I love Chungee's. Is it the best Chinese food ever, no, but it is amazing comfort food. The staff is great. The low ceiling creates a unique environment and it's rarely ever so packed you can't get a table. They have outdoor seating for summertime and their salads+beer make for a great light summer fare. Rotating beer selection, and they always seem to have my favorite seasonal selection.
One of my favorite places. A mix between a dive bar and classic Chinese restaurant. It's a small space but never feels crowded, even when it is crowded. Always a beer on tap that I like and the food is out of this world. I think out of their entire menu (and I think I've tried everything) was only one dish that I disliked, and I'll admit it was probably a matter of personal taste. Can't recommend this awesome little hole in the wall enough.
Chungee's is definitely the best neighborhood Chinese restaurant in Seattle. Their rotating selection of well chosen drinks pair well with made fresh to order, authentic Chinese dishes and Chinese American favorites. The flavors are clean and complex, the dishes are bountiful, the specials are exceptional and the service is always pleasant. Don't miss this little piece of heaven with a variety of indoor and outdoor seating options in a somewhat makeshift, yet homey setting.
Great Chinese food, reasonably priced, usually not crowded.
I first tried Chungees's after a long day of moving into my new haunt 2 blocks away. Seeing that a restaurant called Chungee's was in my new territory, I had to try it. Chungee’s became my favorite Chinese restaurant while living there. The yum yum crispy chicken is insanely good, and I’d recommend trying any of the specials. The specials include anything from fresh chard from the owner’s mother’s garden or lotus root. So good! Besides the delicious food, the restaurant itself has a cool vibe and the owners are also super cool!
This place is great because of two things:
1) great Chinese food. The closest you are going to get to Chinese home cooking on Capital Hill. Over the years they have exceeded my expectations with every dish.
2) "Chungee" means "stupid pig" in Chinese, and it is a pejorative for "husband." This place is designed to be romantic, with the design of the place encouraging you to snuggle up with the people you are eating with. Probably the best place for Valentine's Day in WA.
I like this place, bartender funny, and attitude. small, busy but not crowded when i was there. good place to hangout with no feeling of a chain. just a small local place. if your looking for PF changs type, wouldn't want you here anyway. good drinks, food decent, good atmosphere
There food is da bomb especially their fried rice. All their food is good. Just thinking about the fried rice got my mouth watering. The prices are reasonable and you get big portions so you will left overs. So worth it.
It's Americanized Chinese food at its finest. My favorites are the General Tso's Chicken, garlic long beans and the salt and pepper prawns. Also has a great beer selection and the bartender, Kevin, is the best
I was so happy to find a Chinese place in Capitol Hill, let alone one with a bar that’s open late! I got the veggie chow mein and loved that the noodles were huge (I’ve never seen chow mein noodles so big!) but was a little disappointed that they weren’t the thin and crispy Cantonese style I was expecting. We also got the seafood fried rice which I wasn’t crazy about but my boyfriend liked! I definitely want to go back and try more dishes, their potstickers & egg rolls!
