Review Babirusa - Seattle

The lemon French toast was divine. Not to mention the hand squeezed orange juice

Excellent place. We ordered the chefs tasting menu and were not disappointed. We enjoyed yellow tail both raw and seared, lamb pate, squid, halibut with morels, steak, and other items. Sizes were large and it was almost too much food, which isn't a bad thing. Will be going back.

Delicious and amazing. The staff is fantastic and can mix you a cocktail just to your taste, the food is delicious and made with largely Northwest fare. I love that it's small and intimate as well. One of my favorites.

Sometimes you discover gems in your own back yard. This is the case of Babirusa. I walked passed this tiny establishment everyday since it opened and never went in, don't follow my lead. Go there as soon as you can. Their menu changes daily but expect a soup, fried potatoes and a gnocchi on the menu. As a vegan I was concerned that I wouldn't find anything but just ask and they can accommodate you. I had a squash soup that was rich and smoky tasting and a kohlrabi salad. Everything was fantastic. One thing to be aware of is things add up quick. It's easy to rack up a $100 for two.

Babirusa is the "more casual" sister bar of The Blind Pig, but it's much more than pub food. I frequent this place as I have a friend that lives close by. What is not to like here (well, I'll get to that in a bit)? The food is the main attraction, new menu daily and prepared fresh in front of your eyes. Rene is a cool cat and his staff is excellent, always, so expect great service. They keep each menu item under $20 and so you can sample a bit. Between my friend and I, we typically order about 4-6 plates, depending on how hungry we get. Their seafood is always good, meats are tender and juicy, veggie dishes creative and authentic. This isn't typical "bar food", Babirusa is a strong notch above more in the realm of quality tapas. Minor negatives: - You're not going to impress anyone pulling up to this place, which sits in an Eastlake strip mall next to a Subway. Please don't let the location deter you, this place is fantastic and the people are wonderful. - At $7 each, draft beer is simply too expensive. I'd expect more in the 5-6 range, but maybe I'm being cheap. - No seafood takeout, apparently this is some kind of safety issue but it's the only place I've run into this rule.

Absolutely loved our meal here. We were seated right away around 6:30pm on a Sunday. There was a wait at the completion of our meal. The menu is written on a board so you know it changes fairly often. There were several interesting dishes to try but I decided to try their burger. It was fantastic! Best burger I have had in Seattle yet. The bun was fresh baked and light and fluffy but held together well despite all the juiciness of the burger. The Painted Hills beef was topped with caramelized onions, salsa verde, and eggplant aioli. Holy cow! It also came with a side of fried potatoes that were pillows of heaven and served with an aioli. I devoured that burger. My dining partner tried their chicken and waffles and was very happy with what he got. Great fried chicken drizzled with honey and sitting on a great waffle with a cup of gravy to dip into it. He cleaned his plate too. The music in the restaurant was nice, the volume of the dining room was just right. I'd like to try their drinks but we just went with water. I want to go back already!

Crazy amazing. My new favorite bar. Always changing up the menu and everything is always fresh. Would recommend for people who want good food, chill atmosphere and a great location. Thumbs up! Check out their Facebook page, that's where the magic is at.

The full menu option is a bit spendy but entirely worth it. You will experience a huge variety of artistic creations (usually 9 dinner items and a dessert) and they have options for vegetarians and pescatarians alike.

They're great at making drinks to satisfy your need. They always ask if certain ingredients are acceptable (like egg). The food is generally hit or miss.

Never had Quail, but now it's my favorite animal.

Small plates and great wine, beer and cocktails. Delicious food! They share the music line-up for the night. Also, great service.

An interesting menu that changes often! Yeah, it's in a strip mall, but the food is amazing.

Best meal I've had this year, hands down. Literally, every dish they sent our table was spot on and we kinda politely licked every plate, haha. Want to have an amazing meal? For a party of four, we had a bottle of Spanish red wine, multiple beers, the chef's choice on basically ALL of our plates, and we left at less than $50 a head. Tremendous service, RIDICULOUS yet delicious flavor combo's that sit SO well on your palate, you wonder why you never thought to have, for instance, chicken liver pate on a GRANOLA cracker, or the TENDEREST of octopus on some hummous, wagyu and GRIT CAKE AWESOMENESS, or why you don't always order two deserts that while sounding obviously cliche, are truly, uhhhhh, ORGASMIC, I said it (SOome kind of decadent chocolate mousse and a simple but exquisite lemon panacotta bowl). Yeah, this is EXACTLY the kind of food I live for. Creative flavor combos I've never tried, WOULD maybe never try (especially with my parents along that aren't always as adventurous in their preferred dishes as I am) if I didn't leave all my choices in the capable hands of the chef, but upon trying will NOT forget and come back for again and again. My heart is happy, my belly full, and I am quite satisfied. This new Belltown joint comes HIGHLY recommended by me, and they've only been open for two weeks at this location, so get your bums in here before you can't get table. Tarik Abdullah, thank you for introducing my family to this GEM.

A hidden gem tucked away in a strip center. The food is creative and delicious and the service is excellent. The tasting menu features all of their food and I highly recommend it.

Anytime my friends and I go here we like to each get a different dish and eat "family style" so we can taste as much as possible. Last night we had dishes with pork, squid and beef. Everything cooked to perfection. Every bite full of different flavors. You can never get just one glass of wine either. We love Babirusa!

We love this intimate, funky little place for any occasion. The menu is filled with interesting, tasty food that will appeal to your tastebuds and curiosity. Our go-to dining spot in Seattle.

Babirusa is the best restaurant I have been to in Seattle. The food is consistently fresh, delicious, and inspiring. It is casually excellent, with solid service, a good atmosphere, great drinks, and the stunning food.

This place has it all: good drinks, friendly staff, a hard working/excellent cook and AMAZING food. The sloppy joe was out of this world. Good potatoes with aioli as well...

I've been there twice now, once on their soft opening night, and once again for drinks and bites the following week for their happy hour. Delicious! The staff was so good to us, too.

Charles and René are the ultimate dream team. We've been regulars since the opening of Blind Pig and have loved every bite. We'll follow them wherever they go.
