This is such a great location! The staff is always friendly, the wine is always good and the whiskey is always tasty! Their happy hour has great prices, too. The truffle popcorn is a must!
The best whiskey and Scotch selection I’ve found. Came back for 50% off Scotch Sundays. Great bartender and small plates. Cool place...
Great place for a Seattle Whiskey Collective get together. We generally meet the 2nd Monday of each month. Last nights meeting was all about the Old Forester Whiskey Row collection. This place serves small plates along with wine and spirits and has an area that families can sit in, so everyone can join in. Staff are very attentive and have one of the best collection of bourbons and other whiskies in the area.
Very enjoyable wine Bar. Great selection of wines by the glass divided into 3 prices - $8, $12 &$16. Had a lovely Columbia Valley Cabernet blend as we watched the rain come down. Great service and a very relaxed atmosphere
I really enjoyed it this place. I've never been to the Barrel Theif before and I was so impressed. I did a wine tasting and the wines were fabulous. The owner was very nice and made us all feel welcome. The ambiance was relaxing, cozy, dimly lit, chill music and the seating was very comfortable. I appreciated my experience!
We really only had appetizers. Oil and bread, olives, and cheese plate. Had an Old fashioned, it was good. The atmosphere was fabulous. The service was phenomenal.
Barrel Thief is an absolute gem. I've gone there through a change of ownership, the pandemic and many other events and it has never managed to disappoint. It is, a tucked away phenomenal bar and restaurant.
The Whisk(e)y selection is their main attraction and outside of Cannon, MWS and Jack Rose you'll be hard pressed to find a better variety of high quality whiskies. They have you covered from Bullet all the way to 50yr Glenlivet and specialty whiskies like Whistle Pig's the Spirit of Mauve or Yamazaki.
Food changes a bit but I can't say I've had more than one dish I didn't like, and the staff is always receptive to feedback.
The titular staff is the best part and while they've changed over the years they are, and continue to be the heart of the restaurant.
Barrel Thief with it's whiskey passport, festivity nights and Whiskey vault manages to capture the atmosphere of a Speakeasy but the heart of a well worn local watering hole.
If you are in Seattle and the above intrigues you, you are doing yourself a disservice if you do not visit.
I really enjoy this local cocktail bar. They have standard cocktails and a variety of really intriguing cocktails as well. Everyone at my table got something different and we all thoroughly enjoyed our drinks. Good small bites as well (not sure about other food because we didn't have any).
The Barrel Thief was a really awesome addition to an already great day after exploring Bainbridge island. We had excellent pours of neat whiskey, which was helped by the excellent service. I will say that the hummus we got was okay at best and the place definitely seemed understaffed. Would come back for sure.

Drinks are well served. Food is hit or miss. From appetizers we ordered hummus, charcuterie board and chef's mushrooms. From dishes we ordered a hamburger. The hummus was too salty which was left uneaten, mushrooms were too mushy. You can't mess up the charcuterie board. The burger and fries tasted good though.
Overall we spent 80+ per person.
This review is taking in consideration the food that we ate more than the general « feel » of the place which is actually really good . The service was really pleasant but I got a feeling that it was way understaffed , every drink order took about 20 minute to arrive (even for a beer ). Regarding the food , it was not bad , but it wasn’t great, at least compare to the menu prices . The fish was lacking flavors or texture, and the steak was just average . I wouldn’t complain if the dishes were less than 27$ a plate . We had a great time nevertheless and will be back for drinks , when the place is less crowded .
Pretty good. Like most paved it was a bit pricey but the drinks were ok. The squash was lovely but I hated the wild rice. Nice spot.
The dim and moody atmosphere added to the overall ambiance in the best way possible. The cute decor, complete with charming chandeliers and vintage frames in the women's restroom, added a lovely touch. I ordered the "Other Side" cocktail with Ford's Gin, grapefruit, lemon, sherbet, and Pineau de Charentes, topped with Trevari Blanc de Blanc – it was absolutely delicious and refreshing. Don't miss their happy hour from 4:00 to 6:00pm, Tuesday to Friday. Just be aware that they automatically add a 20% tip, as I mistakenly tipped extra without realizing the note on my receipt 🤦♀️
Anyways, highly recommend giving this place a visit!
Really one of the coolest places I've been in a long time. Service was excellent. Considering it's in Seattle, the service was superb. Only got appetizers but the wings were as good as I've ever had
We were told to stop in here for single mall scotch and the flights were awesome. The 🥃 choices seem endless and they have everything I’ve ever wanted to try. The atmosphere is beautiful and service is quick and friendly.
very chill bar great beer and great service
What can I say...they had Pappy Van Winkle! And a flight at that!
The bartender was very knowledgeable and the atmosphere was perfect for my first taste of Pappy. Can't wait to come back again next time I'm in town.
Love their happy hour and half price whisky Sundays! Solid cocktails and fantastic service
I was floored by how many options I had to choose from here. Delicious food options and an extensive selection of booze. Great style as well!
Casual, relaxed place to have fun with a group of friends or a private date. Long list of wines from WA, CA, France, Spain; great selection to create a flight, or two, or three! Still looking for more complex and bold selections; it will be worth the search. Good small plates to pair with, too! Wiskey flights are next on my agenda!
Whiskey bar with a great selection of whiskeys, wines, mezcals, and etc. classy with a nice ambiance, good happy hour.
