The food was great and they had a lot of interesting dishes. The 7 spice pork belly appetizer was fantastic. The service was pretty slow though, took over 40 minutes to get the sushi. It was also really noisy, hard to have a conversation. We will come back again to try more dishes.
Sushi was amazing here! The staff was friendly and hospitable. You should definitely make a reservation, as it gets busy quickly, but it's a nice place to eat at. The prices are low for what you get, which is a plus. The only complaint I have is that some of the desserts on the menu were not available.
Sushi class:I took a sushi making class here and it was really fun. A great opportunity to enjoy tasty food and meet new people! I liked hearing about how the rice is made and the chef is very relaxed/makes you feel comfortable.
Dining: I enjoyed the rainbow roll a lot. The atmosphere is nice a little more quiet than other places.
I had gyozas which were excellent and a chirashi which was also good. I would have liked to try more things but I was full :).
They have half a dozen of cocktails which are standard cocktails tinted with a pinch of Asia, very original. I ordered a cucumber gin tonic, it was very good but full of ice cubes so that it was very short. I had a junmai sake with the meal, I'm no specialist at all but I enjoyed it.
Service was good, except they brought the main dish before the starter.
They have free wifi which is great because network coverage is almost inexistent at the back of the restaurant.
I really enjoy the chiso chirashi bowl, as it is well served. The spicy bowl is too hot for my taste. Rolls are prepared with care; i like the twice baked roll. You will find a lot of locals for dinner as it is good quality food at a good price for sushi
I love this place! I usually only come here for happy hour because the prices are really hard to beat for the quality you get, but their regular menu has a lot of variety and some pretty unique dishes. Only canned and bottled beers, unfortunately; I would love to see this place have beer on tap someday.
Service was informed and friendly. Sushi was well.made, fresh and tasty. We had the omakasi and it was the perfect amount of food and varied in flavor and styles of finish. Delish. We will come again.
Very good sushi in a nice spot. I only had a few pieces of nigiri and a hand-roll, but everything was very tasty.
This restaurant was a surprise! Went in for lunch expecting decent sushi and it turned out to be a wonderful experience and great sushi! A great find indeed!
Awesome sushi, kind service and a great happy hour.
Such a fun place, tucked into a corner below street level! You can't go wrong with their happy hour prices. The sushi is delicious and attractively plated. Our server was upbeat, knowledgeable, friendly, personable....she made our meal time extra special.
Two things make Chiso shine: high quality fish and a creative menu that pairs ingredients thoughtfully for taste. So many sushi places seem to take a 'kitchen sink' approach to rolls, combining crazy amounts of fish with no regard to taste. Chiso instead has a smaller menu of creative *and super tasty* rolls. I'll certainly be back. Best sushi I've had in the Fremont / Queen Anne neighborhood. Comfy, simple atmosphere for your meal.
We live very close and love it. We have often been able to be in/out within 30-45 minutes before going to a show/movie. Food and service are always exceptionable, their hot food is even as good as their raw selections (we particularly like the salted salmon with salad and rice). Also, they're willing to wrap your roll with cucumber instead of rice for $1 extra, which I appreciate as an option. They recently changed their menu so I'm not familiar with what they've modified, but we will be back again soon. I'm sure it is still great!
The food is good as usual. The serving is slow today. Partially because we have a large group here. We waited almost an hour to get to the main dishes. (There were soup and appetizers coming up, but not all of us ordered, so a little awkward to have very few plates for such a large group).
The rice is perfectly cooked on a consistent basis. Many others fail here.
The fish is high quality and processed in house for most of it. Of course there are some items that aren't, but they rarely are at other places.
The price is fair for the cost of doing business in Fremont, especially happy hour.
One note of critical feedback: they have added TVs. I am personally not a fan. The beautiful calligraphy above the bar is enough.
Sitting at the sushi bar was a wonderful experience. The sushi chefs working offered different ideas to suit each of our preferences and were extremely knowledgable. Furthermore, they were very friendly and engaged with the other patrons. The sashimi and sushi rolls they suggested were deliciously fresh and flavorful as well as filling. Plus, Chiso offers a nice wide variety of seafood different from other locals. They offered a variety of Mochi flavors which was awesome and super satisfying as dessert. Everything was well priced for the serving sizes. All in all, highly recommend Chiso for a fantastic sushi dining experience!
