of texture and taste on the palate, bursting with flavor. Portions were just enough. Ambiance was comfortable, classy and welcoming. Impressive decor. We will be back.

Very good food. Service was a bit uneven the night we were there. Great atmosphere. Will definitely go there again.

Best restaurant ever!!! From the Fabulous staff, amazing food, down to the decor and atmosphere! The soft jazz music just adds to the comfort this place gives off. They have great pizzas and an absolutely out of this world open face lasagna!!! Definitely a ++

It was very good, definitely glad we chose it for our "fancy dinner" place for our stay here in CT. The server was friendly, attentive, and knowledgable. Although the food took awhile, the portions were rather large and everything delicious. I had the clam linguini - I disliked I had to remove the clams from their shells myself, but it was worth it. Fiance had the NY strip, it was HUGE and perfectly cooked, the fries were really good and they even managed to dig up some mayo for me to dip them in (because I am weird and like to dip in a mayo/ketchup mixure, even in a fancy place haha) Dessert was the creme brulee, also great, never had pistachio before so it was a nice change. My only disappointment was the appetizer, which were the crab cakes (special of the day). It isn't that they weren't good, but they were just lukewarm, very VERY small and the lemon overpowered the greens they came with. Also, they were NOT worth $16. Overall it was a good choice, I loved how dimly lit it was, nice atmosphere, very pretty decor.

Celebrated my oldest brother's 70th with my family, it was wonderful. Beautiful restaurant and the food is superb, there were 11 of us we ordered 4 of the homemade pasta entrees and passed them around the table. So Delicious and everyone got a taste of each; our main entrees were also fabulously and some got shared. The staff was professional and excellent servers. One of the most beautiful restaurants in CT!
