Such an under rated spot. Funky building, cheap amazing Japanese comfort food, stiff drinks, great staff. Everything you would want in a great dive. I drive 40 min each way for the Kewpie spaghetti and spicy fried chicken.

Excellent service, food, unique to the average American fare. Food presentation is well done for each dish, simple and aesthetic. Taste and seasonings are right on point. Absolutely no complaints. One person servicing ALL the customers, busy, friendly and responsive! Pricing is another story.

Best Japanese food. Super delicious. The omurice and Japanese curry are authentic.

Really interesting place. Definitely a great place for happy hour. It was incredibly warm inside the restaurant and all the fan did was move the hot air around. The server was fantastic though and had a great attitude about it all. I could definitely see this being a regular happy hour spot for us during the colder months.

Came here because we noticed this place has been here for almost 30 years. Had perfect portion and fast friend service. Here's what we ordered 1. Beef curry with spicy chicken It had more than enough flavorful sauce and was very filling. 2. Zaru soba with tempura Balanced sauce with perfect noodles. 3. Bacon and mushroom doria (gratin over rice) Cheese goodness. Period. 4. Beef tongue. Delicious. if you like brisket at kbbq you'll enjoy this. 5.takoyaki Very standard takoyaki can't go wrong. 6.tonpeiyaki (okonomiyaki-ish with squid) Like and omelet with squid, couldn't eat this but my friends said it was very flavorful. There are also specials from time to time. Would recommend.

I visit this place mainly with folks after I pick them up from the airport. It's open late, has a relaxing, homey vibe, and has perfectly fine tasting food. Nothing is surprising here and you get to spend an hour in a pretty neat bar area that overlooks Hing Hay park. A great place to grab a draft, sit down, take deep breath, and exist. Curry is yummy, their pork cutlet is good. The Doria is kind of awesome, would recommend if you like risotto-esque dishes. Everything else I've had here is perfectly fine!

Haven’t been here for a long time. We ordered fried chicken, spaghetti and fried oysters. We enjoyed all the dishes. Definitely will come back again.

Fort St. George is located on the second floor of the 601 S King St building - truly a hidden gem. On a weekday dinner, the restaurant had a nice dimly-lit, relaxed atmosphere and great views of the heart of International District. The service was excellent and the Japanese comfort food were delicious. We each ordered a tempura udon and potato croquettes. I hope to come back to try their omurice, curry, and spaghetti. I consider the price point relatively higher than average for the area.

Hm, been only once so… Curry is fine. Average. I can cook that at home and be solid. 3.5 star overall The Doria? It’s a casserole dish that is average. 3 star. It’s neutral so it depends on your taste preferences/style. Kimchi fried rice? Awesome. 5-star. I would get that all day. That saved the meal for me and why I would give it 4 stars. The place is cool and I would recommend it to anyone, but for food, it’s a toss up. Good food but not my style…so my experience is very dish dependent. Price? It’s Seattle. Kind of high at $15/plate (2022).

Discovered this Japanese comfort food gem thanks to Google Maps restaurant search, as neither the restaurant name nor external signage gives any indication as to what awaits visitors. The second story restaurant has views of the park next door and is super casual with grunge rock playing on the sound system and Adult Swim on the TV during our visit. I was surprised and happy to find that Japanese comfort food is very similar to the food Mom cooked growing up in a tiny town in Mississippi. Everything was delicious, the wine pours were generous and the staff were friendly. Will definitely be going back to try more menu items.
