When I drive from Southern California north to Monterey County, I like to stop to stretch my legs and eat a meal. On this particular trip, I was cutting across Highway 46 on my way to the 101 Freeway listening to a John Steinbeck audio book. Just as my tummy was beginning to rumble, I came upon the Jack Ranch Cafe.
Great Place. Stopped there for some drinks on the way to the coast.Tea was prefect.Then I saw cookies!Homebaked cookies and cinnamon rolls.Excellent.On the way back home we stopped for dinner.Perfect.Took some pie home.My son is a chef for a top restaurant and he loved it.Service was good,nice people.Very good prices too.Clean and homey.I highly recommended this place to my friends on Facebook.

This place is amazing! Visually it looks like a cute country diner and the food is so delicious(I've eaten a lot of bland diner food in my life). The staff are wonderful people, especially Kris. We had such a wonderful conversation with her before we got back on the road. I didn't recognize it at first, we just thought let's give it a try. After walking in I realized it was the same place we always stopped at for breakfast on our trips to the coast when I was a kid. You won't be disappointed with the food, I guarantee it. They are only open for breakfast and lunch so you have to get there by 1pm. We ordered their BLT and 2 Chicken Enchiladas w/ beans and rice plate. Next time we are making it a point to get there early enough for breakfast(they stop serving breakfast @ 11am).
Great breakfast and lunch options at affordable prices. The atmosphere is themed with James Dean memorabilia and makes for a must stop destination. The staff were incredible friendly and genuine. You have to stop here is passing by!
My wife and I stop here for breakfast just about every time we go to the coast. The food is always good, the restrooms clean and the service great. They offer Hearst Ranch beef too.
I got the #2 special and my wife got the ham and eggs which comes with potatoes and toast as well. 2 orange juices and a coffee. $26.80.

This is one of my favorite rides on the weekend. if I can get up and get there early enough their biscuits and gravy are amazing. But I tend to make it for lunch one of my favorites is there cheese enchilada 5 lb steak rice and beans great lunch very filling and delicious. I went yesterday on a Friday great ride I waitress was super nice and the special of the day was homemade fish and chips they cut him and batter them themselves it was absolutely delicious I can't wait to go back next Friday. Everything I've had is always fresh and delicious. so when you're passing by on highway 41 and 46 pull over take a picture of the James Dean memorial and getting something great to eat. And don't forget the homemade cookies on the way out.

Service was wonderful, timely, and accurate. Food was extra yummy, fluffy pancakes, farm fresh eggs, delicious home fries, and life saving orange juice!
Forget all the fancy-smancy fine dinning all along the coasts for meals which have been amped up on hormones & antibiotics, this quaint little diner is the go to spot!

Great place to have a nice steak on the way in to Paso or headed out from the wineries. Friendly service. There is also Mission Trail cider tasting room next door. Can't go wrong for a visit.
Very nice stop. Burgers & fries are delicious!! Enjoyed seeing all the James Dean memorial items. Don't miss this place.

I have been here several times for breakfast and it has always been good. Today I had the hamburger steak patty, eggs, hashbrowns and toast, it was very good. The staff working on this visit were very nice and friendly. The restaurant was clean and so was the restroom.
Yummy breakfast served until 11 came a little before then and placed a to go order ahead of time on the phone, you can also eat inside!
Food is delicious. ..we had hamburger; shredded chicken salad sandwich; grilled ham & cheese and cheese enchilada plate. We were all pleased with food and service.
