Delicious beer and ice cream! Yes! I really said that!. I have been meaning to come to Bluebird for a while now but it seems like I am not there when they are open. The place is a microcreamery and a microbrewery. At first glance it may seen weird and unusual but I suppose it makes sense. One thing for sure is that Bluebird's hours is definitely brewery hours and not exactly ice cream shop hours. But that is ok! It is worth the wait to come in the afternoon at 3pm!
They have a fairly small beer list. They have one or two guest taps and a few of their own. Nearly all of their own beer was sold out. There was a milk chocolate stout that looked really good but it was sold out. I got a wheat beer that they made called the Weedwacker. The beer had a great taste and goes down easy. They make sure that you get a nice cold one so the glass comes cold too. Be careful, it is slick so don't let it fall out of your hands! The tables are a little awkward for beer drinking. Sure, they are sturdy enough but it is easy for a clumsy beer to hit the base of the table and you got got a little beer spillage going on. Alcohol abuse if you ask me. No mishaps happened with my beer but they are things to be aware of. You may thank me later.
So I got one thing that Bluebird was known for which was the brewery aspect. It was time to get some ice cream and try out their other aspect.
I heard that the Elysian Stout ice cream was good and so I went ahead and got that. I was not let down! The ice cream tasted great! So smooth and the chocolate part was amazing. What more can I say?
I would love to come back here and indulge in more beer and ice cream. The sooner the better!!
Snickerdoodle + salted caramel = cinnabon goodness!
Bluebird Ice Cream is very delicious. Shawn who works at Greenwood on Sunday nights makes the whole experience special. I look forward to seeing her paintings every week!
I'm not sure why this place doesn't have a higher rating. We have tried almost all of the seasonal flavors and a few of the standard ones, and they all blew us away. The cookie butter seasonal flavor is unbelievable, as is the chocolate hazelnut. We also loved the chocolate chunk. The staff is also super friendly and helpful. I only wish we found it sooner!
Best ice cream ever! We came here because I was craving a sweet treat and I was specifically looking for soft serve ice cream. I had their vanilla bean and my boyfriend had the mint. And both were absolutely delicious.
Not a review for this location but just for their ice cream in general- They have a stand at the Bellevue farmers market on Thursdays and their ice cream is delicious + their staff is always very friendly! Waffle cones are freshly made and all their flavors are fantastic. I especially liked lemon cookie from last week, their vanilla and strawberry are also favorites for my family and I. Whenever we go to the farmers market we have to get Bluebird ice cream, it's delicious!
Wow I’m impressed with this spot! Lots of flavor and huge portion sizes! I would go to say it’s better than Molly Moons! I’ll be coming back.
Walked by and got drawn in by the smell of handmade waffle cones being made right at the bar. I tried the salted caramel ice cream in a freshly made waffle cone and my husband got a pint of the Split Personality stout. We both left very happy customers. Will be back!
Hard to walk by without buying one of these house-made waffle cones. Flavor list is short but I love almost every one of them, esp. Strawberry (sourced from local farms!) and Horchata.
Was greeted by the kindest soul, which immediately made me feel welcome and safe, thus, removed any social anxiety symptoms I had going into new place. Sampling of the different flavors was encouraged, so I tried a couple and settled on a combined scoop of the Almond Poppyseed and Marionberry. Both were delicious, but the Almond Poppyseed was perfect- not too sweet, quite simple, and definitely hit the spot. Never before have I been asked which order I’d like the scoops in, talk about outstanding thoughtfulness and great customer service. The portion size was great- I thought the combined scoop would be a smaller scoop of two flavors in one, but it really was more like 2 larger scoops- no complaints here! This place was an absolute gem, will definitely return.
Must try in the Seattle area! I visited with my family and we were pleased with how they treat their customers and how good the ice cream was. I had the vegan chocolate coconut cookie crunch and it was amazing!!! The waffle cones are warm when handed to you and it gives that comfort touch to some good ice cream!
The snickerdoodle is also super good and worth trying but I'm still obsessing over the chocolate coconut cookie crunch! We will definitely be back!
We’ve decided to make Blue Bird a Tradition in our Family when visiting Seattle! The Service is friendly, it’s REAL ice cream, the tunes are delightful and the kids ask for it now when we are up there!!! ((: Smells so good when you walk in and it definitely feels clean. The line moved fast, too!
Super delicious ice cream! Fremont brew dark star was unique and tasty. Ice cream was not overly sweet but very flavorful.
Almond poppy seed and gingerbread batter were very good too!

Good ice cream (their own in small batches) with unique flavors, nice location. Can be a little slow due to high demand and often only 1-2 staff (shakes take time to make by hand, not sure why people are complaining so much in the reviews), but not that bad...sit and enjoy the neighborhood. Staff has always been very kind and helpful. If you have allergies, they do have at least peanuts and peanut butter ice creams that do not seem to be very well isolated, so probably pass if you have a severe peanut allergy.
Lucas and Lelah did a phenomenal job for our outdoor event 8/29 in the park. So friendly, professional and helpful. The ice cream was fantastic and the waffle cones were delicious too. Everyone raved about you two. Thank you so much. Definitely 5 stars, would give more, if I could. Valerie
Super delicious ice cream and the best waffle cone ever
The smell of freshly rolled waffle cones will beckon you to follow your nose to the wide selection of ice cream inside the shop, where super friendly ice cream scoopers will answer any and all your questions about their flavors. They have all the standard flavors you'd expect, alongside really cool seasonal ones too! My favorites are their snickerdoodle, caffe vita, and grasshopper, and if you're able to catch it during the summer time, the meyer lemon cookie is *amazing*!! Definitely stop by to try a scoop or two in a waffle cone!!
No sure why this place doesn't have 5 stars, the snickerdoodle ice cream and waffle cones are ridiculously good and the staff, while clearly super busy and understaffed, are super nice and efficient. Looking forward to when they open up the space a bit more, it's a cute location.
Somewhat disappointed by the ice cream. The flavors were decent but the ice cream was extra runny. It was extra runny right from start, dripping through the waffle cone. "Delivery day" was the explanation. Had to rush through to finish the "shake" served on a cone.
-Edit 9/24/17: Higher rating given due to attentiveness and response by owner. Customer oriented and open to feedback. Will return to try more ice cream.
Always friendly staff and delicious ice cream. We make regular trips across town and wait in line just to get a scoop of Theo's Chocolate Chunk.
