Pubs not clubs is my favorite saying.....I do enjoy finding a great hole in the wall pub off the beaten path and when I find a place like Duck Island Ale House I want to share this with my friends and people I know. Duck Island Ale House is easy to find off of Highway 99 in Greenlake, has lots of interior seating, outdoor seating, lots of great decor, unique bar seating, great selection of micro-brews as well has great bites. Checkout Duck Island Ale House on your next visit to Greenlake.

Duck Island is a bar on Aurora right across from Greenlake that has very good fried chicken and pretty good prices on drinks. They have a free skeeball machine in the back, and a couple of tables including some chairs that are sort of like bucket seats from cars. They also have an outside area to drink, although quite small, and it's usually for smokers. The service is good and they have a bunch of televisions all over the bar with different channels on. The chicken tenders or the fried chicken is where it's at.

It's the fried chicken...
You may have heard of Ezell's, Heaven Sent Fried Chicken, or even Ma'ono when researching or discussing fried chicken spots in Seattle. These are among the best places to go when looking for fried chicken and you will be surprised to hear that Duck Island Ale House ranks right up there with them! The fried chicken here is definitely a sleeper.
This small dive type bar does a pressure fried chicken that is absolutely juicy, meat falls off the bone, delicious. This is exactly what I ordered, along with a Rainier draft beer of course. I had the Pressure Fried Frickin' Chicken Basket. I had it with the cole slaw and jo-jo's on the side. Thanks for the recommendation on the sides bartender lady. The jo-jos and cole slaw are good too.
Not much more needs to be said. Go try the chicken, its "Frickin'" awesome.

This place is really relaxed, and has the kind of atmosphere you could spend large amounts of time in. Just dark enough, and just bright enough. The staff are really friendly and the selection of beer is nothing to sneeze at. I love the pressure fried chicken they serve here, although I wish it was seasoned slightly differently, it's super crispy.

Great drinks and pressure cooker fried chicken. Sides are damn good too

Lowkey bar with great staff and amazing food. The fried chicken is fantastic, they use a pressure cooker to make it. Plus they have a couple games on the side that you can play. Very casual and a great place to meet friends.

This small and unpretentious little bar looks like not much from the road, but loved going there. First time in and the staff was super welcoming, really down to earth (ie not pretentious in the least). Huge beer and cider selection, got some great recommendations from the bartender. Food was great also. We went in for happy hour and ordered some chili tots, thinking it would be small appie sized portion, but got a bowl big enough for two people instead. Would definitely go back.

Cozy little bar with some AWESOME chicken strips and potato wedges. Features Golden Tee, Ski-ball, and shuffle board. Staff was wonderful and it seemed to have a draw of some "regulars" at the bar having a good time with the bartender. Overall, highly recommended.

This is where my wife and I went on our first date. There is free skiball and shuffle board. The armadillo eggs, fried chicken, and Irish Nachos are awesome. Good beer selection too. It even has mixed drinks. All in all a great place.

Pressure fried chicken is amazing. Can get it regular or Nashville style. Free skeeball and shuffle board. Nice selection of beers on tap and friendly staff.

Nice down to earth bar. First time but felt totally welcome and comfortable. Loved there are drink specials on Wednesday's for food service workers. Like the food. We had iriah nachos. Dine really well. Warm potato goodness.

This is honestly my favorite dive bar. This place is right off Aurora St. right next a lawnmower store.
When you walk in, the place reminds of a old country bar believe it or not. The decor isn't nice but honestly it did not bother me at all. There are a couple TVs there along with skeeball so there are things to do when you get in. They have quite a few beers on tap, along with an assortment of hard alcohol that you will be able to see when you first approach the bar. The REAL reason why I come in here is the fried chicken. The fried chicken is some of the best in city and I would much rather go here then Ezell's. The fried chicken portions are huge! aaannd of course very crispy on the outside and tender on in the inside. The chicken also comes with a side of jojo's and coleslaw, also very good!
The staff is also very personable and love coming here for a chicken dinner and a few beers. I highly recommend this establishment!

Easy to overlook so close to Beth’s, but that’d be a mistake. Hit these guys up when eating is something you want to do while you’re drinking, instead of because you did. The fried chicken pairs nicely with everything alcoholic, so don’t be shy. And remember, there’s a few parking spots located behind Beth’s, in the alleyway.
Super Genius
Darn good place for both beer and food. The liquor drinks are equally as tastey. Recommend the pressure fried chicken and the JoJo's if it's your first time at the place. Big plus...free skee ball & bar shuffleboard.

If I was to pick a bar that's close to Seattle yet far enough away from the crowds then Duck Ale House would be the place. Its conveniently located on Highway 99 and west of Greenlake yet close enough to Interstate 5. The Pub is very cozy with a lot of nicknacks throughout the place to give it a hole in the wall feel without it being a hole in the wall, just character. This place is perfect for first dates, date night, or just a place to hangout with your friends. There's a large selection of beer and appetizers as well as space to meet a large group of friends.

This is a Seattle institution. I've chatted with a few folks who move away from the area over 20 years ago who have fond memories of the food. They keep a consistently good selection of craft beer, and the food is top notch. If I lived closer, I'd be here at least once a week.
