Review Holston's Kitchen - Sevierville

A great place for a date night. Such a huge selection of food; there is something for everyone. Everything we ordered was delicious. Best Fish and Chips I have ever had! Go for it with the Pit Master Nachos! You won’t be disappointed! Prices are very reasonable and atmosphere is warm. Service was wonderful at our table. Could improve on service at the bar and our Old Fashioned was not the best. Overall, a great, not expensive experience! Highly recommend!

My wife and i ventured out to a new place. She had heard about Houston’s and we went for dinner. Very nice atmosphere, family friendly. Below are a few pics of our dinner and menu. I had the rotisserie chicken with rice and my wife had the grilled chicken teriyaki with shoe string fries. We will definitely keep this restaurant in mind next time we are up here

This place feels high end without the high end prices. My wife had the ribeye and sweet potato with broccoli and I had the Turkey Club with baked mac and cheese. I really loved the club as they uses a cranberry mayo which added a nice little bit of sweetness to the turkey and the mac and cheese had a really nice creamy cheese flavor, not too thick and not watered down. The steak was cooked perfectly and the sweet potato and broccoli were delicious and not overcooked. We really enjoyed the outdoor seating and they have fireplaces outside they can turn on for ambiance if you like. We have added it to our list of great places to eat when we visit pigeon forge. Great food and very affordable meals. Great for families.

This restaurant is great! The service is very good. The food is delicious! It's really dark inside, so let your eyes adjust from outside before you walk to your table. We will definitely eat there again and again. Check out our fried green tomatoes. They added a touch of love to them.

Nice atmosphere and family friendly. Seated immediately and service was very quick and friendly. Food came out fast and hot. Steak was better than most, I'd put it ahead of anything you'd get at Longhorn or Texas Roadhouse. Prices were fair. I'd recommend this place to anyone looking for good food and service.

Really good place a little off the main strip. Loved the look of the restaurant on the inside. Our server was great. The drinks were fantastic. Wife had a Blackberry Moonshine Margarita and I had the Black Cherry Old Fashioned. It was Mexican Monday so we went with the fajita chicken burrito and beef enchiladas. Both were really tasty and flavourful. Kudos to our server Heath for grabbing some to go cups of salsa after he had told us they were out of salsa and weren't offering the chips and salsa with our entrées. Awesome customer service! The prices were very reasonable, so we'll have to come back and try some of the other menu items.

Excellent dining experience! From start until finish Holston's Kitchen is a must!! Our server Joshua was a great waiter, and made the dining experience even better. The food was amazing, lots of flavor and the dining atmosphere was very nice. Can't wait to come back!!

Heather was the best service we have had in a long time! Very friendly and prompt. Food was timed perfectly. Salmon was great. Mexico burger was lacking. Fried pickles amazing! Perfect atmosphere. Love all the old Sevierville photos. Thank you again Heather!

Their take on chicken marsala is different than I am used to. The perfectly cut chicken with perfect grill lines looked like a machine made microwave meal. That being said it was tasty. The blue cheese dressing for my salad had lots of cheese chucks and was great. I did ask for bread and was told I could order some as it did not come with my meal. Service was very good I may go back.

Extreme hot to the point I think the 95 degrees outside would have felt cool. Would say maybe change the big dim lights out with fans with lights. The A/c was not working or off. They stated a 25-30 min wait , and we were seated after an hour and 15 minutes. The servicer made the whole experience better and helped us get food fast. Appetizers were great. They over all entrée meals were not the best as they lacked flavor. Overall, I feel if you went here on a slow night, it wouldn't be the same experience we had, but maybe I am wrong. I will put this place on my list to retry and see how it goes.

I feel I need to give 2 separate reviews. We ate here twice for dinner at it was rally good. Like 4.5 good. Food was good, pasta, fajitas, bbq ribs, all good enough to bring us back for Saturday Brunch. We were looking forward to this and had reviewed selections on the website. They blew it. Giving something a fancy name doesn't make it special. The French Toast was just ordinary French Toast... nothing special. Plus, our server brought it to us with the drizzle on the side because " just in case...I know I don't like it" Well allrighty. I just think before you change a dish from how it is presented on the menu, you should ask. The omelette was not edible and I sent it back. I rarely do this. But it was so bad that I ended up spitting out the one bite that I took. When asked what was wrong with it, all I could say was everthing. It was disgusting. It lacked any moisture at all. It was barely warm. The stuff inside just sat there, lost, like they didn't belong. Honestly, it was like something that got pulled out of a box from the freezer and heated in the microwave. Cannot recommend.

Service was very slow, but we did have a big group. I ordered the 12oz pork chop, and was very disappointed. Someone must have had their thumb on the scale when they weighed it, because it could not have been more than 8 oz when they un-thawed it, and cooked until it would have been good shoe leather. My wife got the fish and chips, which I tried. A lot of breading on these fish sticks, and were soggy by the time we got them.<br/>Won't be back.

We had a group of 12 who ate here last Wednesday night. I read the reviews on Yelp and they were rather mixed but mostly good so we made a reservation. Sad to say it was not a good experience. First let me say that the service was good. We had a friendly waitress who was very attentive. Sorry I don't remember her name. But, from here it's all down hill. Apparently they only serve their prime rib special on Wednesdays so several in our group ordered it. Have you ever had prime rib loaded with Italian seasoning. No? Neither had we. Not a good idea. Prime rib should taste like prime rib. These were ruined by the seasoning but that wasn't the only problem. Two were so bad we sent them back; or we tried to. The manager reluctantly replaced the first plate with a cut that looked better but was not a quality cut of meat and tasted no better. When we asked to have the second plate replaced (it was 50% fat & gristle) he said, "That's the last prime rib we have." And he did not offer to provide a substitute. I now understand how this restaurant has gotten mixed reviews. If you decide to go I hope your experience will be much better than ours.

With many different choices and good service, I like to go to Holston's when I'm in town. Great atmosphere and friendly staff make your dining experience but when you get you food it only gets better! This is a must try when visiting Sevierville, TN and the surrounding area. Don't forget to try the potato salad ;)

We had drove by the restaurant many times on the way to baseball tournaments. We had a little extra time before our next sporting event so we stopped in.<br/>Our server, Rachel, was awesome. She was very attentive, professional and good at her job. My husband was joining us late as he was coaching a football game. That is where the wheels came off ...<br/>When he arrived, he came over with another one of the players to join our party. We had already accounted for my husband in our party. Basically, the manager came over to make a scene about us not adding to our party and that he had people waiting for our tables. He basically ran us off. We had two other teams coming later to Holstons but we notified them of the service they could expect so they went elsewhere. Keep in mind that at 715 pm on a Sat, the wait list was only 3 deep. As I am talking to "Dave", he walks off. I will never spend another dollar at this restaurant. I plan to contact the owner Monday to make sure they are aware of their situation. The food was average at best. My chicken tasted like McDonalds. Keep driving past this place and get a better experience!

I'm not kidding when I say im leaving this place as I write this review. ITS ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE. My check was $112.00 for what tasted like microwaveable dinners. We ordered the following:<br/><br/>"Market fresh fish" called grouper. First, it smelled to high heaven. My son couldn't eat it. Second, it was not grouper. Considering I fish for grouper several times a year, I can identify grouper. I'm not one to argue with people but I will share the truth online and hope others don't get disappointed or ripped off....next....<br/><br/>Beer battered fish. The fries were disgusting. The salad was warm. The fish was full of batter and looked like a little piece of cod in there somewhere.<br/><br/>Fettachini Alfredo with chicken. I'm totally convinced it was a frozen meal heated. She was 7 and couldn't eat it because of the bad after taste. <br/><br/>Grilled chicken....bet you it's a Tyson piece thawed and grilled by a "chef" that can't cook chicken. Tough and dry.<br/><br/>Chopped steak with mashed potatoes. Mashed potatoes were good. The meat patty was almost identical to the hamburger that the cafeteria had in high school. <br/><br/>The place is dressed up nicely but hot. It looks good but I'm not kidding when I say it's probably ranks as one of the worst meals in history. <br/><br/>I know this seems harsh but I'm laying it out very honest. Do not waste your money or time. There are way too many good places to eat in Sevierville. Sadly, I bet they prey on the out of town people for the business. It will eventually cave in. <br/><br/>Oh and the beer was warm too. <br/><br/>I'm done and I hope I saved a few from wasting money and being disappointed as my family.<br/>

Hawaiian Ribeye was excellent! Sweet potato soufflé, fried pickles were great. Great place for kids also and reasonable prices. We will be back for sure!

You need to try this place!!!!!<br/>Service was outstanding and food was even better. I had the roast beef and my wife had the whiskey burger. Both were absolutely perfect. This place was recommended by a local and I can't wait to thank them.

Holston's is a pretty solid place. There are things that I just would not get here, but I can say that about a lot of places that are quite enjoyable for the most part. 85% of the staff here is friendly, especially the actual servers. They also have good roast beef, french onion soup, and fried pickles
The Discriminating Palate
It was "Mexican Night" so I opted for the fish tacos, and I was pleasantly surprised -- they were some of the best I've ever had; a burst of flavor in my mouth. The French onion soup was excellent as well. The stuffed avocado appetizer was good. To finish I had the orange soak cake, although it didn't taste like orange at all, just caramel. It was still good, though.

We've eaten here several times and are never disappointed. Excellent food and service! Best fried pickles!! Fresh salads! Steaks, burgers, fish - all delicious! Desserts look wonderful, but we're always too full to order any!

Jaime Mcdaniel. This is a great restaurant! The food is great and the service is exceptional. We had MeKenzie wait on us and she is awesome! All of us just love that place and her!

Amazing!!!. After reading the ruthless and very rude reviews, I am appalled at some of the things people complain about. Well, I'm going to redeem the restaurant and say it was delicious! My Fiancé and I thought The atmosphere was beautiful and romantic. The food was delectable! I am a huge fan of sweet potatoes and the sweet potato French fries were so good. The cinnamon and sugar on them were a surprise that I loved. I would have been happy with a double order of them. <br/>The sirloin and ribeye.....YUM! <br/>Thanks for the great service and awesome food!

Disappointed. The food and atmosphere at Holston's is great. Our church group was going to have our monthly meeting there, plus a birthday celebration for one of our members on Friday, July 11, 2014. I called before noon that day and was told that reservations could not be made; I asked the person if they would make note that we would have 10 to 11people coming in @ 7:00 P.M. I was told by the person on the telephone that they already had a group of 11 and 25 that had called in.<br/><br/>After getting to Holston's I found out that our Group Leader had also called that same morning and notified the restaurant that there would be a total of 11 coming in for dinner @ 7:00 P.M. So that means that was the 11 that the person on the telephone had told me about when I called in most likely.<br/><br/>When I arrived at Holston's it was approximately 7:10 P.M., and the other group members were already waiting, with the exception of one. I think that the Group Leader and myself was told that it would be around 45 minutes. After I arrived at the restaurant we changed the number to possibly seating for 12.<br/><br/>After waiting and complaining and every single person, group, being seated that entered the restaurant following about an 1 hour, the hostess told the Group Leader that she could separate us and put use in two booths, in the bar area, the she told her no that some of us did not want to sit in the bar area, and that we did not want to be separated.<br/><br/>We continued to wait for a total of 1 hour and 20 minutes and there was no accommodations ever made to seat us. When I approached the hostess about the wait, she said I offered to seat you all in the bar area. <br/><br/> There was two tables that were put together about 8:00 P.M., for around 8 people I ask her why there could have not be plans made for a third table to have been put together for our group, and those people offered the two booths in the bar area, and I was told there was older people in that group. We had people in our group that were older too. I think the hostess was upset because the Group Leader did not take the seats in the bar area that she offered, and it made her mad, so she just made us wait.<br/><br/>To my knowledge the two booths in the bar area were not filled. <br/><br/>My problem with this is that by mistake me and the Group Leader both had called in to the restaurant to let make the hostess aware that two groups of around 10-12 people would be coming in at 7:00 P.M., when in fact it was going to be only one. My question is why on earth could the hostess not have mad plans to have put tables together to have accommodated large groups, when they had notice of them coming in. <br/><br/>Okay, let's assume they didn't do that should they not have been able to have put 3 tables together at some point before an 1 hour and 20 minutes. Most restaurants that I have been in will try and get the larger parties seated first. <br/><br/>We told the hostess that we were going to have to leave at 8:20 P.M., unless there was something she could do, or a manager could do and this is what she said to me, "I offered to seat you all in the bar". this is why I think that she was mad because we did not sit in the booths, in the bar area.<br/><br/>That night your restaurant lost 11 peoples business, and that is local people. Now you may not care, maybe you have more business than you need or can handle, but to me the local businesses in town, need our local customers when times are slow. Also being treated that way kind of leaves a bad feeling with you, like something was wrong, that we were the only people not seated.<br/><br/>I personally felt responsible, because I choose Holston's, because some of our group members had not ate there and I thought that they would enjoy it. Who know if they will or will not try it again, with the experience we had.<br/><br/>I personally feel that it was totally unnecessary and I am sorry that we had the experience, because it is a good place to eat.<br/><br/>I appreciate your taking the time to read my e-mail I believe that it is important to make businesses aware of customer service issues.<br/><br/>Thank you and I hope that management can find ways to work with the hostess staffing to better train them to avoid situations such as ours.<br/><br/>Kathy

Diner from Ohio. I noticed a lot of dismal reviews from people who lived generally close by. Perhaps that is because you have The Old Mill and some of the other restaurants. I am from Ohio and my now 2 favorite places to dine in Tennessee is the Old Mill and Holston's Kitchen. I thought it was fabulous and extremely affordable, when compared to a lot of the other places in the area. I have a large family and each shares my sentiments. We cannot wait to go back. Someone commented on the Big Orange Soak cake and it was something to crave. My suggestion to anyone considering this place is to please give it a try and make your own opinion. I don't feel that you'll be sorry you did!

I have ate at Holston's three times now, amazing food! And the Big Orange Soak Cake is awesome!

Late night dinner with tired husband and kids. I was skeptical based on the % of dislikes, but was pleasantly surprised and happy with the choice. Everyone cleaned their plates. I enjoyed the Cedar Plank Salmon. I choose to have the mango chutney on the side, but overall flavor was great. Broccoli and rice were good. My husband had the Mexican Chili burger and cleaned his plate minus the few leftover fries. There were plenty of those. My daughter had the spaghetti and meatballs. Only 2 meatballs, small on size, they could add a few more. She ate the entire portion which is not normal for her. Our son devoured his grilled cheese and apple sauce. I have no complaints. Our waitress was very attentive and polite. Would recommend for a decent dinner.

A GREAT find!. Highly recommend Holston's! Found it on Urbanspoon while visiting Seiverville. Killer atmosphere. Perfect for adults and children. Menu is not too big, balanced selections. Portions and prices were on point. Excellent service as well.

Tried this restaurant for the first time with my girlfriends and left very disappointed. Food was subpar and service was poor. Overall it was a bad experience and we will not go back.

Thanksgiving Shame. Went with my family to Thanksgiving dinner at Holston's based on a recommendation from friends. It was bland at best. But the service made it unbearable. There was no explanation of the 'family style' meal - we were only offered 'turkey or ham'. Come to find out when the main course came out, the turkey and the mashed potatoes were both covered in gravy. I asked as soon as I noticed if I could have mine served on the side and was told it was too late, mine was already here. I mentioned that we weren't told that gravy was being served on the turkey and she just sat down my plate anyway. Due to dietary restrictions I was only going to be able to eat the turkey but was trying to not make a big deal out of it, now I had nothing to eat. Dessert was served (pumpkin pie), I told her no thanks. And she told me it came with the meal. Be that as it may, I didn't want any, but thank you. So she offers it to the table at large, which would have been fine if she had stopped at that, but she goes on to say that if no one takes it that she will have to throw it out. Really? If this Thanksgiving meal is any indication of the quality of food, keep driving. Even if it's not, the service makes any quality of food not worth it.
Cathy
Went here with your group. Fish undercooked took forever to bring it back to the table. The waitress then cleared my friends plate offered no coffee we had to ask for it. Would go elsewhere

Me and my boyfriend went here tonight for my birthday and we both ordered the ribeye steak and it was the worst steak we have ever had.. It had no seasoning at all, not even salt or pepper on it.. When our extremely rude server asked what was wrong because we wernt eating I asked her if the cook usually seasoned the steaks and she said I don't know I'm only a server ill half to ask. The manager came by and said well next time you should be sure to ask for seasoning and just walked away before I could even say I'm sorry we have been here before and they wernt like this last time. The previous time we went they were full of flavor and I expected they would still season the meat like all steak houses do. Needless to say we will not be going back since the staff apparently has other things to do rather than try and help the customers..

Food. This first time experience was NOT what I expected. First of all...my husband & I orderd the Pork Chop dinner. The Pork Chop was NOT done..it was very pink....when my husband talked the manager..instead of the manager being polite and apologizing...he kept saying it WAS done...and it was suppose to look like that!! The 2 sides were very small. The mashed potato's were only a small ice cream scoop!! The baked beans tasted good, but, was a very small portion! No bread was offered! We had to pay for a very unsatisfying meal...$30.00 w/tip! I am sorry, but, we will NOT go back!

Had Holston's for lunch today. Loved it! Service was friendly, food was excellent. Had their special: fried green tomato BLT. Generous serving of fries on the side. Had a bite of my friend's spinach maria, it was deliciius. Can't wait to go back.

Need Changes. Today we ate at your restaurant for the 4th and final time. The server at the bar served my husband's salmon on rice pilaf with a side of salad. Oops no pilaf, no salad, came out of the kitchen that way and served like that. Server actually left area without even noticing. Requested rest of dinner. My Cobb salad was dismally small no onions or croutons not anything even interesting. Certainly not worth the price. Not even a roll! Server left area even though we hard told him were done and had to request bill from someone else. Did not order a drink as last time we were there it was like drinking expensive soda! We have relocated here from the Boston area and this place wouldn't last a week there. In all fairness it (except for the cocktails) was great when it first opened. Recommended it to friends. No More

My Opinion. I tried Holstons when it first opened and was optimistic about the food, service and quality being a new place. Our first visit, the service was okay, the food was good for the price point and overall, the dining experience was acceptable. I often read reviews on urban spoon and this place is rated very low. So I dined their again to see why. We were greeted at the door and seated promptly. However, the server did not come by for a little bit and when she did get to us, she was not very attentive. The beer choices are pathetic, they need to broaden their selections, and the wine choices could also use some enhancing. We ordered a chicken and beef entrée. The food was served hot and cooked as requested. However, the food did take a while to get their once we placed the order and during this time, the server never stopped by to check on us. Overall, the food met our expectation, service could be better and the drink choices need to be improved. Their are many choices, so if this place is going to survive, I suggest they need some fine tuning...

First time. Ordered reuben and wife had grilled chicken. Food was really delicious with generous portions. Carrot cake was superb. Atmosphere is beautiful and service was quick. Really pleasantly surprised because we had another tourist restaraunt but it was anything but. Hole they keep us this level of service and food quality. Even manager came by to check on us. Very impressed.

Dissatisfied Customer. I tried the new Holston's restaurant today and I was truly shocked at the ridiculous prices on the menu. Considering, the amount of food served and the prices, you will not be open long. My husband and I decided we would just get an appetizer. For $12.99, we got two small pieces of chicken, 2 quesadillas, one onion ring, 2 slices of fired green tomatoes and the rest was adornment for the quesadillas. What a joke. I foresee that at that rate, you will be closed within the year. Will never recommend your establishment to any of my friends or family. For what we paid for an appetizer and two teas, we could have saved money by going to Sonic!!!!!

Needs some work. Stopped last week as saw was one of the newere openings in town.<br/><br/>The decor and building lead one to think is a bit more upscale than my experience. The overall experience was just average. I ordered the filet and side of spinach. The dish came with a salad and it actually came after the meal was already served.<br/><br/>I could have lived with that but the croutons in the salad were stale. Making the salad enedible. I pushed it ot the side and staretd on the entree.<br/><br/>After cutting into enough steaks and highe end cuts of meats I know what a tender steak will "feel" like. This was not the case. The outside had a very thick skin from the cooking process. Not blackened but pretty done. The inside although better was frankly lacking on flavor. <br/><br/>The dining room is open and lends itself to a pretty noisy meal.<br/><br/>I will probably go back but not for a bit of time to pass to allow some rework.

We have been to the restaurant twice and we have enjoyed it both times. We had family from out of town and they liked also. Food is very good and the potions are quite generous.

I love my dog Abby too much to even subject her to the thought of having to look at the food on the plate I received... Much less eating it. It pains me to write I would rather eat out if the dumpster at Golden Corral than subject myself to the "so called" food at Holston's Kitchen

Fabulous addition to sevierville

What a disappointment, food cold, food inferior. Service marginal. Food pricey for the food quality. Seems they are trying to serve unacceptable product at high prices. When I visited, kitchen was very slow in getting food out. Have heard similiar comments from other locals who are not coming back.Holstons Kitchen: Get it together,Don't become another has-been restaurant in Sevierville.

Everything about our experience was great. Food and Service were excellent.

We were headed there tonight and then looked at their prices. So now we are sitting at Outback Steakhouse. <br/><br/>Holston's is 2 - 3 dollars more expensive for their steaks for the same size cut. <br/><br/>We really wanted a new option around here but I am not going to just throw money away. <br/><br/>I'll try you guys when you have lunch option.<br/><br/><br/>-----18 Mar, 2013-----<br/><br/>It says they are open for lunch but my wife and I have tried to go a couple times and they are only open after 4:00<br/><br/>Also the phone number listed here 428-8001 does not work and always gives a fast busy signal. <br/><br/>Good luck Holstons. You should try the local lunch crowd. You might make money.

Great atmosphere and food. The decor lends it to being a little noisy. Otherwise a great place to dine.
