Review Wong's Kitchen - Seattle

Matt Perrone
Wong's, a Chinese food restaurant and bar (yes they are separated in the building) is a decent food option in the area. The food is actually pretty delicious, the problem is their portions and how small they are (pictured below). Two dishes were $30, and I could've eaten both and still had room for more. Service is good here, although some nights if it's busy it may take a bit to get your food or place an order. Parking outside is good and it's easy to find. If they would double their portion size (could even charge $1-3 more per dish) then this would get 5 stars because it tastes great.

Best Chinese food ever... from a little hole in the wall restaurant in Seattle!?! Made to order fresh food with hand crafted cocktails... thank you Wong's Kitchen for ruining any other Chinese food for us now... guess we'll just have to keep coming back... LOL!!

We are both vegan and find plenty of yummy food to eat here at our beloved neighborhood Wong's. Not only that, but the waitress, Marcella, knows just what to recommend for vegans. With her guidance, you can't go wrong. I know that non vegans can't go wrong either, based on what friends we've brought here say.

I just had tofu done Orange Chicken style and it was incredible! The staff are awesome and the prices are great. We're going to be losing a gem when they close, so get there and eat before they do!

The waitress was so friendly, great service ! This is the kind of place you end up striking conversation with people at other tables. 80's music playing 😍

The food was great. Even better was the gal working in front. I'm pretty introverted and was ready to just do stuff on my phone while waiting for my take out order, but she was so cheerful, friendly, and passionate about her job that I'm planning to eat in next time I'm in the area. I decided I loved the place before I even tried the food... Which, again, turned out to be amazing, so even if you just want to take it home, it is VERY worth it!

First visit last night during their Halloween party. A fun crowd. The staff were very friendly and made us feel at home. The karaoke was very entertaining. We ordered crispy noodles and house special wonton soup. Really, really delicious. Most people around us were ordering the garlic wings. Looked and smelled delicious. Think we’ll try those next time. We will definitely go back.

I really like the atmosphere of the bar and their food is really good (made from scratch), but if you want Chinese on a weekend you'll be sitting for a bit. I think a 45 minute wait is about normal here, they only have two cooks. So call ahead, pick up only or order some apps. Wong's if your reading this: maybe bring out some egg rolls if the wait is 30+.

Love the food, especially enjoyed the conversation with the staff! It's super fantastic that all food is made to order, so they were able to satisfy me and my dietary needs! I definitely recommend this place to everyone and plan on being a regular!

Fun place to hang out with the mayor of wongs..it's the right place. Jen the bartender is fabulous. The wings are to die for as are the home made pot stickers.

Ok so the wait was long Seems the kitchen was backed up with to go oder but the staff was very friendly and up front about it. We started with the garlic wings and damn were they good. Dinner was great and I would say the sweet n sour pork was the best I have ever had. The only thing wrong with this place is the location not closer to my home. Thanks Wong's Kitchen for an enjoyable meal.

The egg drop soup is so nurturing and yummy, along with crab rangoons. Marcella is the best. We have been glad to find good food and a restaurant open late, as we have been working long hours to prepare a house for sale. When we were recovering from illness the egg drop soup was just the ticket. Everything we have eaten is wonderful and tasty. We will never be bored trying all the different menu items. Staff is great. Thank you.

New favorite bar in Seattle, hands down. Best bartenders in the north end.

This place is perfect from the food to the staff. Easily my favorite Chinese place in Seattle (from an actual Seattilite). I've been coming here for years and it's only gotten better

I live in the area and made assumptions about the place based on the dreary looking exterior. I was wrong. I've been a few times now and everyone I've come with is also always pleasantly surprised. The food is really really good! The servers are also very friendly and laid back. I'm glad I took the chance for some to-go food that first time.

Best Chinese outside the international district?. I'll preface this review with a simple truth; Never before tonight have I been moved to write a review on here. There, now for the details.
Wong's isn't what you'd expect from the first glance. Don't be turned away by the cover, this place is definitely worth a try. Everything is fresh, the staff is friendly, and the atmosphere may be the most interesting of anywhere I've ever eaten. I ordered what I use to judge all Chinese restaurants on my first visit, sweet and sour chicken. It comes as a dinner with soup, appetizers, (like real appetizers, they come out before the meal) rice, and your entree.
The soup came out, probably the second best hot and sour soup I've ever eaten, but I was still skeptical. The broth was very flavorful, and you could taste the herbs and spices, the tofu had the perfect texture, and the mushrooms actually had flavor. 9/10.
The appetizers came out, crab Rangoon and an egg roll. You could tell they'd both just been made, the Rangoon was cooked perfectly, and the stuffing was flavorful and you could actually tell there was crab in it. The egg roll was cooked perfectly as well, and the mixture of spices in it was perfect. Best egg roll I've ever eaten.
The main course. After this experience so far, I was ready for the let down. The chicken came out, it looked like your standard, red sauce with some carrots and bell pepper and pineapple. the pieces of chicken were obviously hand cut, then fried to perfection, but I was still prepared for the let down. My mind was telling me, it's going to be too sweet, you can smell it, just be prepared. I take my first bite... whoever sold there soul to the devil for this recipe got the better end of the deal. I can't even describe the flavor notes in this sauce, and after sampling so many variations, I'm basically a sommelier of this sauce.
Don't miss out on an opportunity to try this place, it is Chinese perfection.

The Worst. I have lived in t his area for 5 yrs. During that time I have tried this restaurant twice. The last time I told the fellow who took my take out order that if the food was good, I would be back. I have not been back.

Our food was wonderful and service rocked!

It was a little weird that nobody else was there.
