We have been visiting this place for over 4 years and this review is long overdue. Today, we had the large veggie platter and lamb tibs and they were fantastic as usual. We are repeat offenders of Saba and will continue to return.

Really good, with great prices! The veggie combo is just over $20, but I believe it can fill 3 people up -- got it once with someone else and we were STUFFED afterward, and couldn't even finish the last part. The portions are huge, and totally worth the money. The injera was delicious, and so was everything else. The only thing is I wish it were less greasy, but even still it's very yum.

We got the small veggie combo with two types of lentils (yellow and red), red split peas and okra as sides. The lentils and split peas were great. The Injera was good. I liked their Fir-Fir with their Ayib, Ethiopian cottage cheese which is similar in taste to Paneer, Indian cottage cheese. Okras however, weren't good as we got raw unchewable bites. Looks like they don't pay attention while selecting the okras. Prices are pocket friendly. Street parking can be difficult during busy hours. Update: Visited this place again with some friends and everyone like the food. Adding a photo of the veggie combo.

Their Dora wot and beef tibs are to die for, all served with unlimited injera bread baskets. I am a meat eater, but this is a place I have actually ordered the vegetarian platter. Sizes are a little bigger than expected. Each dish would comfortably feed 2. The larger plates can even stretch to 4. Service is a bit spotty though, could use some polishing.

This was my first time trying the Ethiopian cuisine and I absolutely loved it. This restaurant is basically a no frills place and quite functional, which serves food and drinks on point and promptly. They have couple of vegetarian options if not many. One meal can be easily shared between 2-3 people with min to average appetite. The music is authentic to the setting. And the staff is friendly and welcome you with a warm smile.

Delicious and plentiful food. For 4 people we got the large veggie combo and a three dish combo and now have a full take out box for the next few days. I always love the taste and texture of gored gored, the lentil dishes are so good and never mushy, and the green lamb was probably the table favorite. I've also come here for lunch with my work and they are never crowded for lunch during the week so it's a good place for groups.

One of my favorite spots when I am in the area, I only wish I was near there more often. The food is always good, and the service is good as well. Love the traditional Ethiopian food and overall atmosphere. Highly recommended for a quick lunch or a late dinner.

Stopped by at Saba's while passing through Seattle. Delicious food. I normally have something to complain about after each Ethiopian restaurant visit, not here though. The lady that served us was great. I will be bringing my son back to Seattle just for this restaurant in hopes of erasing his bad experience at a different place last year. The food was good enough to be on the same level as my moms cooking.

It seems like a hole in the wall from the outside, but this is a favorite spot of local Ethiopian people. Excellent vegan platter and they even make gluten free injera! Check ahead to make sure they have some on hand before going. Lots of food to share and it's pretty inexpensive. Love this place.

At Saba bar & restaurant, I was greeted by very friendly people and experienced very fast, equally friendly service. Both the bartender and waitress bent over backwards to ensure that my boyfriend and I were having a great time!! The only thing even better was the amazing food. I regularly eat Ethiopian food in cities all around the globe, and Saba is hands down one of the best. I also very much appreciated that the business has been around for decades and is family owned. Definitely do not miss a chance to go to this restaurant or order takeout (although the large shareable plates are much better enjoyed in the restaurant). Pro Tip: Try the honey wine!!

My favorite thing about Saba is that it's a hopping restaurant that's open super late! I'm able to get my favorite dish (green chicken) until 2 AM. The restaurant is very popular with the Ethiopian community and every time I've gone, I've been seated easily but in a warm atmosphere with many other diners. Their food is excellent, and the price is cheap considering the amount of food you get. They do take out and dine in. 100% would recommend to anyone interested in Ethiopian food.

Such great Ethiopian food! The staff was very nice and attentive. The small veggie combo platter was more than enough for 2 people. The lamb tibs were very very good.

This was my first experience with Ethiopian food... SO GOOD! The explanation of the flavors were not featured on the menu so I had to wing it, but I didn't have anything I didn't like. Great service, too.

Big portion that are sure to fill you up. The server was quire attentive as bd explained the options/sizing to us which was very helpful. We did the small veggie combo & the chicken tips as well as their mango juice. We set to our hearts content and still had sizable leftovers. Everything was delicious.

It's an authentic Ethiopian restaurant both food and decor wise. Their veggie combo is delicious. The various curries that come on top of the Ethiopian bread are quite flavourful esp the lentils. 2 people can go with one combo full with extra breads if needed.

I've been looking for a go-to Ethiopian restaurant in Seattle, and tonight I tried Saba after trying several other options. One of those options, the one near Pike Place Market, was flat-out bad, and the others were a bit lacking in flavor. Two things pleased me when I entered Saba on Saturday night: I was able to be seated at the bar, where the University of Washington football game was airing, and the food arrived much more quickly than I'd expected. The quality of the food is what will keep me coming back, though. Another reviewer was critical of the cost of the vegetarian combo, which runs $15. I was dining solo, and I had to take about 60 percent of my meal home, even after stuffing myself. It'll make for another great meal tomorrow. Average Ethiopian food is distinctive in that the various dishes don't taste all that different from one another. In this case, the lentils, okra, greens and other veggies had distinctive flavors, with good but not overwhelming spice. The presentation also was good; none of the seven or eight pockets of food was touching another. My quibbles with the place were that the servers weren't particularly attentive; the Saturday-night music was turned up a bit too loud at first; and the menu is limited. There are no appetizers to tide you over if you're hungry. In that regard, some of the other Seattle Ethiopian restaurants are superior. There also are other Ethiopian restaurants with better atmosphere. But if you're looking for the city's best dishes, this is your place.

We ordered a veggie large combo. It came with 3 types of lentils which were good. The bean and spinach are the highlight of the combo. It was simply amazing. The okra and cabbage are a little moderate. The injera was tasty and overall a very tasty meal.
