Surf and turf awesome! Deep fried pb&j kids menu great too! Family of 5 thought it was great. Although need more beers on tap.
My best meal in Seward!. The Chattermark is a brand-new restaurant in Seward this summer season.
During my week in Seward (business not pleasure!), we tried out a bunch of restaurants. The Chattermark definitely had the best meal out of all of them.
Alongside my boyfriend, I ordered a steak entree. I can't remember exactly what the dish was, but the steak was absolutely perfect. The best one I've had in Alaska. The waitstaff even wait until you cut into the steak to ensure it's cooked to your personal specifications.
The meal was great, the service was great, the booths were a little uncomfortable, but overall the decor was 'Alaska' but not tacky like most of the other places in town. I wouldn't hesitate to return, I hope they make it for many more tourist seasons.
Also, the ginger-cucumber water was a great touch.
Edit: I have been back twice since my original review. Unfortunately both of those meals were not quite as sterling as that first experience. The service is always pretty good, but the food is extremely variable. Don't get the Vegan quinoa dish, it's extremely bland. Also, I ordered another steak entree and this time it was terrible. The sauce was congealed, the steak was so peppery it was almost inedible and it was half fat.
That first visit to the restaurant was so great; I hope the other two were just off-base.
Had fish and chips. Great taste fries were also good. Reason for the 4 instead of the 5 star is the 3 portions were not equal for the 3 orders made and the price a little high for fish and chips. $32 for 2 pieces. Also not asked if we needed anything or how our meal was.
Amazing food, and Karin was an absolute delight to have as a server. She’s super friendly and bubbly.
My only feedback for staff is that they try to seat people in a more timely fashion, or let people seat themselves; I had to wait at the door 10 minutes, and watched others wait and then leave. It’s a shame to lose out on business, because the food is so delicious.
We were originally going to Seward brewing but were turned away (kind of dismissively 2 hours before closing) so we chose Chattermark and it was so wonderful! Should have started here to begin with. The staff was extremely friendly and fit us in even though it was a busy night. The chowder, beer and fish and chips (halibut) were AMAZING. Cozy little spot too. Would definitely go back!
One of the few restaurants actually open during lunch. We were very pleased with the service and food. Servers were really kind and polite. Food was brought out in a timely manner and was hot and delicious.
The fish was outstanding... Very fresh and tender and was not over cooked!!! The chowder was different than I expected but it grew on me and turned out to be very tasty, but it does use rest coast type clams and not local Alaska ones. Portions are very good.
The restaurant was good. We appreciate that it was open late on a Sunday. The service was also good. The food was also good. If we had not eaten at a few more places in the town with outstanding service it would have been a 5 stars. I would recommend and suggest checking this place out.
So usually after a day trip with the cruise operators, the restaurants near the marina will have insane wait time. So I decided to go to the downtown area and tried this restaurant. The halibut fish & chips was 0retty standard and well made. The clam chowder was ok too. Salad was fresh. The scallop ceviche was a little mixed, on one hand it was fresh, on the other hand it was a little bland (a little more salt and vinegar would do wonders). But overall i was glad i went to this place instead of waiting an hour at the marina restaurants just to even get seated.
